  1. That is 100% correct, the spider will make up the bulk of the cost of the system, as far as we can tell the rings will be propriety but we will see once we get our grubby paws on some. The cost of the C1 system will be similar to a Dura Ace Stages arm BUT it will offer L/R balance etc to with in 1.5% accuracy. In terms of availability we are looking at around May to have some of these new systems landed in S.A and final pricing can only be confirmed then as this Rand of ours doesn't know if its coming or going.
  2. There may be other options in the near future however with the majority of the market running 110BCD and the 5 bolt system this is the focus for now. should the chain rings not work on your bike we can offer pedal or hub making PowerTap the only power system that will work on pretty much any bike in one way or another.
  3. Thank you all for the kind words, please remember if you experience any issues, that we are always a phone call or mail away, please do not struggle with our product. You can reach us on 0110232777 or info@bicyclepower.co.za
  4. if i recall correctly Stages starts from R9500 to around R12500/13500??? PowerTap from R9995.00
  5. PS: We mustn’t confuse average power with normalised power. On the road these will be quite different, but indoors, when you have a very low % of zero power time, ave power and NP tend to be about the same. Which goes back to why indoor training is so good – you use every second !
  6. Think of it this way – your muscles that drive the pedals don’t know how much you weigh or whether you are climbing or not - they just turn the pedals based on the force required overcome the restance, whether that’s climbing a hill or pushing air out of the way. Weight is only important if you are climbing (because you need to overcome gravity) but the muscles don’t care how the resistance is made up, they just have to work to overcome it.
  7. in short ave power will need to be 278w 1000kj/3.6 = 278w irrespective of weight.
  8. CycleOps SA comments on the Tim Noakes Diet. Please find the attached .pdf for your reading pleasure. CycleOps SA and Tim Noakes.pdf
  9. looks like FlippieJ won the league over all, well done, i will be getting in contact with him to send off the PowerTap PowerCal prize!!!
  10. not from our side, i can create a race but it wont from part of a cup just yet, still working on the ruling for the new event.
  11. so here are the resistance curves of both the PowerBeam and the Fluid 2, from here you can work out what powers you are able to produce based off speed, sorry speed is in MPH. i think with the Fluid 2, although it does not have controlled resistance one is able to settle into a very nice rhythm and just keep on top of the Power constantly, with the PowerBeam due to the controlled resistance and the up and down nature of a route its sometimes difficult to settle into a rhythm. i know i had this problem on one of the Tuesday night races a few weeks back, because the route was up and down i really did struggle to keep 320-370w.
  12. sorry i did not join in last night guys, just felt flat the entire afternoon. the route was really challenging especially at the end if you did not pace yourself correctly. points will be put up soon as well as the over all winner. well done to all who completed.
  13. next months cup is going to be slightly different and will allow users more flexibility
  14. oops thats an epic fail if no power is shown, let me have a look and see. nope i was riding on the front of the bunch on my own for the first 2h and then sat up and chilled for the rest of the ride.
  15. a lot depends how you ride it, below is a link to my file as you can see the first 2h i was flat out at the bunch at 240w ave and NP around 280w http://my.virtualtraining.cycleops.com/en/dave/workout/224229?target=calendar&period=month
  16. sorry about that, not enough coffee.
  17. i have tallied up the points and we have the following: FlippieJ 58 Dipslick 50 Frostie 35 JacoC 35 Rouxtjie 19 Dwall911 17 Slowashell 15 please let me know if there have been any username changes.
  18. Wednesday the 30th race is up: http://my.virtualtraining.cycleops.com/en/onlinerace
  19. give me a call up tomorrow and i can explain this to you in more detail, power is a result of how hard you push on the pedals and in your case the change in grade will not effect power at all as your trainer is not resistance controlled. like i said give me a call up tomorrow and ill do my best to run you through this, even loan you a PowerBeam Pro for a week if you would like so you can understand the difference.
  20. this is correct, if you looking for routes with video for training only give us a call and send a hard drive to us we have over 120GB of routes we can load for you for free.
