  1. First summer braai this weekend for me and I understand that Skilpadjies are an excellent meal for a LCHF person. Does anyone know which butcher(s) in northern Johannesburg sell them?
  2. Please will you PM me as well.
  3. Here's the link that shows you how it works. I found it useful. http://www.dcrainmak...-705800810.html
  4. Yes, I know where that is. You've been a great help. Thanks.
  5. Sure, I have the road map. How do I send it to you? You won't get lost though, its perfectly sign posted. Just remember that you can't turn back!
  6. Thanks. Do you know how far it is? Also, when you say the old gate, do you mean the gate that is about 300 metres up the road from where the main gate is?
  7. I've done SBR quite a few times and it must be one of the best training rides in Gauteng. It's also a very beautiful and safe place to ride. What is frustrating though is trying to find the MTB trail(s) that people talk about. Even the front gate offers a map of where this trail is, but I have never been able to find it. If anyone can help me on this, I'd really appreciate it.
  8. Can anyone show me some reading material setting out as clearly as possible the difference between LCHF and the Paleo diet? I've done a Google, but there doesn't seem to be anything that makes it clear.
  9. I used Twitter to get hold of him and he responded fully. He's a good guy.
  10. Sorry, my fault, I didn't communicate properly. I'll only be there in December. Many thanks for your offers though. I didn't know that there were markers on the telephone poles, so thanks for that.
  11. I'm going to Balito again this year as I really enjoyed Holla Trails. My major gripe though was that the signage was awful then and if you are not familiar with the area, you can get lost. I have tried to download the yellow trail map from their website, but with no joy. Does anyone have accurate maps for my Garmin that I can use (especially the yellow and black route)? I'd really appreciate it.
  12. Its a fantastic place to ride. You'll probably choose to do the yellow trail as its about 45km long. I was there in December and the signage was not the best. There are a few other trails, all of which are great. I think its red that is really popular. You may want to include this as a loop. The guys running the show there are really helpful, so if you just chat to them they will point you in the right direction. Please let me know if the yellow signage is better now.
  13. Hi htone. Can you be a bit more specific here on the contact details? When I Google @flexia, I get a reflexology web-site.
  14. Ok-I'm sold. I need to get one of these BG machines. I have searched around and there are quite a few options. Please can you guys give me some advice which one is the best? It will save me (and others, I hope) a lot of time.
  15. While discussing sweet stuff, I'd like to know what your guy's views on dark chocolate (80%+ cocoa) are. The way I read things is that it is high on fat and not that bad on carbs, I know there is a bit of sugar involved, but nothing insane. It seems to be ok from a Paleo perspective, but I can't see anything from a LCHF perspective.
  16. I have just done the Nissan Cullinan ride and was really mentally unprepared for the toughness of the ride (It was much tougher than last year). I don't want that to happen again. Can anyone give me a rating on the toughness of this ride compared to Cullinan?
  17. I've found that the Food Lovers Market to be the best deal, but I'm sure that I can do better somewhere else.. They're still expensive in my view.
  18. have you got the map for that?
  19. The whole thing was great. It's a long tough ride as well, which was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks again.
  20. I used rouxtjie's map this weekend. Thank goodness I had it, as I would have been hopelessly lost. My view on van Gaalen's is that it must surely rank as some of the best MTB turf in Gauteng, if not the best. However, signage needs to be improved, big time, if they want to attract people who want to go there as newbies. The area is much too large to get badly lost. Whilst I understand there can be some fun in getting lost, there is nothing fun about having to get home when you are exhausted and you don't know how to.
  21. That is really useful rouxtjie. Many thanks. Just to be sure, does this map start from the main parking lot at VG?
  22. Please bear with me here-if I did 52.5km on Saturday, did I take a wrong turn, or did I get it right?
  23. Massive queues at the toilets as well. I also agree that the track was awesome.
