  1. Hope you did not get the free entry from Taun B 😲😁 Besides that, have a blast.
  2. Are these the fives or leatts in the pic, that's scary
  3. This is good feedback. I am on my second set of five tens, maybe i should call them seven elevens -eish, lets start a new brand guys, or even Seven Twenty. 😲 I actually think i know why my fives dont last that long, the sole is too soft, too grippy. I can feel some or certain pins basically coming thru, pressing on pressure points. One day when i have budget i will also look at the 2fo's.
  4. I had Garmins for ages, wife as well, moved to Huawei watch 42mm and 46mm long ago. 2 Weeks battery life, watches even speak to us. Ultra high def screen, i got the gt3, with vitality rewards, end up paying under 2k i think. No brainer but all to themselves.
  5. Hi Chris, this is valuable input. Like i said, my five ten freeriders soles feel to soft. Yes, plenty of grip but to be honest, i want to move my feet around a small bit every now and then. I also feel that harder soles lets a person put down power better, basically the same as carbon clip shoes, the stiffer the better they always say. But if you say thay way to slippery then that worries me a bit. Also, so many peeps rave about the 2fo, they really seem to have a winner. Wonder how the 2fo compares to leatt as well, or if someone changed from those to 2fo? Also, are your 2fo soles still as stiff as they were since new or did they get a bit softer?
  6. Thanx Steady, will def size up if i pull the trigger.
  7. So, Just found this link, nice read, so seems nice rigid sole, less grippy, which i prefer to be honest. I like moving my feet around. https://www.outdoorgearlab.com/reviews/biking/mountain-bike-flat-shoes/bontrager-flatline
  8. Hi guys Has anyone switched to the Bontragger flat shoes, either coming from five tens or leatt's? I saw them now, touched and feel, sole seems nice and stiff. Good looking, built, it seems? Priced at R2 500, which seems fair.
  9. What options are out there if you looking at a 2.3 mtb tyre, fast rolling, decent grip on drym hard pack. It seems vitoria and maxis are only 2.35 and not 2.3? Spez maybe, but then its over a grand a tyre?
  10. Thats true Chris, but honestly, when will it stop. China is on full lock down, AGAIN, will we be next, rest of the world🤔In my mind it means prices will never go back to what they were, and thats a big stuff up.
  11. We used to import for over 12 years. Gazebo frames, flag poles, that kind of stuff. Now we buy local. Local is around 50% more but we always have stock. What i cant get my head around is WHY, why did covid cause price increases for so many goods. I can understand the knock on effects at first, but its been years now. Something does not make sense. Getting back to MTB's. It really is a massive problem. Not long ago you could get a decent carbon dual sus for 50k, now you looking at a newish aluminium. Everything nowadays which is second hand, in mint condition, is probably worth double, whether its your 4 year old double cab, or your mtb, scary stuff.
  12. Back in the day, i think before lock down, i still had my silverback super speed ht carbon. I chucked on icons, 2.35 front and back, i had on 2.25 cross marks. First reaction was, why do they feel flat all the time 😄 But man, how plush on rocky downhills, felt as if i had a dual sus. I did however notice a bit of tyre skwerm going round corners fast on tar, as if they not pumped hard enough, but it was just how it was. I ended up getting another bike and it now has 2.25's on, when they done i will go up to 2.3 or 2.35. I must say, on the thicker icons i felt slower on uphill's, but maybe it was just my imagination, as if i had more resistance. But on the flip side, the grip was better, so a win for wider in my opinion.
  13. Hi Pedal, thanx for your 'review' 😁 This helps allot.
  14. Out of interest, anyone using a garmin venu 2 as a dedicated watch for tracking your rides. If so, quality of screen, battery, accuracy of heart rate, issues?
  15. Hi Nico, reason i ask. I am old school, still running 2.25 front and rear, cause my brain and my legs say my rolling resistance is better 😁 Wy wife has Barzo's, cape cobra i think, 2.2 i think, her tyres look wider than mine 🤨 I once fitted icons front and rear, 2.35, man o man, feels like you riding on a cushion, but [might just be me] on the uphills i found i was doing more work to do the same speed as my good old faithfull 2.25 cross marks. But i must say, i am now at a stage where i want to go a tad bit wider, so either 2.3 or max 2.35. As long as rolling res is the same or better then its a win win.
  16. Is anyone running 2.3 front and back and if so which brand? Is there a big difference between 2.3 and 2.35?
  17. Getting back to Scott / Nino's team, why they chose Aspens is beyond me. How many punctures did they end up having, it destroyed there race. Wonder what tyres speed company rode? Would be interesting to see what the top 5 teams rode tyre wise actually.
  18. I am not sure why some members here criticize the epic. My wife and i cant wait to watch each live broadcast on you tube day in, day out. We can be so proud, look at our SA men and ladies keeping up with the best in the world. Regarding pro xc riders, racers, they are fascinating to watch as they normally push red for 2 hours max. Now they need to do it for 4 to 6 hours. I think the routes have been awesome, the footage has been awesome, the commentary is actually fine. I do wish we had more info on the non pro's. For me the epic is like the dakar, i watch that each year as well. You have drivers with different disciplines and backgrounds, yet, they race the crap out of each other. By the way, talking about Nino and his tyre issues, i saw a clip with what looked like an aspen but flip it seemed as if it had 1 000 kays on, crazy. It looked almost smooth, maybe this is why they have had countless tyre issues? It would be cool to get an insite on what happens when the pro's finish a stage. Do they go and chow, sleep, chow again, de brief, sleep, wake up at 4am, seeing as they have the whole day at the village compared to the regular joe's who get in before the sun sets. All in all, its been great so far, cant wait to see the next 2 days.
  19. How is Tristan, toyota back up team doing ?
  20. Very true D, allot of money to pay and to only do 2 stages if you lucky. Some teams will take 12 hours. It seems you really have to be ultra fit and in top form to attempt this.
  21. Very true, at least 10 hours, scary stuff.
  22. Did Matt's stomach issues start before the hectic climb already, or dehydration issues?
  23. True that, almost 15kg for a 50k bike regardless if its alu, eish.
  24. I am flying to Jozi tomorrow, which cycle shops might have actual stock which i can try on? Dont mind ordering online but i might as well try seeing i am there till Friday.
  25. G, can you fit a cellphone in the back of these or are those two pockets not really meant for that?
