  1. O my word, this is bad!! How do vehciles get to those single track areas in any case, this is a nightmare......
  2. How can there not be enough water! They know what weather / heat is on its way. This is crazy, really feel sorry for the guys and girls.
  3. Cut off, how many hours do they have to complete entire stage, or do they cut you off at water points if they see you not going to make it? Thats really sad.
  4. **** that's not good to hear. How is the heat in the tents, probably bad in the day?
  5. Why is there a water shortage? Can't imagine how hot the tents must be at night as well, on thorns....must be rough. Really not good to hear.
  6. You pay 100k plus and have to walk, it does look really steep but then zig zag and try reduce incline. Sometimes walking hurts you more, rather just get it over with. Unless it's really loose and you spinning, then I get it.
  7. Hi guys. Just arrived at accomodation in Belville, fetching son at Stellies tomorrow, going early to cape epic Monday morning. Brought mountain bikes with, we keen to do a ride, all three of us Sunday. Just a short 20km. Was thinking Jonkers, but with the Enduro I suspect we can't explore a bit, never been there. Or should we look at something around Belville, Durbanville? Don't know the area at all, but if myself, mommy, mini me can explore some cool trails, it would be an awesome Sunday.
  8. Post of the year!
  9. First timer. We staying in green point accomodation. Can you walk, ride, all the way to the start, or is it fine driving there, finding parking, somewhere around the start area?
  10. What is the best food to take with, bananas etc...or are there food feeding zones?
  11. I will probably opt for a megene light, thats 3k, and a megen computer, thats 3.5k, both brand new, so should be sorted for 6.5k all in.
  12. Thanx everyone, Wolver, maybe this could work. If i paired it with his phone, maybe his watch, which gets alerts anyways, could allert him, vibrate, make a sound, wonder if that would work.....His phone is in the back of his shirt or in the side pocket [ciovita cargo pants] So my other options would be: upgrade to a new garmin watch, then at least he has a decent watch, will pair with varia, or Find second hand edge, or Try use app and test the waters. But as you say, its safer, need to make a plan very soon. Thanx for the help so far.
  13. Hi guys I am looking to buy my son a smart tail light so he can be warned of approaching vehicles [road bike]. The issues are this. He does not have a bike computer, nor garmin watch, he uses my old Huawei GT4 and it actually works like a bomb for him. The problem is how on earth do i do this at minimal expense. Garmin and Meganne smart tail lights [dont need video recording] are say 3k. Then an entry level bike computer is a few thousand. Other option is to upgrade his watch to a Garmin, then he can get alerts on that? I recall when these tail lights were launched some had a handle bar display with tiny led lights that warn you, can you still get this or do you have to pair it to a bike pc, watch? I guess he could pair to his iphone, but not keen on mounting that on the front end of the bike, or are there tricks i am missing here?
  14. Has anyone bought this little guy, and if so, does it work fine?
  15. Thanx, will do
  16. Hi gents, the small Titan tailgate one, how have you found this, could you really load 3 x bikes? https://bike-addict.co.za/products/titan-tailgate-pro-50 I have a roller shutter on my bakkie, the available width is 1.1m, so cant use these large standard sized ones. Seems only option is the Titan pro 50, which for the price, does not look bad actually.
  17. Hi guys, sorry for the radio silence. Thanx for the replies. Once more question. I just got a ranger double cab, do you think some of these which have the flap for the tail gate handle, might let a person keep that flap up so when you reverse the rear view camera is not covered?
  18. Hi guys I want to get one of those padded bakkie tail gate flap things to mount 3, max 4 bikes. It seems your just place your bike over the edge and it parks there. Some people tied them down as well. I see a large variety online, bike addict. The island style one looks good to me, for the price, even titan racing, scott, what is the big difference between these? For short distances, i guess you just place your bikes over and they dont move, i guess on long trips you would want to strap them down?
  19. Still on the hunt for something special. My wife spotted the white 2024 Alu frame, cypher dash. This one: https://bike-addict.co.za/collections/dual-suspensions/products/titan-cypher-rs-dash-2024?_pos=21&_fid=ffa309a3f&_ss=c How are the parts on this, the fork. I know most of you said rather take an alu frame with better parts instead of a carbon frame with judy silver etc.....I do agree with you there. So question, how is the fork and parts on this dash 2024? It would be cool if a bike shop could change the parts, basically the Limited edition parts on a white frame - that would be super cool. Titan, is this possible, pretty please 🙏 I know each model has plenty differences, wheels, tyres, all of that makes a big difference to the total weight. Thanx for all the advise so far gents.
  20. Thanx Titan man. I think i will hunt around for a small with the DT Swiss parts, like others mentioned. I will update soon.
  21. I also like a dropper, dont think she ever used hers, but i hear what you saying. Thanx.
  22. I was looking at those dt swiss options, some are just above budget, 50k, but there are so many models, variants, i have no clue which is the best option. But then again, the more expensive the better perhaps?
  23. Hi guys, need advise. My wife used to ride an old carbon scott spark rc700, small size, think it weighed like 11kg. She wants to start riding again. I have a budget of 30k to 40k. I first started looking at second hand. She likes sparks, trek, for 40k you can get something decent, but its around 5 years old. I then started looking at Titan, as she likes the black / dark look. There are so many options on various selling websites that i have no idea which bike would be the best value for money for a Titan dual suspension, small size. We ride long gravel, lots of uphill's, a bit of technical, so an XC bike, don't need more than 100mm travel. Which titan is the best bang, lightest, best components, for my budget.
  24. Thanx Shaper, good info this, will relay to him.
  25. Hi guys I was planning on buying my son an entry now for a few weeks, as it aint cheap, but just got a notification its sold out [Mossel Bay] What are the chances they release more, or people cant make it, cancel........is it just a waiting game now, maybe we lucky, how does it work?
