  1. So where is this patch of land you got? I always tell people (especially when they bitch about the current riding facilities) that I'll help build the trails if they can find a place to build them. Within reasonable traveling distance of course.
  2. Just because it's a Northshore trail doesn't mean it has to be 6 feet off the ground with vertical climbs. In fact, if you want to focus on skills development, keep the stuff closer to the ground. This will not only be more forgiving when you do fall off, but will also use less wood and make it easier to expand it. I think Deamon posted a pic of a park in one of the Bryanston Bike Park threads that was built that way.
  3. Surely they got a tracking number when posting it? Ask them to supply it.
  4. So I assume you're getting a brand new one then?
  5. Let's organise a group to go there in February when I get back from honeymoon. That way I can risk injury and the medical aid is recharged!
  6. Anyone... anyone.... anyone....???? from Ferris Beuler's Day Off I was looking for them for weeks before I gave up and just bought strips.
  7. Cool! Think I may have to go visit her' date=' thanks for the info. Do you think she'd be able to give me advice on what I need to get- as the name implies, I havent been playing with bikes for long and am VERY aware that there are LOTS of things I still need to get.....[/quote'] Trust me, Gail knows! I always walk out there with +-R1000's worth of stuff more than what I came in for!
  8. Next to the canoe shop, across the road from that Merc garage with all the old mercs, close to the circle. GPS -26.146072, 28.012009. Or you can go to http://www.mikesbikes.co.za/contact.html Click on 'Directions'
  9. Mikes Bikes in Greenside. Gail knows EVERYTHING!
  10. I remember seeing him. Mostly because he looks funny with that big helmet! The kid has guts!
  11. Which one was Matthew? I saw one kid without a helmet on a bmx, and another kid on a DH bike, but he looked much older than 7.
  12. I had such a ball yesterday at the park! I got there before 8. At about 10 I decided to do one last lap before heading home. On the way up I ran into some of the guys from Trailriding, joined them for a few laps, and fun was had! Chasing each other through the green routes up by the trees - close enough to the guy in front of you to see the dirt getting picked up by his tyres, jumping every jump we could find, nailing the berms... was great. I'm hoping that Oliver will send me some photos. We took some really cool ones.
  13. Sean I have to agree on the right bike for the track. My play bike on the track is awesome. I've had a few times where I managed to get the bike just airborne enough to give me a good fright! I normally use the brakes quite a lot through there as well, since I prefer my wheels in contact with the ground. I mean, what's the use of spending good money on rubber if you're not going to use it?
  14. Stop agreeing with me! I need something to bitch and moan about!
  15. Are you mocking me? Today is not the day to mock me! I was working till almost 3am, then I had to get up early(-ish) to come to the office, while all I can think about is my bike! I want to go for a ride after work, but I need to rest, because my legs are sore after the weekend, and my hands are raw from practising pivots and hopping and pedal-ups, so no riding for me today! Luckily I have a 150g box of Smarties that will make me feel better. Well, either make me feel better or make me throw up. I'm hoping for the latter because Smarties are fattening.
  16. While I'm at it, I'll just sell all my bikes! Since I have NO WHERE to ride, why ride at all? The Spruit is too dangerous, Groenkloof too rocky, Northern Farms too smelly, Logwood too far out of Joburg, the Mine Dumps too sandy, Rietvlei too far South, Breedts Nek too steep... From now on I'll just drive my car and swear at all you cyclists!
  17. I decided I'm not going back to the bike park ever again! Obviously the wood is sub standard, which is why everything is just falling apart. And the pump track sucks, because I can only do about 3 laps before I start seeing stars. And the grade of the soil doesn't agree with my tyres. Oh, and the trails aren't smooth enough, so it's uncomfortable with my rigid bike. And the berms are all over the place - how am I supposed to practise cornering when every turn is bermed? Oh, and the highway noise is distracting. And the mud? What the hell? How can a dirt trail get muddy when it gets wet? That's crazy. If these guys knew what they're doing, they would have paved all the trails, taken away all the jumps and technical bits. Then we could all shave our legs and get on our roadbikes and ride around the park. Hell, until they figure out a way to build a 120km base training track on that property, it won't cater for my needs! I'll need to get my money back from them!
  18. I'm waiting to hear back from a couple of friends of ours, will see. The idea is to have the party there, then I can ride in the morning while everyone else recovers. Don't know when I'll recover though
  19. I love the illustrations on the flyer!
  20. Yup Kungweni' date=' it's just one guy that build some loops, jumps and north shore on his plot. More a small skills park than what the mtn park is, quite fun thought. Couple of tabletop jumps that's quite nice. [/quote'] WTF!! Why don't I know about this? Do you know what the opening times are etc?
  21. Typical South African mentality! Complaining about people who complain! I'm with you on this. Enjoy the park people, if you're bored with the trails you're not doing them fast enough.
