  2. The UCI ruling states that - a Full face with a peak must be worn - it does not stipulate the type of fullface - so just borrow a mates MX lid!
  3. may as well just add a run down the Masters DH Track for good measure too ...
  4. i cant jump ... hahaha
  5. you are gonna need arms like this if you gonna run a ronnie-rigid! http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-u_RLIP0YzQg/UVPsegWweGI/AAAAAAAAGE4/Mo2fvmDyCnw/s320/top+bodybuilders+pictures+16.jpeg It suits a 29er Hardtail, but the rock gardens are pretty gnar ... so a full sus will aslo be fine - but you will need lock out for the climbs And "Over the Top" is already living up to its name .... seen a couple of okes eat it off there already
  6. but what if you only race for 4 minutes and hit big jumps???
  7. For those of you racing - i hope you have your big boy pants ready
  8. For those of you lycra-clad 29er riding Ballies who have entered the Masters Worlds Champs XC - here is a preview of the course you will have to contend with

    oops!

hahahhaaha classic - But ... if you think that $120 + shipping at probably $60 + tax 14% and import duties 30% .... You are close to R2500
  10. Me at the tender age of 13
  11. some classic pics of back in the day 1. slalom in 1993 at Lahee Park in Pinetown 2. to show how hardcore DH Nationals were back in 1994 at Paarl 3. and 1995 at Cascades - hows the road section behind!
  12. The seat up thing was just because you only had one bike for both XC and DH and then also the DH tracks had some mean uphills in them often - or if not an uphill - a long ass flat pedal section along a fire road ... this often constituted much of the track! hahahaha so Seat up was the way!
  13. The one you rode???? YES - thats the stage that is shown in the video. @Slick - I know - if a bunch of Lycra-clad hardtail riders can do it - surely a hard core tattooed enduro rider can too
  14. Just wait for the new prices of the 2014 stuff - i was given an indication from some suppliers that there will be a 20% or so increase due to the rand/dollar. So an entry level full sus will now be like 25 to 30k!
  15. From the video you go around the rock garden and the road gap ... like you say probably cus Syds too much of a scaredy cat! hahaha

  17. Yes - I would! http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb9846471/p4pb9846471.jpg
  18. Stage 4 - is pretty much the Trail bike friendly DH Provincial we had that goes past the XCO Rock garden http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=hwU2a6lw-0g
  19. It is open and Louis and some of his mates cleaned up some of the MX bike ruts the other day ... I think there are still some ruts on the track and i hear the lip of the step up in the quarry needs to be fixed - but otherwise its open
  20. It depends where you are .... From a safety perspective I had the tracks marked 2 weeks in advance ... so guys were free to ride them so they knew what was coming up ... The same will happen for the enduro on the 27th at Cascades - however there you only have the morning to practice and racing is in the afternoon - BUT - you will likely be allowed to shuttle to the start of stages via vehicle .... But then if you look overseas - some of the formats say that practice is allowed before but its limited, while others have unlimited practice, and then some (like the french) make you ride blind. IMO - practice is good as it increases the safety of the event ... but it does gives okes an unfair advantage on those who havent had a chance to practice ... so the onus is on the rider to make sure they go and scout before the event
  21. No If you are on the Clutch you carry rolling momentum as the car freewheels so this would make cornering crap as you'd be on the clutch and the brakes and not the accelerator... when I navigated back in the day my driver would hardly use the clutch, it was left foot braking with accelerator to line the car up for corners. If you listen closely here as well you can hear when the driver is changing gears ... in a good couple of corners he is banging down the gears using the compression to slow the car down and then smashing the accelerator out of the corner.
  22. LOTS
  23. ??? thats strange .... That timing system is a good idea but they need to work out the kinks in it ... it made a couple of good buggerups ...
  24. hahahahahaha that crash is awesome! .... Dude - did you not see the arrows before saying that there was a sharp turn coming up?
