  1. Disc brakes only make you slower... Haha. Sloth approved!
  2. Thanks, I will definitely give them a call as it is about 5 min down the road from me.
  3. Hi Gang I managed to get my hands on a really nice pair of ENVE 3.4 disc hoops with ENVE hubs, but they have a 12 speed SRAM XDR freehub body on. However, I have a Shimano DA groupset... So I need to run a Hyperglide (HG) Freehub. From my research, it seems like the ENVE hub is based on MAVIC's ID360 hub, but I have very limited understanding of freehub compatibility. Does anyone have any idea where I could find a Shimano freehub for the ENVE's? Is there an ENVE distributor in SA? Thanks in advance for the help! Attached are some photos of the internals.
  4. I thought you were talking about yesterday, sorry! I was 6 years away from starting cycling in 2014 so my history knowledge isn’t great 😅
  5. Also, so stoked for Clarke. From no contract to a TDF stage win on a super tough stage, he was probably one of ISN’s best investments of all time, and he has been bringing in points for their battle against relegation! So glad I put him in my Fantasy team 😅😂
  6. I think he finished fine? Edit: finished 84th with Louis’ group, 4’12 back.
  7. I had an Ultimate, loved it. Great bike. The build quality is insane too. I do think they may be releasing a new one soon if that is not it? Maybe worth waiting for that... https://road.cc/content/tech-news/movistar-races-new-canyon-ultimate-294169 I reckon it will be out soon. Be quick when you order
  8. Hey guys. I am looking for a 20h rim brake rear hub. Happy to pay if necessary. Cheers!
  9. Damn... I saw a guy riding one of these in like a lava red maroon colourway with SRAM red in Hout Bay the other day. I had to stop and chat too him - stunning bike.
  10. Completely understandable, haha. It is a mean machine. I love the look of Furbz's Aurums... Another great option.
  11. I chatted to the store and they are happy putting dura ace on a large Aerfast 3, and a custom spray job of your choice. Just saying 😜 I know that the frame is a bit weird looking and it’s not for everyone.
  12. I wouldn't go for 10 speed di2, I have heard it is a bit of a mission replacing things and the tech is quite old. 11 speed is really good though, 6800/9000 and 8000/9100 can all be mixed together across the 11 speed generations.
  13. Of the people I know with discs, all are really happy with them the majority of the time. Apart from when they are rubbing. Not just the people who have bought it for themselves but the pros too.
  14. Don’t worry. I agree. But I am also convinced a large number of riders would be happy on a gravel bike and switching road and gravel wheels than on a pure road bike. I would say at least a pair of training wheels with 32s would be lovely for a road bike around Cape Town. I’ve started hopping onto the new trail up the side of constantia nek on my road bike and it’s fantastic - but I wouldn’t recommend doing it on nice racing tyres, unless you like risking them 😅
  15. Highly possible. I was in my red and black rh77 kit, on my way to the store around then with another cycling friend. I hope I waved. I had just been puzzling into the headwind
  16. From one Sid to another... Storck Aerfast 4. That frame is rapid and fairly light for an aero bike. I am biased but I love that thing. And it is within your budget. Tell them Dan sent you. Also if you don't like the green get it stripped and resprayed, can probably do it within your budget if you chat to them, or send me a message and I would be more than happy to help (I would appreciate the opportunity). https://cycling-friends.com/shop/storck-aerfast3/68-203-aerfast4-pro-disc-dura-ace-di2-2x12.html#/3-size-l https://bikerumor.com/storck-aerfast4-aero-road-bike-pushes-uci-limits-plus-new-fascenario4-more/
  17. Yep I thought it was you there, I am correct, I think I just imagined the size of person that happily rides tiny bicycles. There was a giant on a Giant we caught later… huge oke.
  18. My humanities brain calls that a short race report compared to the usual lengthy essays covering politics, philosophy and economics lol
  19. Not at all, we are both fairly new to racing and don't really back ourselves for the sprint so we were trying hard to go a bit further out. We never closed each other's attacks, just following wheels, and then countering. It is definitely a skill that takes some practice! Hopefully our "finisher" Shameeg can teach us some tricks
  20. Thanks guys. Firstly, @Jewbacca you were larger than expected. Kilt looked good though. Secondly a short race report - after a very chilled first 50km with a lekker wee stop the skinny bois lit it up on the climb to Piketburg which did a fair amount of damage to the group. We went into feed zone 1 a few km later with just under 20 I believe and we had a nice rolling paceline with no one skipping turns, and all 5 of us Cycling Friends in the group. We attacked again at the second feed zone and eventually about 10 guys were together going to the Elands climb. On the climb we hit the accelerator a bit with my team mate Reece opening up about the first half while I pulled the second half-ish until Jaco took over, before peeling off and inspecting the damage. We needed to take a small group but gently squeeze off the guys in the bunch so that chasing back was unlikely and we executed that well. We were left with 5 which reduced to 4, all cooperating. Attacks started with just under 15km to go and we tried our best into the head wind but unfortunately neither Reece nor myself could shake the other two for very long, we ended up going into the last km as three, when Reece opened up his sprint a bit early as there were no distance markers after 3km left. I let the wheel go but Jaco jumped across to Reece. I tried to come round but unfortunately the legs weren't so keen to sprint after 217 km! All in all it was a decent day out and an impressive performance from our young team which I am proud of. As every race for me has been going lately a lot was learnt, hopefully I can stand on the top step soon. Thanks to Myriad and WP Cycling for a great event. Apologies in advance if I got anything wrong. Mind goes a bit blurry over almost 6h of racing!
  21. See if you can find a way to message these Hubbers with expired ads and track down the bikes https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/road-bikes/486078/cervelo-soloist https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/road-bikes/54733/cervelo-soloist https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/road-bikes/100168/price-drop-cervelo-soloist-carbon
  22. Came here because I am a short rider. Whoops.
