  1. And… we wait… a bit… more…
  2. Apple Find My, Garmin LiveTrack, all in a dual sim phone (EmptyN & WoudaCom). Reception can be spotty in places). Incident detection activated on Garmin activated (it does work, even if you just suddenly reduce speed to zero, aka puncture). Fall detection activated on Apple Watch (seems more arm specific than anything else)
  3. Schoemansdrift bridge, Saturday
  4. Seemingly pancake flat. I might not be an 80kg anything (Definitely not a 80kg climber like Matt Beers!), so anybody with any info/experience on previous events?
  5. The real question is how the above translate into real world use!
  6. BicycleRollingResistance.com ? Do not see anything sawtooth though
  7. I did a virtual figure of 8 but then Windoze decided to have a shutdown mid ride. No cool pics to show for it 😢
  8. The tandem, or two single bicycles?
  9. I've only ever did the half, and that in the mud. Was lots of fun 😁, the ride was most definitely not 'sister-like' (whatever that might mean) Did some/all of the folling: freezing my backside off, dodging the mud being slung into my face from my front wheel, putting my glasses away because I could actually see better through caked lashes than muddy glasses. scraping mud & rocks off my wheels with a stick Ended up riding from coffee station to coffee station the 10km neutral zone to the start for the event might well have been my fastest flat 10km of the day Think I'll hold out for another muddy year... or maybe next year, but then with drop handles!
  10. N currently consist of: Biggie, Sport, Soul, R2 A humble collection hey @NotSoBigBen?
  11. Old enough to know telegrams STOP Young enough to ride bicycles STOP
  12. Soon STOP Maybe early next week STOP Bike shop is awaiting delivery from supplier STOP Do have the serial number already STOP N+1 where N+1 < D is not applicable STOP Excitement is building STOP
  13. The road was in good condition yesterday. Usual (thin) muddy spot at the bridge after the T from Koedoeslaagte. To me, the road was in good condition generally, I even managed a few Strava PRs 😊 Could just ride, not hunt lines This was on a hardtail 29er with >= 2.3 tyres General Observations: 1. Bottom of the back of Venterskroon downhill, people were filling a rut. 2. Going over the bridge before the drag to the Potch tar road it’ll be best to be careful about bike lines taken. Not sure if the repair works included repairs there 3. Apparently the road(s)? on the ‘far’ side of Skandinawïedrif is still very wet/muddy. Guess it’ll get some attention as soon as machinery can get in safely.
  14. Sal more self 'n paar fotos gaan neem. "nuwe" reelings is weer weg... Nuutste fotos wat ek gesien het,
  15. Eventually settled on a TR Switch. Kinda what I can get, ticking boxes I (wrongly?) believe are important (to me) and actually not bad looking "baaiesukkel". I'm working on N+1, but I'm still far from approaching @NotSoBigBen and his bevy of bicycles. Now, just the countdown to New Bike Day!
  16. Do your son a favour, get him off Strava and stop worrying about social media ‘noddy badges’, or the lack thereof
  17. 3 of us set out to do make use of the holiday to do a 120km ride. Covering some Crater Cruise roads plus more. The route (barring start / finish) Some of the photos Those on the Crater Cruise Route: The road towards Venterskroon Venterskroon: Towards the end of "Suikerbossie": And not on the Crater Cruise route: Schoemansdrift bridge across the Vaal Into the valley on what we call the "Klein Crater" route Stop taking photos, I'm still in my PJs! It is a long weekend!
  18. I'm using TrainingPeaks Virtual for days I do not want to venture outside. It is included in a TrainingPeaks premium sub, but that is included in how I use the platform
  19. I dropped 13kg this year. No funny stuff, no funky diets, no books, no miracle cures, no sickness. Just no sugar and minimizing fats. During that I "slowly" started building up my training volume. I tracked calories in/out by logging all intakes on MyFitnessPal, and using a heart rate monitor & power meters to measure training efforts. I'm now at a level where I need to eat carbs to sustain training volume, but I still log all intakes. I reached a point where I need carbs again to sustain my training. Currently have an issue where it becomes a concerted effort to reach my rough requirement of 21000 kcal a week. I try to keep food as 'clean' as possible. Not completely whole foods only, but staying as far away as possible from processed anything. Swapped fizzy drinks (even the Diet/Zero variants) for sparkling water, and yip I stay away from alcohol.
  20. I don't always have the opportunity for an easy mid-week cruise, so another river photo around sunset.
  21. And then there is this, apparently 'a nice day for cutting trees' https://www.reddit.com/r/gravelcycling/comments/1jz1huz/2025_barry_roubaix_guy_drops_a_tree_on_a_racer
  22. I did the first one, but had to bow out due to an injury for the others. But...we just did the 'Afrika' route, with some interesting extra bits and bobs 🙃 I think other races went to / started at the other side of town Ross is busy dreaming up another ride for us (maybe not a race) involving some steep climbs on private land stretched over 40km (or so he says).
  23. Had to stop at the river in town around sunset.
  24. Another shout out to Le Tour Cycles! Shaun has become my go to guy for cycling repairs / stuff
  25. We generally start from the Beerhouse in Parys on Saturday mornings. With the saturated soil/big puddles on the gravel roads we've generally been riding to / past Venterskroon the last while. These roads tend to drain much better than some of the others in the area On Easter Monday some of us are doing a 120km ride (Non-ultra preppers) The Saturday after Easter others are doing a 200km (36One preppers)
