  1. As for the Build ... I will keep my Fork as SRAM hooked me up PROPERLY at Worlds .... I now have full 2014 internals in my forks (although the paint job is still 2011 ... thats easily rectified) Then they gave me a full X0 DH groupset (excluding cranks) So just a frame and shock will be perfect
  2. Awesome!!! - I'll chat to Jason again Have had Omnico send me a mail today about a GT ... will see what they have to offer too
  3. None actually - no cash prizes (unless i missed the memo)..... I think i'll ask Dellah tomorrow! Does anyone know if the XC guys won Cash????
  4. Right - so after having made up my mind about the Evil .... The lack of "service" in the email dept etc saw me waiting 8 weeks and not having a bike for Worlds .... Then i saw the bike in the flesh and wasnt really blown away. Also a rider said that they go through the bearings in the rocker arms quickly so i would need to ask for a replacement set when the bike gets sent out ... HMMMMM So then i got digging, and the following happened. .... 1. Yeti 303 came up - (ok not carbon ... but still) .... So I was keen but Dave Hogan swiped it in front of my eyes .... good luck as i have subsequently heard that that rail system is a pain to keep working. 2. A Trek Session came up but the dude wanted R80k for the bike ... UMMM NO! I'll buy a new one thanks 3. Last day of Worlds and I hear that Ryan Frerichs has hooked up a Trek Session 9.9 (no fork or back shock (i think) ... for like R22k .... So off i scuttle to the Trek tent as he says there are 2 left ... but alas Trek have packed up and left ..... 4. I then chat to Gabe Fox from Devinci and he says he will hook me up with a Wilson Carbon ... and to send him an email ... (this is done ... so lets see if he replies) ....... So what do you okes think??? 1. Go with the Evil and hope the pivots are ok? and that there are no other issues - service is crap here in SA 2. Get a Trek Session 9.9 from Trek SA (if Tom can source one - but this wont be a special deal) 3. Get a Devinci Wilson Carbon - I would have it sent out with the Devinci Team maybe in April when they come for the World Cup - that way i get the new 2014 model too 4. Get Omnico to hook me up with a new GT Fury????
  5. With regards to Mr Hill and his OTB What you dont see in that camera angle is the Rock Garden that you need to negotiate on that off-camber bank .... Its quite straight forward, but you have a 5foot step off onto a rock or 2 at the exit that is quite flat. As Sam dropped it he either clipped a pedal on a rock on the exit, or his back wheel cased the one largish rock on the landing. In either event it stopped the bikes momentum and pitched his weight forward and that was that. His feet were on the pedals right up until he went OTB. it was just weight distribution that caused the crash (and the fact that the front wheel pitched up a steep bank next to the signage and stalled sending him OTB
  6. maybe its all the mountain air and swiss cheese rather than seawater!
  7. For some stupid reason the Swiss Timing guys and TV forgot to ask me where to place the speed trap for the best (fastest) speeds .... I would have put it before the lip of the First Tabletop. .... but NO .... they go and put it well down in the cross section so that the speeds show 45km/h and not 80km/h .... USELESS Anyway - next year i will get it moved to the tables. Greg and the guys would have been up around 70 - 80km/h coming out of the Gully
  8. is it just my pc ... or does the video just end when they are at the airport??
  9. Actually ..... As he said in a couple of interviews - he tried his DH Bike at Fort William and hated it - he said he would have rather ridden the little bike there too as its what he is used to .... So its not really the track as much as what you are used to .... Ropelato said the same thing

  12. To everyone on here and all those who were there supporting ... I really want to express my appreciation! It was absolutely amazing coming into the finish arena and having the crowd going absolutely mental!!! You cant really describe the feeling. And then ... when i finished to have had a perfect run, and hear the announcer say ... "He's gone fastest!" ... That was a dream come true ... as all i was hoping for was a medal! .... Then to watch as Tom came down having gone down in Cloud 9 .... and suddenly I was guaranteed a 2nd ... and i was like "WTF!! ... im in 2nd!!!" ....... and then the next moment to see the Frenchie (who ended up 2nd overall) with a flat crossing the line .... and I was like ....... SHlT .. I just WON!!!! ..... WOW!!!! So to everyone! Thanks again ..... If you are around over the next couple of days ... Please come and introduce yourselves ..... Cheers Nige
  13. No it was just me railing the corner before early and having FAR too much speed into those rocks ... And thinking ,,,, "F it .... Its worlds! DONT BRAKE!!!" .... and just sending the shlt out of that rock garden and nearly ending my life when i came up short and nosed onto a rock!
  14. there are a couple of guys on little bikes actually Mitch Ropelato (USA) is rocking his 29er Specialized Enduro ... and looking mighty fast on it i might add .... Jared on the SB66 Carbon with 180mm forks Then Stevie Smith and Nick Beer on specially designed 175mm/165mm travel rigs made by devinci and Dave Wegal, So lets see what happens
  15. the bantam - **** looking bakkie - **** looking bike .... not a fan!
  16. Yip that is correct! Keen to have my stripes forever!!! YAY!
  17. just FYI - if you win the World Cup - you get a trophy, that is all - and then you ride with the Number 1 plate the following years first round ... If you win the World Champs (as OM said) you get to wear a sweet rainbow jersey for an entire year!!! Its a big deal. Once off, give it your all, race (both in XC and DH) where you pedal till you puke because 2nd is just the first looser!
  18. :D :D It is SUCH an amazing feeling ...... I am still not able to grasp it! hahahaa I think it will sink in the first time i put the shirt on for a race event! Thanks for all the support guys and girls, it was absolutely amazing.
  19. Definitely the World Cup to define the Worlds Best rider OVERALL .... You need to be consistent on ALL tracks, in ALL conditions and it is no wonder that the Winner of the World Cup Overall is generally ranked as the No 1 Rider in the world. BUT Worlds is a different kettle of fish altogether - it is like Olympics - a once off crack at a title that is exceptionally coveted! You can really hold your head up to say you have won it, even if there was some luck invovled, or the weather conditions changed in your favor etc.
  20. DH track and XC tracks are taped, marked and mattressed! ... ITS ON GUYS!!! See you all tomorrow for Course walk PS - Grebel and Super Mill - I have added some extra sneeky lines for you! hahahahah

  24. a google earth image of the intersection with the 80km/h signs shown about 20m down the road The road after the intersection is an onramp to the freeway so it would not in my mind be deemed as an urban area. anymore
  25. hey guys and girls Hopefully someone on here is wise in the ways of the traffic act and can help me out The cops have installed a static camera at a set of traffic lights as you exit PMB bound for Durban, The camera is a speed camera as well as a jump the robot camera, SO i have just got 2 fines in the post for 2 consecutive days where i was on my way home from work and doing 75 and 77 in a supposed 60km/h zone. The issue is - as you go through the lights ... 20m down the road is an 80km/h sign, and you can see this in the picture that was attached to the fines ... what is the ruling in this regard??? Does anyone know? I have heard that if you can see the sign then they cant nail you. HELP Thanks Nige
