  1. There is thread that is asking for people to assist UCT in doing tests on LCHF. I am no use as I am based in Johannesburg, but I sure you Cape Town guys can assist.
  2. There is a very good thread that is currently running on The Hub that will certainly respond to you. Please have a look at it and advertise yourself there. Also, I have no doubt that your results of the tests would be really, really appreciated if you shared those results with us.
  3. To get your next medical check-up.
  4. Hi All. Earlier in the thread I asked for a reference of a doctor to do a medical check-up in Johannesburg that advocates the LCHF diet. The PM's I received was huge on this matter. I tweeted Tim Noakes requesting a referral and he replied! So anyone looking for her name, particularly Topwine, please PM me and I'll give you her details.
  5. The Johannesburg Mountain Bike Club is a fantastic club for all levels of riders. They are also a great bunch of guys.
  6. Thanks Dale. I have sent a PM.
  7. Topwine-do I know you? Did I ask for your or anybody's opinion? Jeez man, you really need a course on manners. Thanks for that Iloydkayak.
  8. Thanks for the heads up there Topwine, but if you don't mind I would prefer to consult with someone that does subscribe to the LCHF, or alternatively the Paleo diet. I think we get enough lecturing and advice on why we should not be on the LCHF diet in this forum.
  9. Hi All. Its the time of the year for me to go for an annual medical that my employer insists on. I've been on the LCHF for some time now. I really would prefer to see a doctor that supports the LCHF, or Paleo way of living to do the check up. Has anyone got a name or two for a doctor in Johannesburg or Sandton area for me? Many thanks.
  10. I also got. It is simply fantastic.
  11. Does anyone know of a LBS that stocks Assos, Santini, Mille etc in Gauteng?
  12. Thanks all. I went to Cadence training in Fourways for a month and that prompted me to buy my IDT as I live in Rosebank and it too far to commute for a fifty minute workout.
  13. I'm looking for a coach to get me through the Joberg2C next year. I have recently bought a Cyclops indoor bike and am keen to use it as part of my training. I'm based in Gauteng. I'd sincerely appreciate it if you could give me some guidance of a good coach that uses power as a base for their training methodology. I'm very much a back-end of the field rider!
  14. Brilliant. Thanks htone.
  15. This ketosis thing really interests me. Some of the books I have read focus on ketosis while others, as well as Tim Noakes, hardly mention it at all. I know that earlier in the thread the matter was discussed at some length, but not in much detail. I have been on the LCHF diet for some six months (very inspired by this thread) now and have lost 18kg and feel great. However, I do cheat occasionally. When I cheat I feel awful for a few hours, but then I'm ok. I have regularly used Ketostix to see if I'm in a state of ketosis the day after I cheat and I must say that there really is no material difference between when I cheat and when I don't. I would appreciate your views on this issue. Is ketosis really a big deal?
  16. It just another form of measuring improvement.
  17. Thanks Spinnekop and Animal9.
  18. I want to buy body fat calipers. My google has not been successful in that there appears to be no clear brand that stands above the rest, nothing clear on whether you should go for digital or not, nor where is the best place to buy. Any suggestions/advice will be appreciated.
  19. You won't easily get a better marathon than this for your first. Good luck.
  20. I am also a big guy and also looking for a higher end carbon bike. My major issue is the strength of the frame. The feedback I got was that the SC Tallboy is the way to go. I'd really like to know if people disagree with this and why. I don't want to make a mistake here.
  21. Can anyone tell me if there is electricity available in the camp site? More specifically, to charge the Garmin and if there is electricity avaiable in the shower area?
  22. I found the ride very well organised overall and think that a good job was done. It was a very very tough ride for me and I noticed that there were a lot of DNF's in the results. Is that the real result or does that list of DNF's include those that did not start the ride?
  23. Thanks nigelhicks. I've just received the e-mail as well.
  24. I'm missing something. Where on the website can you see the batches? I'm doing the Great Trek for the first time. When we received yesterday's newsletter, the tag which sent us to what we should take with us, which is of interest to me, was faulty. Did anyone have the same problem?
  25. I enjoyed that. Thanks. Does anyone know who CSA is supporting?
