  1. Thanks for the suggest @Prince Albert Cycles 👍 @KingZA oooh I didn't realise they have a reflective print option, that I may keep in mind and as a potential solution. If you are happy to share some pics that would be amazing thank you.
  2. I’ve been on the hunt for reflective gear and battling to find anything worthy. After seeing some really effective Ciovita gilets out and about I ordered myself one. turns out the really reflective ones are the older ones and the new one I ordered was far from as effective. Has anyone had any luck with something being reflective. I do have rear and front lights, but would like something over and above too.
  3. I’m looking for a 3 bolt direct mount 36 chainring to test out before I look at buying a new one. If anyone has one laying around that they want to maybe part ways with?
  4. Anyone have a 36T chainring that is a direct mount kicking around that they want to get rid of? Im wanting to “try” one out before buying a new one.

    TransBaviaans 2025

I think they allowed it last year where you had to have done a certain amount of events prior but not sure of other years
  6. I saw it too, was a bit of a looker! The frame had a different colour too it though, I haven't been able to find the exact bike yet. I know spez were shipping them with drop bars
  7. The CSA rules stipulate a gravel bike as a bike with drop handlebars. So a MTB with dropbars is then a gravel bike.
  8. I think they've done away with "event" prices and done an "annual" for however many events you choose.
  9. @MATT ROBERTSON I believe this is a "rule" implemented at a CSA level and not at the event level as such. @SamTaylor correct the events are usually sanctioned but the ebike categories are still very much classed as a "fun" category and riders are not awarded colours provincially or nationally. I don't think the bike you choose to ride should limit what you want to race and experience. More people of bikes and doing races is what we should all want at the end of the day.
  10. Trailer for the race highlights
  11. Thanks for sharing the experience! This is one of those rides on my checklist!
  12. My solution to their low ball offers was to block the user profile, no issues since then .
  13. I finally got a response from an email I sent on 8th of Jan to them, seems they had a big backlog of support.
  14. Yeah good luck on their email, I emailed them and it took around 3-4weeks for a response. I called them first thing one morning and managed to get through. I have finally gone through a store/agent to handle it all as the process that Garmin uses, I had very little confidence.
  15. I recently purchased a few pairs of Vye's trail shorts! So far really stoked with them 💪 I have preferred them over Ciovita's trail shorts, despite Vye's shorts being a bit tighter. Interested to see how the last while being used over the coming months!
  16. Another interview on Pinkbike too - https://www.pinkbike.com/news/interview-greg-minnaar-on-setting-up-a-dream-world-cup-team-with-norco-bicycles.html
  17. There was a similar conversation around the 500 series events last year - Really wish they would be more clearer on the events so expectations can be met. Hoping to do the Bura500 this year as we still have unfinished business!
  18. I recently got myself the Garmin Edge 540. I had a small OTB recently and since then the device is permanently "Acquiring Satellites". Has anyone experienced this before or have any suggestions? Going to try reach out to Garmin and see from there too, figured to try here first 🤞
  19. Wrapping up tomorrow with 59km to go! Durbs has had some rain over the past week. I also had an OTB riding Karkloof last week Friday which caused me to miss 2 days.
  20. I tried a similar approach with the backpack from Lizzard ( https://lizzardonline.com/collections/enduro-bags/products/trek-backpack ) wasted my cash
  21. I have a USWE Outlander 3 and Salomon ADV SKIN 12 from running. The USWE is great for the shorter riders where I need to carry minimal spares as the pack can't hold too much. For longer rides where I need to carry a bit more I prefer my Salomon vest. I also find it more comfy than the USWE as well as being more practical.
  22. Exactly as @Dogs has suggested booking a tour via Freedom Challenge is the best bet! They manage everything you need for land access and accommodation.
  23. Some nice loops in and around Karkloof. You are going to hit some hills though! Following from mazambaan this is the loop we did for SA Gravel Champs - https://www.strava.com/activities/9639134603 Most of that route should be pretty accessible as well as Karkloof is pretty well sign posted.
  24. It sounds like you have both Garmin Connect and WattBike connected to your Strava which is why the are both posting to Strava as they are both recording their own activities. I would get a bluetooth HR strap and connect that to WattBike and only use that recording, not to record in both WattBike and Garmin 👍
