  4. mux, it is like beers, wine and brandies and whiskey, most people just drink the stuff and make it up as they go along to "be" cool. ?However, there are those that can tell the diference. ?A well set-up bike is better than a poorly set-up bike. ?Some frame geometeries make it easier to fit the bike to the rider. ?Some bikes are stiffer ext, but it takes a guy with some experience to tell the difference though.
  5. You know you are old when you see a "hottie" and start wondering if her mom is available.

  9. http://www.protournews.com/news/images/Rolls-Union-Jack-Saddle_lo.jpg Just the saddle for HR, a rolls in Union Jack. Sorry the Irish green were all sold out.
  10. You're fooked if the battery dies though! Unless you buy the front-wheel mounted dynamo accessory.... Oh, so you are a real hard core cyclist who uses is foot in the spokes (shoe on the front wheel) technique to stop?
  11. HR I see you are part of the old school that go for back pedal brakes and single speed fixed geared, steel framed rigids.
  12. June was a busy month in the download/ update sector: garmin updated its training centre: http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=835 zonefivesoftware their stuff too: www.zonefivesoftware.com
  13. And there I thought that white was the new black!? Where are the white walled tyres and glod anoidised spokes. ps.... what is that little plastic thing over the rear brake? a "penalty" weight to push the bike over 6.9 kgs?KonaFan2008-07-16 01:01:25
  14. I suppose an outside chance to bag one of five available slots (UK) is better than being a shoe-in for no available slots. (Kenya)
  15. Wot Yolandi? Look' date=' I dunno about Kenyan women, but there's a reason I came to SA... Your women and your jobs [/quote'] You're not having much luck with your woman/groupset package deals. Nah, that woman isn't mine...I just assist in offering her services... I'm plenty lucky with mine... She's a redhead you know... theme song for the xenophic: Baby, light my fire. (doors)
  16. Wot Yolandi? Look' date=' I dunno about Kenyan women, but there's a reason I came to SA... Your women and your jobs [/quote'] TnT1, you want to play in the fire again?
  17. now that gives travel a new meaning.
  18. I am sure home affairs would have been delighted to have assisted the CSA to convince him to to renounce his various citzenships and then issue him with a RSA passport and ID documents, pronto. After all it is a matter of national interest to have three Saffa's in the TdF..... I am sure he would have loved to become a citizen of a country, who's official policy is to discriminate against people like him, when selecting national teams. Wait, my coffee is cold, and I have awaken from my dreams. That is sarcasm for you.
  19. Johan, when you are trying to do many things with one bike: Freeride, XC, marathon ext, saddle height has to be adjusted (more bumps=lower height) accordingly. (The manhood demands it. Cycling is not meant to mean peanut butter making) Compare Fritz Pienaars bike setup (XC) to Greg Minaar's (DH in the extreme) to see the different approaches to saddle height.
  20. Why would he want to be a Saffa, when he can be both a Brit and a Kenyan?
  21. Kenya doesn't qualify. That's why they were at the World B champs last year, where CF won the silver in TT. Didn't I just say that? No, you said 'probably wouldn't have'. You can carry on pretending you know everything - but we're on to you! I know nothing, but can google.....
  22. THank you Johan for overturning all avaliable conventional wisdom. It just shows how niaive the bunch of us are.
  23. Why the quick release, that is simple, because you want to adjust your saddle height on the fly (okay you have to get off for a few seconds first). Why would a Mtbker want to do that? well some riders prefer a lower saddle position on technical climbs, tricky corners and decents. (Something about more stability with bent knees, and not losing your manhood over the top of the saddle). However, on jeep track, road and smooth going a heigher saddle can translate into faster times, less pressure on the knees ext. So the solution: Buy a expensive hydrolic adjustable seatpost OR install a quick release. (Thanx minty for trumping me on this)
