  1. Was jy die dame met die pienk kat ore? As dit jy was het ons saam teen Smutswinkel opgegaan.
  2. Sjoe!! Was hot yesterday. First Argus for me and the wifey without any seeding races and only 2 weeks training due to the midmar training (also first one this year). Started late in OC and remained with the wifey till 60km's where the marshalls were telling people to get on the busses as they wouldn't finish. Decided that I would go on alone from there as I felt strong enough. Up to that point we were averaging about 14 or so km/h. Chappies was boiling hot with bodies all over the show on the way up. At the top it looked like a warzone with bicycles and buggered people in every shady spot available. I was lucky to get some ice and cold water at the bottom of Chappies which saved my day. Made the mistake of drinking coke before suikerbossie which almost immediately set the legs into slight cramping every time I got out of the saddle. Nursed the leggies up suikerbossie and then hit the home straight. Finished in 6 hours with an average of 19km/h without walking anywhere. Phoned the wifey a little later and was astonished to find that she kept on cycling from where I left her and she had just been stopped at the foot of Suikerbossie with 18km to go. Tough cookie that one. Next year we'll train a bit more and do a sub 5. Only gripes were the youngsters in the green jerseys that cut in front of everyone without looking and the too cool folks at Camps bay that were too scared that they would lose their social standing if they dared to encourage anyone. Every cafe was packed along the road but it was deathly quiet.
  3. After the first race 2 years ago I swore never to ride it again but my buddy talked me into riding again last year. Same muddy grass mess that messes up your whole setup. Added to this the serious congestion at the first piece of single track through the little forest and you have a pretty crap day out. 2 years in a row we were lapped by the front runners in the forest without doing a km of riding. Marsh smells like a sewer and I ended up with the runs for 2 years in a row. Not worth the effort.
  4. I opted for the Holdfast setup. 2 Top Runners mounted on the roof-rack which in turn is fitted to the trailer with their Gutter Extrusions kit. Works like a charm especially since you don't have take off the wheels on each bicycle. You realise the value of this after a long tiring ride with beer goggles setting in from some cold ones at the finish. I carry 4 full size mountain bikes without a problem and the whole jobby can be removed in minutes from the trailer. I got the entire setup from Cyclehouse in Pretoria. Speak to Anton he'll give you a good deal.
  5. Try Anton or Wian at Cyclehouse (zero12) 546 9855. Was there a week or two ago and they've got the new Ghost catalogue.
  6. Does anyone have a GPS track for the 36/42km that I can look at. I would like to see where I went wrong on Sat.
  7. Only gripe was the 2 unmarked ditches on the singletrack sections. One on the downhill before Midstream and the other next to the fence about 4k's from the end.
  8. Was a very nice ride even with the stinky bits here and there. One could see that a lot of work was put into the track by the organizers. Was still a very bumpy ride with all the new track which is good preparation for the cattle tracks at Hazeldean on the 25th. Singletrack will be even more nice after a few competitions as it settles in. At one stage I was waiting for a Ewok to jump out of the bush in the portion through the forest as it felt just like being in Starwars on a Speederbike.

    Camelbak

Got a Camelbak Lobo from Solomons in PTA North a few weeks ago. It's true, it can hold the kitchen sink together with 3 litres of water. Best value for money I've seen in a long while. Paid 500 bokke and there was quite a few available then. http://www.solomons.co.za/files/camel.png
  10. Thanks for the replies. I got two of them with the bars and gutter kit and I am very impressed with the whole package it even comes with a sleeved cable and lock. Solid feel and everything works. Carried four bikes this weekend to Roodeplaat for the BSG Tri-series and all was well. Well done Holdfast on a great product!! Ps. Got mine from Cycle House in PTA north and thank you to Anton for the great discount. Shade over R2300 for 2 top runners, complete set of bars and the gutter kit.
  11. Anyone using this type of rack on a trailer? Are they any good or not?
  12. If someone is looking for a good price, I bought myself a CS300 from Solomons in PTA with extra cadence meter for a shade over R2000.
  13. BTW Cycle house in PTA North has the Maxxis Crossmarks LUST for R360 and they are running a special on the Larsen TT LUST for R220. No stock on the Monorails however.
