  1. Hi guys. I did not reed this whole topic yet but just want to say this. I am the guy who took the mirror of. I did not have much place to go. We were going about 50km/h plus. I have been cycling for 15 years. I have ridden in france for two years and never in my life seen an official trying to take a bunch out.! It was insane. And then afterwards he does not even apologise. Like Auction Lamb said. What if somebody hit the back of his car... Then this would have been a different topic all the gether. Craig Hawtry and half the comms at PPA events have a Sh!t attitude half time. I remember when i was junior He had a sh*t attitude. I want to see officials at races who like to chat to the riders and sort things out and makes things better and solve problems. NOt try and harm you? What trust is that.... My hand is pretty bruised today. Can i send the medical bill to Craig so he can hand it in at his insurance all together? INdeed another bad day for western cape cycling coming after a great event like the tour de Boland... PS. The most dangerous part of our race crossing the white line was an official car trying to kill us. There were only about maybe 5 cars that was oncoming traffic. After Willemse Sr took over the marsheling it was great... YES we were wrong crossing the white line.
  2. All i can say is when Christof Sauzer came to test the maxis Larsens the first time he came back from his test ride the first time in stellenbosch and he said you cant even compare them to pythons... He used to turn the larsen around on the back tire so that the "dimpels" were showing in reverse. He said it gave him better traction and braking. He subsequently had a great deal in the design of the crossmark hence the swiss flag and cross in the middle of tyre. Think if it is good enough for him its ok for us normaly people...
  3. crossmark or larsen is the best. if you got a cut it was really bad luck. Have been riding 3 years with them now putting a new pair on each year. They are a bit heavier i think but definately bomb proof. Did epic 2006 on crossmark. Did not take spare tube with for whole race. 2007 was on larsen. and yes. Did not take a tube again. I actually hit a rock so hard that the rim bent and could not use back brake due to buckle and bulge in rim but still no puncture. It is really tough as nails and would not ride anything else.!
  4. I am sure lots of people have mentioned it but stans is the way to go. I ride with a stans kit on mavic 717 rims and larsen tt tyres or crosmark. I know its a bit heavier than your other tyres out there. I run it on 2.1 on the front and 2.2 on the back and have not had one puncture in the last 3 years. Also have ridden the epic now twice like this with out taking a tube or bomb with me....
  5. I rode a trek oclv in france during the 2002 season. Halfway thru i noticed that the dishing on my wheel was out. Further inspection lead me to the bottem chainstay lug that was busy pulling out due the carbon disintegrating were the chain blades are.Think i dropped my chain there a couple of times. It started getting so bad than i could fit my pinkie in the hole that was forming. The lug moved out about 3-4mm. Long story short. Had to ride like that for 6 weeks before getting a new frame doing lots of racing and a couple of tours. That was one of a strong frame...
  6. Dont think you should mix them. Stan's might be expensive but def have worked the best for me in the past. Have used it now for 3 seasons putting in n cup and half in each wheel. Have not had one puncture and also did 2006 and 2007 Cape Epic with out taking a spare tube. Thats how much faith i have in stans....
  7. Looks like die vroue mense dra die broeke in hierdie verhoudings...
  8. Ja Groot Lem. Jy weet ook als ma net heeltemal als nie... So dink jy ons het n kans?
  9. They said they want to break 5 hours?
  10. motorist need to chill. We all need to Chill. everybody is so highly strung all the time. its really so sad to see how impolite everybody is with everybody else on the roads. And we cyclist are also guilty... When we cruising along and this idiot deliberately almost takes you out.... just wave. I know you want to moer him but it takes me the next 20km to calm down again. So just wave..... trust me. It annoys them more to wave than to throw the old zap sign.....
  11. Last year it was Richard Kane who took the honors. Who is it going to be this year. Winning time? See Capetown Market got Tiaan Kannemeyr, Jaco Venter, Travis Allan and Nolan Hofman riding. Boys are starting to take the DC serious?
  12. Will have to look into it. Heard alot about the Ergomo Pro and that is probably the product to go for. Using a power meter is definately the best way to go...
  13. Very Interesting. What power meter did you use for your MTB setup?
