  1. I put it in italics cause I was being sarcastic haha
  2. Yip, looks like each of his few rides were at least in the 100's of km. Also I can't see these cranks being anything but cheapies. *what crank? I thought it was his BB that snapped ?!
  3. @FRAIL K any idea who the manufacturer is? Just wondering, as that is a super important part of the picture.
  4. Ok, I was just wondering. Also the crank spindle is what snapped, not the BB
  5. Just out of curiosity, what brand are the cranks?
  6. I was also wondering... Maybe the cranks are second hand?
  7. That's what I love about bikehub, so many people, all with a shared passion and many different perspectives. Someone on here always has some kind of a solution for a problem (even if it is somewhat a bodge lol)
  8. Depending on how urgently you need it, you could always go to the hardware store and buy washers. My friend's brother did it, and still going strong after 2 years.
  9. Having ridden both SRAM (level, code and guide) and shimano (xt, deore, slx and the cheapies) extensively, I can say that I honestly much prefer SRAM. If bled right, they can feel very similar to a shimano, just with a bit more modulation, however, I definitely felt that my SRAM levels started experiencing brake fade pretty fast (and I am a super light guy) whereas the shimanos seemed to do a little better. In my opinion, shimano for xc brakes, SRAM for enduro/downhill and Formula for everything 😜. At the end of the day, brakes are pretty much just personal preference, so what one guy likes, another may not. I hope this helped, and happy riding.
  10. haha that's also why I ride a fancy steel hardtail, love his videos
  11. Hey man, personally, the ESI grips are the softest grips i have ever used, and they last pretty well. Only reason I stopped using them is that after I moved from riding xc to enduro, they couldn't hold up to the more frequent (and worse) crashes. hope that helps
  12. Howzit, I think @Snaagi still does aluminium frame repairs. I have seen the quality of his work and it is top notch. Also I believe some bike brands send aluminium frames for him to repair.
  13. Pyga slakline frame... pictures hopefully to follow soon
  14. Unless you are dead set on the Merida, then David Mercer could make you a very similar (although much cooler :D) aggressive hardtail frame. In my opinion, they are simply the best steel frames money can but - but they are actually great value and not too expensive -. Also, depending on how desperate you are to get it, and what frame size you need, I am gonna sell my Mercer hungry monkey (medium) with a 140mm revelation (2 months old), full xt drivetrain, new Lyne bars, Ardent tires that have seen very low mileage, etc... DM me if u interested for full spec, likely gonna be selling in a month or 2...
  15. Slakline is an amazing bike! great climber, and even better descender. Sure climbs better than my friend's torque lol. Also the hyrax is just a slakline frame with a shorter travel fork and shorter rear shock stroke. I definitely agree, talk to Dean. Just got a fresh slakline frame from him, arriving tomorrow! Another thing to consider is getting parts for the canyon and the warranty may be difficult, because they are overseas.
  16. Thanks bru, will drop him a whatsapp
  17. Thanks guys! I am likely going to build up a pyga slakline in the near future... watch the post your pyga forum in the coming months 👀
  18. Howzit all, I have been debating whether to get an enduro bike (160 rear and 170mm front - or thereabouts) or an all-mountain bike (140 rear and 150/160mm front). This will be my first full sus, as I am coming from a 140mm aggressive hardtail. As for where I ride, Tokai twice a week (both DH line and the xc trails) and the occasional trip to hellsend. I am all about having the maximum fun, and I am pushing my hardtail to the limits where it gets very sketchy and almost takes some of the fun out of riding - for me at least. I am unsure which one will suit me, and my riding style, better.
  19. Such a good photo that encapsulates how much he loved his riding. I always wanted to ride with him as he was my uncle's best friend and truly a wealth of knowledge and skill when it came to mountain biking, sadly I never got the chance. If anyone has any stories/memories with him feel free to share.
  20. Lionel was suddenly taken from us over the weekend. Anyone who has ridden the tokaiMTB trails will know how much effort and passion he put into them. His nonstop drive and fundraising skills helped turn tokai into what it is. Anyone who has been to his store will know how he was always there to help, give advice or just chat. We will greatly miss you. Rest easy brother.
  21. If any mod wants to lock this thread, feel free. If this does not get locked then I am more than happy to let this die because it is resolved. Once again, thanks to everyone who contributed, I am glad that I sorted it out with Barry and I feel it apt that after this message, everyone (me included) should just ignore this thread and let it die. As it has no use anymore.
  22. Thanks Barry. I do not want to argue with anyone, least of all like minded MTBers. Thanks everyone for the participation and positive replies in this thread. All contributions were greatly appreciated.
  23. I am not screwing with anyone or trying to cause sh*t at all, sorry if it comes across that way. Things often get lost in translation over text.
  24. Easy buddy, no need to get aggressive. This thread started because someone was harassing me and being racist. it sounds like you are justifying his actions. There is no place for racism in my opinion, maybe there is in yours?
