  1. Ya its pretty hefty .... Nico said that a light bike is bull for DH ... From Dirt Mags review Aside from the development angle the feeling the use of aluminium, Vouilloz cited the feeling that an aluminium bikes gives over a carbon one. The reactivity and and feedback through a downhill bike is an important factor and right now Lapierre feel aluminium is the right stuff for the job. Super light downhill bikes don’t seem to be high on Nico’s agenda too, the consumer is going to crash and the twisting forces imparted by triple clamp forks are a threat to the integrity of a frame. He would prefer to have a frame that will last and building this one from aluminium makes sense to him and Lapierre. 2. 650B single pivot linkage driven .... 210mm travel! All Alu for the meantime http://www.pinkbike....-look-2014.html http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p5pb11031807/p5pb11031807.jpg http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p5pb11031805/p5pb11031805.jpg
  3. That is a very cool track until you come out of the woods off that stepdown road gap ... From there its pretty flat ... until the last drop into the finish arena. The rock sections up top are amazing though ... Looks like they have filled in all the holes with new base material .. but in one days practice the holes will be back.
  4. I got the missus a 650B Juliana Furtardo Primero 140mm Carbon Enduro Weapon ... And she loves it ... its not about the wheelsize - its about the Geometry and suspension design ... I personally wouldnt go to 29er as I think they all ride like crap! - Fair enough they are the best option for 99% of our races here in SA - but I still hate the ride ... So I would go 650B rather - but thats just my opinion as a world champ :whistling: hahahhaa
  5. i started uploading stage 4 to youtube now but it puked. so will do it on thursday so stay tuned
  6. OOH thats a good job dude ... Heal up fast dude ... You and Peach can be Spruit Cheerleaders for a bit - someone needs to get you some pompoms
  7. I run Flow EX on my DH bike ... The Wife has Arch EX on her 650B Enduro Bike For 99% of SA trails the Arch is more than strong enough for most riders - The Flows are overkill for Trail or XC
  8. A little teaser of the final stage for the 2014 Giba Gravity Enduro ... this is one of the most fun stages I have ridden. And you will finish into a big finish arena set up like the world cup - so picture fans lining the stage as you pop out next to the Cafe ... gonna be AWESOME! (sorry PEACH..)
  9. http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p5pb11002627/p5pb11002627.jpg Devinci's new 160mm, 650B, Enduro Rig - the SPARTAN!

  12. And ... here is a little snippit of what is in store on Stage 1 (Gravity Dice) .... AMAZING Stage - steep and drift at the top - little bit of pedalling - but just loose and fun!
  13. To all potential participants ... REMEMBER - Free Fox Race Jerseys to the first 50 entrants Free Burger and Soft Drink at the end Free DRAUGHT BEER!!!! and Lucky Draws to the max!
  14. DaveD and I are currently planning the stages - We have already filmed 3 of them ... We are looking to have 5 stages - but may have to reduce to 4 dependant on whether the Timing guys can come to the party or not. We will be using Elite Timing - the same guys who did our entire provincial series. There is one BRAND NEW stage that has never been raced in Enduro at Giba before as well as a new section for stage 3 that will only be revealed closer to the time ... If all goes to plan - racing will end up with 755m Vertical Descent over 10km of race stage. if we need to drop a stage because of timing then it will be 600m Vertical over 7.7km of race stage. Hope you all come in and race
  15. Right guys and girls, its almost time again for an insane Enduro Event .... ENTRIES ARE OPEN ON ROAG! http://www.roag.co.z...ity-enduro.aspx http://www.gibagorge.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/Giba-Gravity-Enduro-Poster-2014-WEB.jpg

  18. hahahaha Yeah I saw that the other day - looks good.
  19. hahahahaha I think he does every time he swings his leg over his surf board or his bikes. hahahaha But they give a good representation of what Giba has to offer outside of the standard run-of-the-mill Blue route Green route and Purple route where the trails are groomed to perfection for you riding convenience ... hahaha
  20. and some more
  21. some other pics of Gibas lesser known / ridden trails
  22. some pics of the enduro trail courtesy of Esmeralda Pingo and Craig Richards
  23. Hey Gen ... I think you are thinking of a different trail ... the Enduro line that is mentioned in the Giba website is not part of any of the main trail network - it starts next to the DH and is only accessible by riding down the tar road at the top away from the park. You are most likely thinking of Gravity Dice with the tabletops ... that is part of the Blue route. Unless you get someone to show you where the start of the Enduro section is you will not find it as it has no trails leading up to it.
  24. Yes it is very realistic! ... Myself and some of the other downhillers built it. There are 1 or 2 jumps but you can go around them! There are a good couple of steep sections where we have put in B-lines that are tight but not as steep. The main thing with the trail is the gradient .. Its properly steep - so you either need to drop your seat or have a dropper post. It can be done with your seat up - but its just uncomfortable the Video is of the track
  25. Sister in law is also having trouble with her 2012 Spark 30 rear shock Keeps going flat - had it repaired (out of warranty) with new seals - a year later - same issue ... seals have gone ... Asked the LBS (where I used to work - and where we got the bike from - and who had it sorted out before) to sort it out - again not under warranty - another R1500 .... Come on Scott / DT Swiss - sort your shocks out Oh and the Front remote lockout keeps on sticking too ended up just removing the cable as I replaced it twice and serviced the compression adjust cap on the fork ... Still sticks! ... Oh and BB30 ... is CRAAAP!!!
