  1. What will a BMC SLC01 Team frame set me back or is the frame alone more than my budget wisecrack2008-06-16 00:38:24
  2. Was maybe contemplating something like this
  3. No I'm feeling much better. Ribs are still killing me ,but hey as long as I can still breath I'm happy. Still undecided on my next bike though. +-30k to spend if the insurance get their act together.
  4. Sorry to break it to you ,but hitting a car side on at almost 50km/h will break any carbon frame no matter which manufacture's super duper carbon is used. I rode this bike for a couple of months and it's one of the stiffest frames I ever rode. Don't know where you came up with that statistic of all Merida frames cracking
  5. This poses an interesting question. I wonder if I would have been worse off if I was on a steel or alloy bike? Seems like the carbon disintegrated with the impact.
  6. New compact frame after my crash
  7. For 2k more I would go for the new Scott speedster S20. Full 105 components and the alloy frame is light and stiff for the price range.
  8. Saddens me to read all these tragic articles kinda makes one depressed RIP
  9. Yes that price is madness, but I guess if you are a sponsored pro rider it's actually cheap
  10. No don't get me wrong I would love to continue to cycle and I find myself constantly changing my mind on the subject. I will give myself a month to make the decision. I would hate to give up something I LOVE so much ,because of the fear of being hit again. One thing I want to do is to thank "Pedal Care" as an insurance company. My cover started on the 1st of June and I had the accident on the 3rd and they have been excellent so far in trying to sort my claim out. So the money is there I must just make up my mind what the way froward will be.
  11. Hi guys just got back from hospital and wanted to thank everyone who sent me well wishes either by posting on this forum, phoning me or sending PM's. It will take at least a month for me to recover and then I will decide if I will continue to cycle. I also wanted to let you guys know that as cyclists you are never safe out on the roads so be extremely careful. The motorist that hit me came from the opposite direction in old Cape road and simply turned in front of me into a side street without any warning. That tells me that she either did not see me at all or underestimated the speed I was doing. I hit her at 45km/h plus from the side as she turned into the side street sending me over the bonnet and into the windscreen. I sustained multiple trauma injuries and amongst the worse is ten badly broken or fractured ribs at the front and back causing one of my lungs to collapse. I am thankful to be alive and now look at things differently in my life. Maybe I wont get back on a bicycle ,but one thing is for certain we are fighting a losing battle against motorists. Once again I thank all of you that prayed for me or held me in your thoughts. I thank the lord that I am alive today.
  12. Hi guys Im alive!!Feels like ive been hit by a truck :-) lying in hospital on my back and being washed and fed like a baby sucks but it has its perks like getting looked after by some hot nurses. Anyways Ta 4 the well wishes. I have ten ribs broken or fractured, cuts bruises and a punctured lung but im doing okay. Bike is in 3 pieces :-( never new hitting a car @ 50km could do so much damage. Anyways time 4 breakfast hospital style chat l8r

  15. Great weather in PE yet again.
  16. Yes allot of money to pay for a 200g weight difference.
  17. Sweet...I want a white and black pair :-)
  18. I hope this weather is not on it's way to PE it's a beautiful day here.
  19. Yes he looks like he will definitely be a sprinter by the looks of his weight
  20. Hey sweet looking baby WB. Looks like our training rides is something of the past at least for awhile hey
  21. I have to ride with my saddle almost all the way to the front as my top tube is rather long and I feel a bit stretched.
  22. Yes in a way I am that way to. Already have a great bike with decent components ,but always find my self wanting to splurge. On the other hand looking at all the bling bits does in some strange way make me want to get on the bike every day.
  23. I have had my Easton Vista SL's now for 2 years. They are amazing wheels for the price IMO. Never once had any problems with spokes or going out of true. Will be a good buy.
  24. Thanks for the explanation and picture Zaskar. I think EC90 SLX3 is my next buy.
  25. This should be an interesting discussion. I'm also in the market for new bars as the reach and drop of my FSA K wing bars is stretching my out on the bike. Also looking for a shallow drop kind of bars with a shorter reach.
