  1. I must admit, watching that last bit after the bell, I was glued to the tv and found myself on the edge of the couch worked up by the excitement of every slippery corner (and the commentator, of course), damn man, road cycling can be exciting after all!!!.....(when its wet hahaha)
  2. Thats the reason I want to do it as well, black crank show scuff marks and chips easy
  3. Thx Quinton, I didnt think about that, will keep in mind
  4. Nope, I told him its a black XT crank and he just said no probs, bring it in, will save me much more in time and money than R120!
  5. Definitely will, thx so much again!
  6. Im stoked, thx to Clement, I got a quote of R120 for the set and the guy told me I can bring it Wednesday and have it back Friday!
  7. Thx! I am trying to avoid a DIY job on it, as I'm almost 100% convinced I'll stuff it up in some way or the other...modern man city slicker inabilities...
  8. How long did you wait to get it back?
  9. I've seen a few of these polished cranks on the Hub and I must say they look pretty darn sweet! I run a 1x10 with a black XT crank and thought my setup will look nice if I could polish this XT crank of mine My questions: 1) Where can I get it done in Cape Town? 2) How much will it cost me? 3) How long does it take to do, (coz I can't go without my bike for longer than a day I'll go crazy) If anyone can help I'd appreciate it much cheers!
  10. +1 for a good bottle of Red. I kid you not when I say I dumped a PnP bag full of medals in the bin when cleaned the cubhourds two weeks ago and the funny part of it all, is I've never ever got a 3rd, or 2nd or 1st place.....ever......... wine please.
  11. My Polar GPS gives me 1480m and Strava gives me 1850m, strava normally way out tho although yesterday felt like 1800 haha!
  12. I'd send them in for warranty claims, that does not seem right for it to break so quickly
  13. X0 wont give you any problems if you only use it in fair weather
  14. Ok, wow quickest response on a submitted query I have ever seen, Welldone "Great Time"! Mistakes happen It appear that at registration they gave me a wrong number, 155 instead of 154, so my result just shows under another name, happy with 18th
  15. Here are the results, but seems to me Great Time timing aren't that great, as myself and a friend' time aren't even up, my time was 3h58mins...Anyway, not to worry, I wont win any prizes anyway with a 17th spot haha Gravel Travel 2014 Results 1.pdf
  16. I might have to aswell, had to feather brake the last 20km on every descend, as there were no sudden stopping power when needed
  17. This race, for me wouldve been the ultimate test on a 1x10 setup, long climbs, fast flats, and I can honestly say, besides one or two short steep climbs where you had to just power it up for a couple of meters, I have not felt lack or need on either end of the spectrum, it just works! And yeah, the conditions did not leave me stranded either as it did two years ago! 32T upfront + 11-36 cassette, and you're sorted
  18. Thx The Search for a great event, and Im so chuffed to see so many entrants daring the conditions, this will keep the GT going for many years to come, the best signage on any race ive ever done and single track to make any junkie happy. First race I did with a 1x10 setup and absolutely loved it, I am so glad I entered this race, see you next year! PS: where can we see the results?
  19. It was tough out there today, but awesome at the same time, to everyone who completed or not, without moaning (its a mountain bike race after all) salute to you, I'll take you to war anyday!
  20. ...now I'm excited....again...SUFFERFEST WHOOHOO!
  21. ...who needs rear derailleurs, we're all on single speeds :-)
  22. Thats what I want to avoid, more costs! I think tomorrow will be the ultimate test for me with the climbs that awaits..
  23. But you are right.. My prediction, the rain is now done and dusted, tonight will clear up nicely and whoever is not at the GT will regret it, as you read of how awesomely great the event and route was, so lube your chains NOW and see you tomorrow
  24. Haha! eish, crazy man! I must admit, I get excited about tough races and crazy climbs, but mud and rain....aikona :-
