  1. Revival: Is anyone waxing their chains in the Southern suburbs? I’m on a student budget but I’m really keen to try with the new drivetrain I’m going to put on my road bike, so I thought I would ask now. Please let me know
  2. Thanks! How was yours?
  3. Alright, still learning a lot. Missed the split and then tried to go for it from our second group from about 2km left on the last hill, just to be first out of our group. I sent it into the last corner, popped, and was overtaken by a small following group. I think I ended up about 12th or so. But I am waiting for my results to be uploaded as I don't have a chip and they don't have any to sell to us post-lockdown learner-riders so they are using the finish line video footage and strava files for cross referencing.
  4. Indeed, I am the one with the dead chain.
  5. @JBR I think a lot of us who don’t have working chips are still waiting for results to be uploaded manually, and quite a lot of guys bailed after waiting for 30 minutes not really being told what was going on with the ambulance situation and the expected delays.
  6. After needing to service my road bike and my girlfriend’s road bike over the course of the week, I used the Slate for the weekend. I have only really used it in Knysna where I have run quite low pressures on the gravel and then suffered on the tarred sections, but at high pressure, the bike is surprisingly fast on the road. Also the supertuckability is great because of the sloped top tube, it’s faster on the downhills (it is a bit heavier) with the 43c than my supersix with 28c.
  7. Swing me a message on my ad if you want to come have a test ride
  8. Just come give my Slate a try in Newlands, go up to blockhouse on your mtb afterwards and grab a beer at Forries. No pressure to buy it, but you are welcome to give it a try. The guys at Switchback Sports / ECC have a large compliment of Panaracer tyres, they have a slick panaracer with tan sidewalls available in 650bx42c. (https://switchbacksports.co.za/products/gravel-king-650b-brown?variant=28239639052387) I have found the panaracers on mine pretty fast, I even managed to destroy @puresavage on Chappies a few months ago.
  9. I would say skip, but I am usually in favour of skip.
  10. Wout has extreme power. He did not look aero at all in that sprint, I thought he went too early but nope... WATTS
  11. Yoh this is a revival and a half! Congrats
  12. Is this going to be lap two after our team time trial?
  13. I stayed here during rowing regattas at Eikenhof dam while I was at school. It is a really awesome place, I highly recommend visiting. It is such a beautiful part of the world
  14. Not enough love for Brian on this thread!!! What a tank. He raced DC in 4:57 just two weekends ago as well. GO BRIAN
  15. If you guys ever need a student to help out around the office hit me up... I am free from today until mid March
  16. This is awesome!!! I have chewed people's ear off about something like this on many a ride... I have had great experiences with fellow hub users but I know there are some bad apples out there. Next up is a deal with a courier service where we get a small discount and you guys can charge a small commission for the set up... I have spent far too much money at Postnet. Good job guys.
  17. This is awesome. It makes me want to go ride my bike... Really badly...
  18. He would want nothing less... It was a hammer in solidarity!
