  1. This is important for squad building, event invites and UCI points.

I think 2016 is going to be disappointing for our African contigent as these signings are going to be used to amass UCI points and then 2017 I would not be surprised to hear that this is a WT team. With that comes an obligation to attend every WT event and this is where I think the constant race exposure will benefit the Africans in the team who are racing 80-100 days a year with the best in the world.

I think it should benefit the African riders, but will they get called on to do the big races as much as before?

I wonder when results and the need for them will overshadow the idea of "building" African cycling?

  2. I have had a very different experience with my 58cm Cotic X

Started off with the conventional fork, moved to a Lynskey CX fork then finally on a Surly Disc Trucker fork.

The bike has felt very responsive through all these incarnations, and I find steering precise and predictable.

Ride quality is good and the frame, though a tad flexy, is durable and bulletproof.

BB7 road calipers have saved my ass a few times and I have run Gatorskins for three out of the last four years. The bike is now shod in Schwalbe Marathon Extreme tyres, which are extremely hard-wearing in their intended environment.

Actually, it will be - once it returns from powder-coating.

Wheels are custom built - one set for road, one for gravel. Stiff and solid as heck.

This frame's a keeper, for sure.

    Love it to bits.
