  1. I greet everyone but I am a mountain biker. Most people don't greet back but I don't care. I generally just raise my fingers as a wave whilst still holding onto the handlebar if I am out of breath.
  2. I agree.
  3. http://www.bicicletta.co.za/GenuineInnovations/Genuine%20Innovations_Tubeless%20Repair%20Kit.htm I always carry the tubeless repair kit and I've just bought this pump which is really small: http://www.bicicletta.co.za/CrankBrothers/crank_brothers_Pumps.htm#Power_Pump_Pro You should carry at least one tube.
  4. Marathon is between 40kms and 120kms according to UCI rules.
  5. Definitely needs correcting. Check your marathon distance.
  6. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mountain_biking#Types "Cross-Country (XC) is the most popular form of mountain biking....."

    Groenkloof

My first mtb ride ever was a 13km race at Groenkloof 6 days after I bought my first bike. I loved it! Depends on the person I guess. If you take a newbie to Groenkloof I would advise staying off the singletrack and sticking to the main roads.

  13. Sounds great. Holy, I'll keep you company at the back.
  14. I'm keen. I'm not too fast but I do long rides.
  15. Well done Dirtbreath! Nice pic too. You should add it to this collection: https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=69795&
  16. Grant Cycles (my LBS) always emails me to tell me of the incidents as they become aware of them. CycleLab also publish all known incidents in their weekly newsletter. The cycle shops here in Centurion also seem to email each other about the known attacks as I've seen emails sent out by Grant Cycles which have been published by Cyclelab. Well done to them for keeping us informed. There are still folk who don't heed the warnings not to ride in the dangerous areas. A week or so ago a guy rode in one of the known danger zones on his own and he was attacked.
  17. I get strange looks when I cycle with my camera bag clipped onto my handlebars but it is worth it. Many people don't realise how fortunate we are to be able to ride at Northern Farm. I agree! Would love to see some pics from the guys in the rest of the country.
  18. Northern Farm in May.
  19. love groenies when the floro's like this This photo was taken almost exactly a year ago (two days short of a year ago) so it should be like this round about now.
  20. If it's Northern Farms I'm keen to join you guys for a bit. I have to do a 5 hr ride so some company for part of the time would be fantastic.
  21. How about some singletrack at Groenkloof? (Again I must apologise for the lack of sunrise and sunset ).
  22. Sorry but I rode at midday so I don't have any sunrise or sunset pics.
  23. Taken during my ride yesterday in Gauteng.
  24. That's no problem. You can be in charge of cooking us breakfast then. I'm sure Mrs Dirt Rider would enjoy a ride as would Dirt Queen.
