Hope this weather holds. Cool and overcast. But then also not. I want maximum satisfaction at the sharp end of the race. Tough conditions for ultra tough riders. Looking forward to an excellent race.

Lekker Okes. 1 week to go!! Hope some of you are doing something for less fortunate folk with your ride. Me and my Munga bud were able to raise R15k for less fortunate people. I must admit that collecting the funds was tougher than completing the race. People promised but when collection time arrived it was a different story.

I am very interested to see how Hein Visser matches up to the rest. We have to be realistic in accepting that the race has evolved somewhat since his win two years ago. There are now some hardcore international and local riders competing. Seeing how he does will be very interesting for me. Keen to see Adrian Saffy compete. The man is an animal. Few years ago, he ran the Comrades, got to the finished, turned around and ran back to the start. He is a hardcore endurance machine. He doesn't have to prepare for Munga, he is permanently prepared. Very happy to see that all round good guy Erik Vermeulen is riding. He was race director last year. Gutted to see that Jeannie Bomb isn't riding. My special dot that I will be watching permanently will be Sam Marx. I have had the pleasure of doing some miles with him. The guy is focused, lean, mean and with the level of dedication that he has shown in preparation, he will have a fantastic ride no doubt. Sam also has a very special reason for doing this ride and I wish him the absolute best of luck. Best of luck to all riding. I will be at the start to see you all off. Kick Ass!

The wind has been insane so far this year. Today was very hot and a violent wind from the WRONG direction for Munga. But it can just as well a good wind on race day. In any case. Crying about the wind wont make it go away. I just HTFU and take it. It cant blow forever.

Those are the exact fields that I had. Incuding time of day and temperature.I have to ride with my hr monitor..I feel naked without it.

There is a tracking site. Just cant remember the name. Each rider has a tracker so you can check where they are at any time.

I made some new friends today. They loved my bike so much that everybody had to go for a ride on it!
