  1. Can't begin to imagine what Evan must have gone through!!!!! Very happy to hear she is safe.
  2. :-( RIP and lots of White Light to all those left behind!
  3. WooHoo! Finally fixed my problem! See I posted on this thread ages ago and it's been revived! Changed pads, Rotors, sanded, did setup....did everything to no avail!!!! My Elixir R's continued to have a mind of their own and drive me f@..ing barmy! Finally found a solution one week before Sani2C. Couldn't take it anymore! Now have a dead quiet sharp as razors and what a pleasure to use set of XT's!!!! Mate did the same, so I have two sets of Elixir R's going cheap if anyone's interested.....
  4. Brilliant, puts me right back on the route!!! Might have missed it, but are you going to put up Day 1 & 2? Reason being, showed my wife your Day 3 vid and she reckons it looks all downhill!!! :-)
  5. I don't know what frame you have, but Carbon is not meant to be hung by the frame! I have the Thule G2 or 3 for the tow bar and the roof rack system for 4 bikes like in the 2nd image with the bar that clamps on the down bar and leaves the wheels on! Brilliant! 30 seconds to load my bike and never had a problem!
  6. I had a few descriptive words for "Clint" during that climb!???????????????? ????
  7. It's fake bud! The date of payment differs from the reference number embedded date (April vs. May), so it's not even an intelligent con-man, and besides, I don't give a s#it what they demand, no release of goods until the money reflects in the bank!!!!
  8. Eish! Sorry to hear that!
  9. Wow! At last someone's come up with a tangible solution to this nightmare! How long has this debacle been going on? The way it's been going, the only way it'll end is when the culprit is caught by a cyclist and has the cr@p beaten out of him, there'll be arrests and blowback! Not the best solution, is it? I'm a biker and a cyclist, and saw the carnage between Glenburn and Kloofzicht yesterday morning. Felt very sad and have been thinking about it. The only way to try and resolve this conflict is to try an education policy by getting a group of cyclists to give up their Sat/Sun morning rides, being on the road at the entrances to the route and talking to all cyclists for a couple of weeks. Put up some plastic awareness signs, a gazebo etc. Talk to cyclists at start points (Broadacres, outside the Caves, the T-Junction at Valverde etc) Chat to ThinkBike Ground Team about helping out. See if Mogale Metro won't get involved for a finite period and show support in issuing warnings/fines. Not all weekend riders are on The Hub, so a physical presence on the day is needed to create awareness of a concerted effort to fix this problem. Use it/loseit, but I can't think of any other way to resolve this. All I do know is it's going to end badly if something isn't done. My 2c worth.
  10. Used Jannie a lot as well. Great service and good quality!

  12. I've spoken to the organisers, and the results will be up later today. There was a new timing system used which has huge potential, but a few teething issues.
  13. A lot of "manpower" and manouvering and the truck finally managed to reverse in and hook the showers at an angle, so the car wasn't bounced or touched!!
  14. Good sticking up for 29'ers, but this oke WAS w@nking!!!!!!
  15. We all wish we could be "Racing Snakes"! If the races were run the way you portray, you'd have 10% of the entries, being those that ride a sub-3hr! That's not what they're about! The big ones are for everyone who has an interest in cycling or wants to get a bit fitter, achieve a goal,or whatever it may be that drives them to complete a 100+k race. The sponsors are also there to gain marketing exposure from the masses, not just the Elite. Come on buddy! There's more to this than just the top riders.
  16. Gotta chip in here! This was my 7th Shova in a row! I was disappointed, but then I have to realise the implications of the Title Sponsor pulling out. The whole thing about the races for the "Weekend Warriors" is the vibe, and that was sadly lacking due to cutbacks at every possible point! When I got to the first waterpoint, my initial thought was "This okes pulling a pirate marketing stunt!" I mean it was a bloke with his bakkie and a steel table or two, not what I've come to expect from a race as great as the "Shova"!
  17. I have a Thule G2/3 ? not sure, but takes 3 bikes on my Prado tow bar, and then I have the Thule 4 bike carrier for the roof when I travel, allows me to take my motorbike trailer with. I have a 5 bike caddy on my other trailer. The roof carrier is by far the easist to load, very simple and good on the bikes.
  18. A number of years ago I had 30k worth of fraud committed on my Credit Card at Monte Casino! The afternoon of the fraud I had used my card at Cajees (virtually next door). Working out my movements and Credit Card usage, I deduced that the most likely culprits were Cajees. I picked up the phone to give the Manager a very friendly heads up that there was a possibility that someone at Cajees had committed the fraud, and....... The oke sh@t all over me for even thinking that his staff were even remotely responsible for this!!! All I had tried to do was warn him, and got a very hostile reply! Simple answer, and I hope he reads this! How much money do you think I've spent on Cycling since then? A "kakhouse" full, and not one cent of it was or ever will be at Cajees! P.S. The 30k was eventually refunded by STD Bank!
  19. WTF??????????????? Anyone who can't see the sarcasm (or whatever you choose to call it), manner in which it was written, without knowing the context of the rest of the thread and wants to bash Stranger is a twat! Whoever took the screenshot is obviously trying to cause ***, and you lemmings have taken the bait! FFS! The oke spends every weekend and plus some running his arse off checking and making sure everything on two wheels is as safe as possible at every event they're involved in! Get a life and bitch about something worthwhile!
  20. I'm in the middle!!!! Love everything on two wheels!! Have a number of bikes of both persuasions, Super, Tourers, Mtb and Road, and spend alot of my time on my bicycles and motorbikes. I had this exact conversation at News after Sundays Breakfast Run. D2D was on and there were thousands of cyclists out there! The Motorcyclists were throwing chirps about the cyclists and vice versa! The one side moans about speed and closeness and the other about not holding lines and riding 2, 3 and 4 abreast! The most dangerous as far as I'm concerned from the cyclists side are rookie cyclists looking behind them and swinging out, while the chops on motorbikes buzzing cyclists at high speed take the cake on the otherside! It's all a matter of respect which is sadly lacking in this country. Compromise is a word that does not exist in many peoples vocabulary, yet it is the only way to go forward. We were against the flow of the race on Sunday and took it slow all the way to the T-Junction where the cyclists turned right just past Maropeng. Once we weren't travelling against the race, the throttle cables were pulled and we rather hastily continued on our merry way!!! We all share something in common, and that's the freedom of the open road and the wind in our hair, be it at 20-80km/h or 100-300km/h. You get chops on bicycles and chops on motorbikes, but I am pleased to say that these chops are the minority! Neither motorcyclists nor cyclists can can lay claim to "The Cradle" roads. That is the sole privilege of the residents! (Looks for emoticon to denote "sarcasm") ThinkBike is there for everyone on two wheels, and does a helluva good job marshaling and looking after both sides. The awareness campaign has had a massive effect on cages and is a major success, but as I said, you are still going to get the "boxes"! If one of your mates pulls a stunt or gets out of line, sort him out, and let's realise that we're going to have to share. P.S. Those speedbumps on Kromdraai are more like "Tabletops"! I'm going to post this on the TB Forum as well. Safe ridind all!
  21. Hello!!!!! Spent 30 min now looking for the info on the site! Anyone know the answer?
  22. I mailed Judy yesterday afternoon and got a reply last night! She's on the ball!
  23. Phone Garmin/Avnic up here in Joeys and they'll let you know where get it down there. They're the distributors, quite a helpful bunch! 011 251 9999
  24. Drove the wif, kids, trailer, bikes'n all down to the coast on Sat, flew back on Sunday to finish off at the office, and flew down again last night! Big smile when I got here last night to see all the bikes in the garage and my new bike in between the two beds in the one guest room! Got my wife and Mom trained well! Well done girls!
  25. I'm 1.94m and ride a 21! Best money you'll ever spend initially is on a proper set up for your steed! Read up on it, ask someone you know or go to your LBS and have it done, preferably the LBS route!
