  13. quick update here, took the bike apart and: removed the cassette, clean it, checked and oiled the rear hub, removed and cleaned the chain, new tape on bars set H/L and indexed derailleurs lubed the seat post reassembled the bike and wow, feels like new. Did my first road ride last weekend, just a 30km coffee shop ride...chalk and cheese. It is actually mad the difference a road bike makes in comparison to a MTB on road, can only imagine the ride experience on an expensive bike. Hills where i used to struggle now i climb without a sweat. Decided to take part on the ride joburg 94.7 ride, time to get fit and start doing kms. Thanks all
  14. wife will have my head!!!!!???? Its enough we had to eat supper with the bike in the lounge so I could look at it
  15. Flipping the stem around is so obvious!!! Magic!! Just tried it, rode a block around the house, more control/connection to the steering. Thanks for this! Thanks, decided to go cheap to appreciate the bike growth! comfort I'll be able to measure overtime, need to do a proper ride!
  16. appreciated! now to buy some spare tubes!
  17. Thanks! very amped! centre of the crank to top of the seat frame tube is 54cm, middle if the crank to saddle is +-70cm. reach and control will be tested on my next ride, hope i have both ????
  18. Hi guys, Thanks for your input! I came right yesterday on my first road bike. 2016 Silverback Strela Comp, nice condition, Sora group set, nearly new Conti tires, think its a descent start for 5k ???? Now, stupid question about fitting, i am 175cm height and 80cm inseam, the recommended size for me is 54cm, the bike is a 54cm. The seat as you see in the pic is where i fit +-, the handle bars seem high as compared to all the cool/epic/pro pics I see on the interwebs (where the seat seems to be 10cm higher than the bars). Ill try take an other pic with me on it. Am i being stupid? who cares? is it because of the angled stem? bike too big for me? should I shut up and go ride? Thanks!
  19. appreciated!
  20. Thanks for this! I have being eyeing the threads of the carbon imported frames, but not there yet! So I also stand at a cross roads, go used and cheap under 10k (get some road experience and see how I like it and what i like) or go new under 20k (cry a bit on the price and hope i love my new bike) hahahaha. I also understand that 20k is only scratching the surface on the road game, but that's my noob budget, maybe i love it and sell my car to buy a specialized hahaha samples of where my head's at New: https://bike-addict.co.za/collections/road-bikes/products/titan-valerian-comp-2020 https://www.lindencycles.com/product-page/titan-stryker-elite-disc-2020-700c Used: https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/road-bikes/474816/specialized-allez https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/785921042044429/ https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/road-bikes/474688/fuji-roubaix-15-tiagra-aluminium-road-bike-700cc
