  1. Looking forward to this race.
  2. Gallows single track was rad for me. Even as a roadie. that being said I don’t think my girlfriend would have enjoyed it.
  3. Agreed - Dryland know what they’re doing. Sad to miss it.
  4. The expert is very well priced at the moment… XPLR is great but if you’re doing some of the bigger climbing races the ratios can be a bit of a grind. Or you have to run a small ring.
  5. About 28 minutes
  6. Me too… me too.
  7. Will be very interesting…
  8. Debatable. Depends on the mud.
  9. I have been riding a Crux for the last three years and have been extremely happy on it, if you have any questions I am happy to help. I have done pretty much all of those events, and done quite well in all of them, so if you want to race and not just ride I would say you would be very happy on a Crux. Stock levels are a bit low right now, but a top up is expected soon. The bikes are also extremely light across the range of models from comp to s-works, with a comp coming in at about 8,6 kg when my girlfriend got hers, with alloy wheels. Mine weighs in at 7.5kg in race spec, s-works with sram xx1 mulleted with red shifters and crank. For 36one it was still only 8kg... It is a weapon. The bike is extremely comfortable, but again I don't have extensive experience in other bikes. Hit me up via message if you have any questions.
  10. How’s the weather looking? 😆
  11. I was in grade 11. Haha. And Matthys Beukes came top 10 on a vintage road bike the first year I did the race as well after a long day in the break!
  12. So for my personal race day split it is only about 30% of the time I spend on the skinny tyres. And training I always like the bigger tyres for our gravel (mountain biking) in the Southern Suburbs.
  13. Swartberg races (2 on the calendar), Garden Route giro, gravel burn, any of the Gauteng gravel races I’ve done, ceder, are all wide tyres. Greyton area, Caledon, and Hermanus are better on the faster tyres. I haven’t done Stanford but I think apart from the sandy sections it’s better on a faster rolling tyre. So to me it’s 50/50 but I understand the further away races are a bit less frequently attended.
  14. To be honest if you want to enjoy it I think the wider tyres are almost always more fun. Especially if you don’t have serious racing ambitions. The only races I would still run 45’s are the ones around Paarl, wellington, and Riebeek Kasteel, and at race to the Sea. The rest are all better on wider tyres!
  15. Man needs an anonymous account so people don’t know he’s planning on doing winter training outside.
  16. The first loop is quite fast rolling with 4 small sections (about 20km or less total) of chunkier single track and rough gravel where you will need to be careful on 45’s. the final climb is half tar so is quite a bit faster on the skinny tyres. I used a 50 Tracer front and a 45 Pathfinder rear, and I was happy with the combo.
  17. Yeah that was super bleak, it's one of those tragic watches where you are left with more questions than answers, in my opinion. What on earth could drive someone to behave like that?
  18. The boys are back in the lead group
  19. RIP anyone on the wheel
  20. To be honest I already have yours. 😜🥰
  21. I’m in! Super keen for this. Great route and always a fun time when Dryland is involved.
  22. If you need a size large shirt you probably aren’t going to be getting much exposure (except there can be more branding on the shirts)
  23. I tried - I’m too slow.
  24. If anyone wants a list minute partner, I’m here 🤣
