  1. Attached at a crime scene taken by the victims of an attempted hijacking in Benoni. While returning home, the husband and wife were blocked in in their driveway by a white Audi with three armed black males. Luckily, their son was home at the time and in an effort to protect his parents, he opened up with his personal firearm on the three robbers, emptying his entire mag - 17 rounds (It's a pity he didn't have any more mags on him...)<?: PREFIX = O /> He hit one of them square in the head - dead, the second one he injured critically, and it seems the driver was only slightly wounded and managed to drive off with his buddies. They recovered the Audi in a parking garage of a shopping centre not far away. From the photos it becomes quite apparent what damage the shooter inflicted on the robbers - one poor armed robber lies dead in the Audi, ag shame! According to police, the shooter single-handedly took out one of the armed-robbery gangs that had been terrorising the neighbourhood for cars four weeks prior to the incident. And according to the family, they have only praise for all the police officers that were involved in this incident. They say the police acted highly professionally and went out of their way to assist the distressed family. This is clearly a prime example that many police officers in this country are still willing to do their jobs and to go that extra mile to help those in need! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This e-mail is subject to the Telkom SA electronic communication legal notice, available at : http://www.telkom.co.za/TelkomEMailLegalNotice.PDF ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  2. Brilliant Tarmac I tried last year and early this year with heart rate zones, thresholds...... etc. and did worse in argus and 94.7- so now I just follow simple rule -if indoubt when tired ride slower and when strong ride harder and I feel better. How does the power theory work?
  3. Just got a pm, yeah I agree 100 % that I have been whipped by heavier bikes and much oilder riders at times and it makes me realise that I must train harder. But what we are saying is that we enjoy making our bikes hotter and lighter regardless PS , I'm 39 years old 70kg and started riding at school ( Malcolm Langes) in 1987.
  4. And you don't understand people who worry about lighter bikes-sounds like you obsess about other stuff We just bloody enjoy it man! Maybe lets post our race results and see who is who, cause suddenly all the people with heavy bikes finish in front of lighter bikes???
  5. Ha Ha you must see our weight debate on Rant and Rave. Depending on your budget, I dropped more weight with about R3k changing pedals, bars and stem.
  6. Well put Goodbadugly. Just as I find it strange that someone could drive a BMW X6 and spend 'only' R6k on a bicycle, it's what makes them happy. I too find it strange that people would spend hundreds OF R's on cigarettes instead of on their bicycles, but it's their choice. I spend more on my bike to make it lighter and great looking because we never had cash growing up,and that now makes me happy. I don't fuss over small weight differences, but if a fork costing me R5k can be found for eg. in a Fox at 300g lighter then I'll take that.
  7. If Chuck, Muddy and Le Turbo read the last 7 pages they would see we don't say we will be faster we just say we enjoy making them look good and making them lighter!Waste of money, so are cigarettes, beer and woman but we spend the money????So don't lose weight, stay on a heavy bike and enjoy being further back in the race than you needed to be.
  8. Not if you have a slim ass, big balls and still want to be faster- stupid comment!
  9. Good to hear great reports
  10. Then they should only charge more for good service and not everything else in the shop!
  11. I understand the 1 % really, just don't get how they obsess about people who obsess and then say how can you be so obsessive????Just say you don't worry about it-full stop. Just to put it out there, just like fat people say they can't bother to watch what they eat, they would rather be fat and happy. Well lets make it clear, it's not one or the other- you can worry about weight in what ever form bike or your ass and enjoy every minute of it!
  12. She is light and mean, just like the bikes and riders she likes PS Covie- you seem to obsess alot about other people obsessing??? We are not obsessed- we just want light bikes -simple!
  13. You know what, sometimes you win on the Hub and sometimes you lose, now it has become quite bloody clear that 99 % of bike industry is about saving weight- So if you fall in the 1 % I'm really happy for you and your weight choices in life, just back the hell off - signed the other 99 %
  14. Just a guess of prices, come on.....mtb hard tail and full suspension- xt/ xtr groupsets?
  15. Agreed cat-i Lighter bikes and lighter people perform better, we nearly all strive towards both at different stages. If you don't, then don't get involved in our weight debates or ad's simple But maybe we have some closet weight weenies???
  16. I agree with Coenie- when they give me a lane to cycle in ,I'll gladly pay for a bicycle licence and then also stop properly! But when a car or taxi turns in front of another at a traffic light, we will be the first sitting ducks to be hit!
  17. I agree with those stats. I'll always stop and then go if safe to do so ,waiting at a traffic light makes me feel like a sitting duck.
  18. Thanks for heads up The sad thing is they are gradually decreasing the areas that we can enjoy our riding in, till eventually it will only be in enclosed ,electric fenced parks!
