  1. And there appears to be WAY more line choice here ... Champery (so dave says .... and a lot of the pros say ...) is just a one lined rut down a cliff
  2. noticible - but will it put you on the podium? I doubt it makes that much difference
  3. Sorry but i give up ... we here in PMB will never be able to compete to have the best track when we are up against a beast of a track that is Andorra http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p5pb9880219/p5pb9880219.jpg - @ Unclerico .... and you complain about the offcambers on the PMB worlds track ... and these arent even the offcambers that the guys talk about in Andorra - supposedly there are worse ones higer up! http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p5pb9878621/p5pb9878621.jpg Rock drop into the steeps ... awesome http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p5pb9879129/p5pb9879129.jpg And from below http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p5pb9880197/p5pb9880197.jpg Why dont we have rocks like this!!! :( and then i love the way that the Andorran track builders use nature to sculpt the track for them - dont think this will fit well in our Environmental Management Programme
  4. Just follow the Red and white arrows - they demarcate the course
  5. as far as i know it will - but am not sure on the coverage - it wont be live though - probably will be aired on Supersport at some point
  6. hey guys please be advised of the following rules VIII Chapter MASTERS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 4.8.001 Only licence holders under articles 1.1.001 to 1.1.028 and 4.1.009 may take part in the masters world championships. A race number is only issued on presentation of the licence. 4.8.002 The riders taking part in the masters world championships represent their country, but are permitted to use the equipment of their choice. 4.8.003 All details specifically relating to the masters world championships must be obtained directly from the organiser or from the UCI web site. 4.8.004 The championships are usually organised in 5 year age groups: 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, etc. Depending on the number of participants in each age group, an age group may be divided into subgroups of less than five years or joined with an adjacent age group, in which case there is a single overall classification. 4.8.005 An event is not organised for a specific age group if there are fewer than six riders at the start. However, there must always be a minimum of 2 age groups per event. Please be aware that there is a possibility that your cat may be merged with another cat if there are not 6 riders in your age group ... so keep and eye out on the entry lists shown on the website www.mtbworldchamps.co.za
  7. I agree ... Give Richard a break guys ... the more you complain the worse the image of "Enduro" (the downhill-style one) will get in the minds of the average Joe Mtber ... But having said that .... Thug - just a correction ... Enduro (the dh one) has been around in Europe for 10 years! with a minimum of 6 different series being held across the continent ... You are here referring to the Enduro World Series which only started this year. We just havent heard of it here until now because we are so XCM focussed in SA ... but also by the logic used that 1 or 2 races doesnt constitue a "scene" here in SA ... then the same could be said for Downhill which is very small when compared to Marathon Events. BUT we have a world champion in the discipline ... So it is fine for Richard to use the term for his event as it is still a small discipline here in SA, but at least he has had the term brought to his attention. This terminology issue is similar to the south african view of "Cross Country" .... where what should be specified is Cross Country (Olympic) , (Marathon) , (Stage) or (Eliminator) .... So guys just give the oke a break ... when he gets 150 Full face wearing, 150mm travel bike riding guys rocking up and wondering where the hill is ... he will get the idea! hahahaha
  8. Remember as well that the singletrack is dual lane track so even though it will bunch up a bit on lap 1 - there is no start loop AFAIK .... it will bunch up on the climb .... I stand to be corrected but the start is not exactly where nick started from in the video - last year the start was all the way at the end of that road so you had a 400m sprint up the road to start with then that little climb (which is b@stard-ass steep) ... then down onto the singletrack. So it should be ok - remembering that you will probably start in batches according to your age cat - and currently there are like 50 riders max per cat
  9. all the rule book says about singletrack 4.2.018 Extended single track sections must have periodic passing sections
  10. out of the rule book Cross-country Olympic – XCO 4.2.001 The duration of cross-country Olympic format races must lie within the following ranges or as close as possible to them (in hours and minutes). Minimum Maximum Men juniors 1.00 1.15 Women juniors 1.00 1.15 Men under 23 1.15 1.30 Women under 23 1.15 1.30 Men elite 1.30 1.45 Women elite 1.30 1.45 Men masters 1.15 1.30 Women masters 1.15 1.30
  11. This is still being decided ... but as it stands it the UCI are thinking of the following 30-34 and 34-39 .... 1:30 all other cats - 1:00 Lap is about 20min race time i think - so 4 laps maybe?
  12. thanks sliick
  13. so far there are about 60 DHI entries in total and 300 XCO ... COME ON .... haul those old DH rigs out and come and ride guys!!!!!!!! We need at least 150 ballies in DH
  14. Sorry the spreadsheet didnt carry over In 30-34 look out for Matthias Reichmann from Germany .... I recall that name from somewhere 35-39 - BIG boys - Dirk Lourens ... Robin Rumbelow Supposedly they have been training thick!!! Dirk even rocked up at NAtionals in Mankele with a wind trainer at the start ... and they are both nuts on a bike to boot! so will be 2 guys to watch 40-44 - Gregg BArlow and Myles Kelsey .... 45-49 - Chris Nixon can still pack a good punch 50-54 - My father in law - Peter Hoyer ... he is ready to give it a good go and is hitting all the main drops around pebble beach 55-59 - Kim Phillips 60+ - Neil Fourie rings a bell .....

  16. The UCI ruling states that - a Full face with a peak must be worn - it does not stipulate the type of fullface - so just borrow a mates MX lid!
  17. may as well just add a run down the Masters DH Track for good measure too ...
  18. i cant jump ... hahaha
  19. you are gonna need arms like this if you gonna run a ronnie-rigid! http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-u_RLIP0YzQg/UVPsegWweGI/AAAAAAAAGE4/Mo2fvmDyCnw/s320/top+bodybuilders+pictures+16.jpeg It suits a 29er Hardtail, but the rock gardens are pretty gnar ... so a full sus will aslo be fine - but you will need lock out for the climbs And "Over the Top" is already living up to its name .... seen a couple of okes eat it off there already
  20. but what if you only race for 4 minutes and hit big jumps???
  21. For those of you racing - i hope you have your big boy pants ready
  22. For those of you lycra-clad 29er riding Ballies who have entered the Masters Worlds Champs XC - here is a preview of the course you will have to contend with
  23. nigelhicks
