  6. too many variables boet ,both trips same dude ,different bikes!
  7. why don't you let the same dude do the same trip with both bikes? then measure heart rate and calories burnt ...........to be sure day one you start with road bike then get on mtb and do same trip, day two turn the cycle around while measuring both trips on heart rate and calories .......the fact that i answered this very disturbing!!>>>>>>>>>
  8. Whiskers Is this like a "Friday thread thing".....................................just asking cause theres soooomuch strange strings doing the rounds ...you know !!!??@?
  9. Ghost, my boy ,just a conformation on what most other have said so far . I agree that clipless is not on ,I recently had to refit flat clipless pedals to my training bike on the IDT cause the Misses also wants to spin every now and then just to stay in shape ,I therefore spin in the evenings with these pedals ,and I work much harder pedaling with these babies!!!! I can only do about 45 mins hard spining now with tekkies on, as aposed to a easy hour with clip-on shoes! My 2c

  11. after whatching Trevor Noah's "Day Walker" ,I must tell you that the whole Castor thing will alwys bring smiles to my face ....it is plain brilliant ............... " He is a woemann that one !!! :D
  12. In addittion , the weight , be it muscle or fat ,still needs to be carried over those darn hills !!!! My opinion based on listening to most members ,is that net weight must drop in order to survive the Hills ............. If its just about loosing cm's well thats a differnt discussion !!
  13. Morning All I have been tracking my fitnes levels for the Argus by using the Fittrack website ,but I am not sure the indicators are accurate. I have opted for a 3h30 time ,and according to the tracker I am still on target . mmmmmmmmmmm not so sure with al those bloody hills !!! what is you experience using this programme or something simmilar?
  14. Speaking of fittrack who else is using the program to monitor Fitness levels building up toArgus? My tracker show's I am on track for a 3h30 +- ...........mmmmm not so sure with all those hilss!!@#$%$#

  18. Hi Andre Yes ,in die wildtuin ! I suspect it;s not quite 1.5km but close ,and hopefully I'll be able to do more then 6 repeats in two weeks time !!! Dit is donders seer daai laaste repeat !!!!
  19. tx Marco will do ,by the way, were you in the "wildtuin " yesterday" ?
  20. mmmm , there is a lot of merit in the statement above !!!! Tried this yesterday ,and felt better all the way up the Hill ,now to change bike set up as close as poosible to this "upright position" Scotty says I must buy a Hybrid......... any other pearls of wisdom ?
  21. Gents Some observations from yesterdays Hill repeats : There is a clear improvement in my time up that hill with the 11/28 : did 4 repeats 1.5km 7% at avg of 20% improvement on time. Legs not burning that badly only had to stand up on the first bend where the gradient goes 9%!! Heartbeat maxed out at 194 BPM which is way lower then 210BPM of last week on the 11/24 ratio. (194BPM=108% of Maxheartrate). Then I made an effort to sit up straight, to emulate the MTB set up ,I Sh*T you not it felt more comfortable !!! (how do you change the bike setup on a roadbike to have more of an upright body position i.e. MTB)
  22. My question earlier this week regarding ratio's on cassettes is due to my legs not being able to experience the "spin" on my curent 11/ 24 cassette , I have installed a 11/28 and will be doing the same 1.5km 7% uphill as I normally do , will give feedback tommorow. Did the same uphill on Monday with my MTB and got up the hill faster and not nearly as winded as with the road bike . Lets see how todays "spining" goes
  23. Amen ! That's going to hurt in the morning !!! Just remember ....CHICKS dig scars !!
