  1. Congrats on your 7th place Thug. Not bad for an ou toppie
  2. Have you got any more info on it? I've giving up boozing but am sure I can still do some cruising.
  3. Is anyone interested in a very social mtb ride on New Year's Day? The venue will probably be Northern Farm. All ages and skill levels are welcome. We will ride at the pace of the slowest rider and will stop for a picnic in the shade next to a dam.
  4. I finally found the start of the trail. It wasn't where I expected it to be though. As you come in through the gate there is a route to the left. You follow this for about 3 kms and then you reach the start! I took a pic but am battling to upload it. Will post it later. The entire route is sign-posted and has some nice singletrack, jeeptrack and even a small bit of tar. It is quite a pleasant route with plenty of climbs - pushed my heartrate up higher than I thought I was capable of!
  5. I know this has been mentioned once before but I received this email this week and thought I should post it. Surely buying a multi-entry ticket which allows one access for 20 visits is not that much of an effort?! Hope I never see these idiots. Dear Mandy, <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> There are a number of cyclists who believe that they have the right to enter Northern Farm at will. Because they ride mountain bikes, they do not need to pay an entry fee, but merely enter from one of the other gates on the farm, enjoy their ride and then leave through the main gate after having enjoyed all of the facilities the farm has to offer. It is mind boggling that people who pay a fortune for a bicycle expect to make use of a facility like Northern Farm for free and effectively steal in order to do so. The argument that they find it incovenient to go to the ticket office to buy tickets as an excuse is like arguing that it is inconvenient to stop at a traffic light when it turns red. On Saturday morning, one such group attempted to enter the farm through the workers village and when confronted by the farm manager got reasonably argumentative about their right to access the farm in this way. This mail is intended to set the record straight and point out to the individuals concerned that they are putting the availibility of the entire venue at risk when they behave in this arrogant and irresponsible fashion. The only authorised access to the farm is through the main gate and accompanied by an entry ticket in terms of which the user has agreed to the rules of access and the indemnity that goes with entry. Anyone entering the farm through any other gate than the main gate is effectively trespassing and in order to protect the interests of the bona fide users we reserve our rights to treat them as such. Should you see anyone attempting to enter the farm through any entrance other than the main gate please assist us by pointing out that this is effectively trespassing. We are also investigating methods of controlling access more effectively and will provide feedbcak in due course. Regards Simon Nash Northern Farm MTB Representative
  6. Wish I could help but I know absolutely nothing about web development. Hopefully a knowledgeable Hubber will be able to help you.
  7. Looks good. All the menus seem to work correctly. The spacing of the paragraph on the right-hand side that starts with "Against a global rainfall" doesn't look quite right. Perhaps a different font will solve the problem. The "asses" in this sentence definitely needs changing though "We will asses your water consumption needs and provide you with a Water Saving, Environmental Friendly & Pocket Friendly solution that actually pays for its self!" I see there is even a beer article for Holy!
  8. I needed to buy a new pump and opted to get a Crank Brothers Power Pump Pro. I am so impressed with the design and functionality. It has both a Presta and Schrader head fitting. All it takes is a simple twist of the pump head and the applicable head is ready for action. I have lost count of the number of times I have dropped the little head fittings of other pumps whilst trying to flip the head around. It can pump up to 8 bar and has a pressure gauge. It weighs 120g and is 175mm in length. It also has a lifetime warranty according to the website. Now I just need volunteers who have picked up punctures so that I can rescue them and play with my new pump http://www.crankbrothers.com/powerpump_pro.php

  10. What's the horse fly situation like? Have yet to be attacked by horse flies at the VTM. Plenty of horses around though. Also spotted some other animals.
  11. Has anyone ridden the new trails yet? I was there yesterday and noticed quite a few cycling signboards but still couldn't figure out where the route started.

  14. A couple have now been delivered - half an hour after sending them. Some are still outstanding.
  15. I sent in some votes via sms and none of them have been delivered.
  16. For me it is as I have to do IDT sessions. I don't think it is worth it for everyone though. I have tried regular IDTs and get bored too easily.
  17. Rain is not a real issue for us Gautengers...well not for me anyway. My big issue is not enough daylight hours. I use my IDT during the week as it is not safe for me to ride alone at night. (I'm a mtb'er).
