  1. Ek sal ook join en 'n buddy of twee bring. 8h30 by Die Spar dan?
  2. ***Coughing*** Nevermind...just saw the RRP on your website. What is the RRP on frame only? Looking to build bike for myself and have narrowed it down to a couple of options. Can't kill me to consider the BH, hey?
  3. BTW, what does the G4 go for as is?
  4. KCNC seatpost, stem, handlebar and brake calipers will save a heck of a lot of weight. 082 707 0110 A2Z Ti bolt kit (041) 368 5708 Selle Italia C64 Saddle Zipp VumaQuad Crank This will drop a lot of weight and still make it more than rideable
  5. Yip, not even close to being XC. You'll be looking at: Scott Spark Giant Anthem Felt Virtue Merida Mission Specialized Epic Mongoose Canaan Titus Racer X Tomac Carbide Cannondale Scalpel GT Marathon Yeti AS-R Whyte E-120 Rocky Mountain Element Gary Fisher Hi Fi ...and so on and so forth.
  6. What is your budget? You get Alu frames from R7k up to R19k.
  7. For a shop with stock close to you email the guys at www.twowheelstrading.co.za They are the agents and will be able to tell you where to get your hands on WTB's.
  8. Would be easy if thread topic was "Half naked girls" or Girls in Bikinis" or "If you're wife is bud-ugly read this", but it's not. That makes it less easy. Again, if you guys feel the need for that, start another website or send your wife/girlfriend to gym. Would you honestly look at those pics in the company of your better/other half? Again, nothing wrong with a beautiful or sexy girl, but have some descency and respect.
  9. If you open the front double spread of the new MOUNTAINBIKER magazine, you'll see Mark Weir in action on his Weirwolfs. Have a look at this: http://www.mtbr.com/reviews/Tire/product_122957.shtml
  10. I agree on the avatars, but disagree on the feeling of a thread with gilrs in bikinis. This is a PUBLIC FORUM yes, but we shouldn't make this a breeding ground for soft porn. It is after all a CYCLING public forum. If you guys wanna see girls in bikinis ask your wife to parade one for you or visit FHM's website. Not everybody on here is above 18, we have to respect that. I too have had the embarrissing experience of reading through a thread and a half-naked girl pops up. Not on. Nothing against sexy girls or irls in bikinis, I just feel this is not the place.
  11. They are AWESOME wheels. They and the Eurus are well-known for their reliability and speed. You won't have ANY hub, true, or spokes breaking issues and for the weight and stiffness they are VERY comfortable. Go for it! ...oh, and they are pretty darn freaking good looking too
  12. Get the Weirwolfs. I prefer them over Crossmarks and it's always worth trying out something new.
  13. For a couple of g's extra you can buy my Racer X! It's only R15k over your budget...nothing flowers and a box of chocs can't cover.
  14. Comparable, as in put-you-in-the-attack-position short travel Full suspension XC, bikes. Titus Racer-X Tomac Carbide Scott Spark Giant Anthem Merida Mission GT Marathon Mongoose Canaan (I almost typed Raleigh!!!!!) Specialized Epic Yeti AS-R Cannondale Scalpel Silverback Mercury ...all I could think for now. Now, there are better bikes there. The Titus, the Yeti...well, almost all of them comes close, but the Anthem is avalable as a complete bike for a bit cheaper and is a very dependable, reliable race winning bike.
  15. Mongoose Canaan or Anthem will do the trick. Felt's Virtue Two got a bad review cause of parts compromise, but the suspension design and overall feel of the bike is great. For a long travel XC bike that is, like a Trance. Consider the Mission, but I've heard a rumour that they get discontinued come 09 models. To be replaced by a 100mm stooopidly light dual. Commencal do have specials on '07 bikes, but be sure to pick the right one. Sad to say as I am not Giant fan, but for the money the Anthem might be the best option for what you want to do. PLUS come the day you wanna upgrade you will ALWAYS be able to find a buyer for it.
  16. Both my bikes are insured with PedalCare and even though I (thankfully) haven't had to claim I have received excellent service. Make 100% sure your insurer's cover is as extensive as PedalCare's. I know it can be tempting to go for the cheapest option, but cheap isn't always best. BTW, I dealed with Ricardo direct and he was on the money. Phoned me back, replied on my email questions quick, and gave me a good deal. Hopefully one day when I need to claim I will still sing their praises.
  17. Go to http://www.bicicletta.co.za/ and at the bottom left download the document "Why Fatter Tires are Faster". Finally proof for what we've been trying to convince weight weenie XC racers. Low pressure UST tires are the way to go. Rear 2.1, front 2,35 is perfect for general riding...IMO
  18. Cool, I can accept that. But, tell me, why did Felt not have carbon issues in '07? Then surely it's not because of the factory but the design? Titus also gets made in the East. But they are designed in the US by someone who sepcializes in it. Plus they get tested to BITS befoer they get launched. I've heard people say the don't want to buy a Silverback cause it's local. Haven't heard of a single frame problem. And that's not hear say, that's from somebody who knows. Point is: there have to be a valid reason why Raleigh has had some issues. And, call me whatever you want, but I enjoy riding a bike that's at least a BIT different. If a Raleigh is a Raleigh, why didn't you save yourself a wadload of $$$ and bought one at Game?
  19. For what it's worth: Merida has 5 year warranty Silverback has life-time Cervelo life-time Specialized life-time Nothing is meant to last forever. Not a car, not a bike, not a boat, not a computer. Nothing. Life-time is just another marketing gimmick to get you to buy the bike in the first place. Who on here bought a bike when he was 20 and is still riding it hard at the age of 55? Sure, then a life-time warranty is great...if you still have the receipt to prove you're the first owner!
  20. Do you know for a fact that whatever frame is made in the same factory as Raleigh or are you just repeating BS you heard? Have you been to the East? Do you know Merida has their own factory and manufactures Specialized? Yes, Raleigh have a lifetime warranty and LOTS of people have used it. LOTS. And I'm not just repeating, I know this. But it's a LIMITED life-time warranty. Some people buy a Raleigh. Like some people buy a Hyundai. Other people buy a Specialized. Like some people buy a Audi. Both will get you there, and in the right hands a Hyundai will get there before an Audi. But come on, do we still need someone to explain the difference to us?
  21. I'm sure that's not what he meant and I'm sure you know that too. Did you buy a Raleigh and now feel you have to defend it till death? Felt sponsors Slipstream. A TDF and US race winning team. Felt sponsors Konica Minolta. A SA race winning team. Raleigh also sponsors a local team, but not internationally. By your logic a Felt is a Raleigh is a Trek is Silverback is a Merida is a Giant is all the rest. How come Raleigh had so many carbon frame issues then? Also why does Raleigh change from RC4000 and all kinda weird stuff to something else the next year? Why do they change sizing? Are they trying to get rid of the bad vibes around a certain model? Size changes? Did they have it wrong to begin with? WTF? Yes, it seams that they've sorted their carbon issues, but they are gonna have to go a long way to convince those who know. Also they are gonna have to go a long way to convince buyers that it's an elite brand. It happens. Lots of people won't buy a Giant cause it's a very common bike. Lots of people swear by it. Most RC Team bikes that got sold ended in the parts bin anyway. Don't feel bad. You've got the Raleigh now. Ride it. When you're ready for a REAL MTB phone the guys from Felt (number above) or Titus or Ellsworth or Ibis or Whyte or Yeti or Morewood or Silverback for that matter. There are some Raleighs that aren't THAT bad, some are actually quite good. But, and now this might seem odd, I prefer to not go for a 100km+ ride on the same brand bike our gardener shows up with. And if it helps, he never understood why I paid so much for my Felt when he paid R799 at GAME for his dual suspension Raleigh. Bless his soul.
  22. Phone them tomorrow and speak to Justin. He is the National sales Manager. I have dealed with them in the past and have received great service. Justin, and their CT rep Jorg, are super cool okes. Always willing to chat. Then phone Cycle Factory for the best deal in Cape Town. Felt is definately the way to go. I ride a Virtue One and it's one of the best dual suspension bikes out there. Sorry for the rest that anything close costs twice as much! Felt SA (043) 726 3116
  23. Awesome bikes. Right through the range. MTB, road, TT. LOcal service and back-up is great and you'll find that most if not all Felt bikes are very comfortable. When looking for a new road bike last year I test rode just about everything, including boutique brands and very high end Italian bikes, and the Felt FC came out tops for me. I know Cycle Factory Store in Montague Gardens stock them and have some killer prices. (021) 552 8285 http://www.roadbikereview.com/cat/latest-bikes/road-bike/felt/PRD_404080_5668crx.aspx
