  1. Neil's Wheels?
  2. I really think these communities should re-imburse all the public's taxes that have been spent on what should be public infrastructure: streets, pavements, lighting, stormwater drains, electricity poles ... etc.
  3. Beware the cyclists! Rough lot, not to be trusted, a bad element! (Slip the security guard a rand or two. It's Gauteng after all. He'll let you through, but hide the stolen plasma screen in your saddle bag on the way out.)
  4. I'm thinking of getting a lynch mob together. Fans of Campy are welcome to join. (Zac.A weighs 60kg, so shouldn't be a problem.)
  5. Tried Youtube? There are often tips on tuning the transmission. That said, I have read that the 11-speed ain't as crisp as the 10. Got the right chain?
  6. I'm with Zac.A - still at 60kg, still fit my size 28 jeans ... but somehow getting worse results than my 2011 races, dammit.
  7. Use psychology. Ride a good old farmgate. If you do badly in a race, you can blame the bike; if you do well, you can say it's despite the bike.
  8. SoniaJuliet, huge condolences to your entire family. May Thereza and Hendry rest in peace. Know that everyone here on the Hub feels your pain.
  9. It's entirely accurate then, is it not? I know a few as big as houses.
  10. The "Dali meets Pierneef" filter?
  11. Where is Durban?
  12. Oh that is beautiful.
  13. Headhunter, I'm not so sure it doesn't just look like the vaal 'Vaal. (I was in Mitchell's Plain the other day - you'd think we live in the desert. Hardly any green anywhere. Sand, sand, and more sand.)
  14. Damn, that was a good laugh!
  15. The guy in the bakkie: I hope it wasn't a beige Isuzu with 3 spotlights on the roof.
  16. Awesome score RB. Those Delta calipers are major collector's items. But please get rid of all the *** like the TT bars and the bad, thick bar tape (Fizik make a nice thin, perforated tape that's pretty period. White, in my opinion, is obligatory as long as it's cleaned often.)
  17. Is the bike for sale?
  18. A true Hub addict still manages to post through a haze of morphine! Impressive. Get well soon (well armoured) Tank. (PS: I suppose future helmet threads will debate the merits and benefits of helmets in mugging situations?)
  19. Aaaaaaaah S H ONE T. Keep us updated Jan, that's *** news. Man, now my blood is boiling.
  20. Nice one Zeabre - and big ups for starting the whole thing in the middle of winter. Eish! Ah! Powersaving mode. Hate that. Always have to be force fed a large honey and nut nougat. It's terrible, but someone has to eat it. Other benefits: overtaking a whole bunch of lycra-clad club riders and saying, "Morning! Morning! Morning!" as you go past, pack on back. I think a bike must be one way humans can feel closest to being a bird.
  21. Can't answer that one ... technically, as a DNF, I suppose I'm still riding. Or maybe that does answer your question.
  22. You're including yourself in that Slowbee, yes? Last year, I managed to get everyone waiting at the top of every hill (ah! the irony! the guys who don't need it are the ones who get to rest) until I had to leave them at the bottom of Military Hill (as in depart, not smoke 'em) because, as I excused myself, I still had to get to work (bwahahaha!). Got a puncture in the race, lost 15 minutes trying to find the microscopic piece of embedded wire and get it out with my teeth, and then lost my mojo (funnily enough, in the same place as the training ride). Tourvista - I worked out a great way to keep the correct distance from the bike in front. If I loop an old tyre or rope around your seatpost and then to my steerer tube, I'll be able to ride behind at the perfect distance all the time. Promise. Shall we test this theory in the race? Anyone else having a slow day at work?
  23. I get driven (or ridden) to it, Slowbee. Another of 'Dale's "Training" Rides" (aka mad A-group riders out on a leisurely but still twice-as-fast-as-anyone-else sight-seeing) and I'll be snorting up the Chrystal Meth (do you snort CM? Not you personally. Does one snort CM?)) faster than a drug mule riding a Dogma can get it to me in her dreads
  24. Bravo! A commuter convert .... go, Bushcamp! Go!
  25. Oh good grief! I thought I was reading the same thread as last year. Is deja vu the same as voodoo?
