  1. Quite harsh for a first post. But yeah, The Hub will help you to many a good deal! Welcome

  3. Rumour has it that Silverback's new TT bike, the Neotel and Garmin team bikes will be on display at the stage where the band will be playing on Sunday at the Boschendal Mountain Bike Challenge... Pop around and you'll be one of the first mear mortels to lay your eyes on them.
  4. People make money. Deal with it. People are making money with us being on here everyday. People make money cause we have to use the internet to be on here. Most of you doing this while at work to make money at a company in business to make money...
  5. I fly all the time and the price always varies. 5:30 flight cheaper than 6am and 6:30 and from 11amit starts getting cheaper again till about 4:30 or so. Busy times of the year it always costs more, not just on Argus weekend. Dec holidays, long weekends, Comrades Marathon. It's all about supply and demand. Sure there are golf clubs on every flight, but hardly ever more than two or three, that's not a lot. Golfing doesn't have an event where 35000 people show up to compare to cycling so it's not a fair argument I think. As a musician no airline ever charge us for our bulky gear or even when we are just a couple of k's over if we let them know in advance. But when we travel to a big festival from Cape Town and there are between 7 and 10 bands booked on one flight by the organisers then it's a different story. In any case, if I was coming down from CT I would rather use one of the other companies who are bringing bikes down specially for this event. It costs a bit more than what SAA is charging, but they specialise in bike transport, it includes insurance and you can pick your bike up and drop it off in Green Point. I don't get the practise what you preach statement?
  6. Okay so take your estimate of 5000 cyclists times that by the average weight of a bike, or for now let's work on the minimum of 6,8kg and you come to a good 34T. Should SAA just foot the bill? I'm sure the rest of the year they don't charge cause there's hardly ever more than one bike on a flight. Wonder what a boeing /airbus' fuel consumption/ton is. Just imagine how much longer it'll take the groundstaff to check in everything and load al those bikes and make it gets to CT and back to wherever in one piece with no scratches or else there will be another outrage on The Hub. As far as I can remember the news that you have to pay to get your bike down on SAA, Kulula and Mango was discussed a good couple of weeks ago, so obviously the other guys knew. Would you rather drive to OR Thambo to go pay or just pop into a P'n'P? Think before you stink.
  7. What's all this fuss about Satan and what not? Have you guys not seen the original The Crow movie with Brandon Lee? An as bad ass as the big S him/herself. http://www.uberreview.com/wp-content/uploads/thecrow.jpg

  9. Yeah, Bowmans the dealer now, used to be Paragon. What's your email ad? I have a shootout review between 26" and 29" RX that I can mail to you. Definately a worthwhile read. Alternatively I have a Moto Lite frame or complete bike for sale at a killer price on here: https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=22089 It's a 5" travel bike that can be set to 4" as well and many believe the ML is more versatile than a RX.
  10. So now that we now that most cyclists DONT listen to Celine Dion while cycling and that hardcore feature quite a bit, tell us what you use to listen to your favourite tunes while cycling.
  11. So then the next question is, which media player do you use?
  12. remember that scene in the guitar shop in tyne's world, when the assistant points to the sign that says "no stairway to heaven". Surely you mean Wayn'e World?
  13. I posted this so all cyclists out there can be aware and know what's going on. Never intended it to become a mud-sling-fest. If you don't like a certain dealer DON'T BUY FROM THEM AND KEEP THE REST TO YOURSELF. Unless you have 100% factual info that might be worth knowing to the rest of us keep the conspiracy theories for your next braai.
  14. I don't take "work" home with me and definately not on rides!
  15. You oaks been watching Channel O, again!
  16. In this case, only if they are singing! I don't listen to music while out cycling. On the road I consider it to be unsafe and on gravel I'd much rather enjoy the peace and quiet than to listen to another oak's or gal's aches and pains.
  17. Alida: what size bike do you ride? Maybe we can organise you a demo or loan bike so you can see for yourself just addictive mtb'ing is. I have a FS MTB and RB, and I'd MUCH rather spend time on my mtb. It's fun, it's fresh, it's more social, it's dirt, it's difficult and PLENTY rewarding. And when I say it's fun, I don't mean in a don't take it seriousway, I mean I really enjoy mtb'ing. Every bit of it. Anybody wanting to buy a Felt FC with Record...3 months old. But seriously, what size are you? No, not your jean size!
