  1. Im just glad that they were willing to listen to ideas for bettering the race, in fact when I phoned for the results last year, the lady who answered, eagerly wanted to know what they can do to improve, it has the potential to be a very popular and successful race on the calendar due to its close proximity
  2. Lots of sand, I think close to 30km of sand....just kidding! One or two small patches but majority great flowing sections, a possible chest high water crossing with the only long climb right at the start
  3. Its on our doorstep Copperhead!, Philadelphia turnoff is on the right just pass the Engen garage after the Melkbos turnoff on the N7, (hope it makes sense :-)
  4. This coming saturday the 26th will be the Philadelphia MTB Race' 2nd addition. Last year I remembered alot of mixed emotions around the race, route was cut short by 10kms, the start was chaotic and no one could hear the race brief, and then the finish and timing system used was a total mess... BUT!!! These are birth pains like with any new endeavour and the organisors, overwhelmed with the huge turnout last year, got PPA involved this year, 3 distances, a nice long 63km route and the seeded start and timing sytem will be a welcomed site! The route last year was flipping amazing, awesome farms we dont get to ride generally. I have a feellng its gonna be jam packed and a great day out on the MTB! See you guys there!
  5. Best would be to PM 'The Search' on this forum, he is in the know how of the route and might be the best at answering your question
  6. Im not too sure what "note nought" means...but just get a "litre sized" bottle, available at quite a few bike shops
  7. Think they'll only post it on Solms Delta's website in the week
  8. It sure was something different to what I'm used, and I must admit, quite a load of fun! I flatlined the whole way, but I think my downfall was no group to ride with, but a lekke solo effort nevertheless! I finished 19th in 2h09mins, will definitely do it again next year
  9. Now that we cleared the misunderstanding. I think because 99% of "fun rides" in and around Cape Town consists of three distances, usually 5-15km short, 20-45km medium and 50-65km long, its kind of an expectation of a long route to be 50-65km. In fact two years ago the Breederivier was at 55km, and you expect to be out on the bike 3-4hours on the long routes, you get what I'm saying, suffering for your money's worth! The climbs were good, single track was good maybe a spread over all areas of the route to get to atleast 55km, and yeah 1500m ascend wont hurt either!
  10. It was indeed as you say Mads, the person I referred to was in age group 30-39 and started in H, just didnt feel like an argument on Good friday!
