  1. That is exactly what is bothering me. I eat 3 normal meals per day. Have one or 2 alcoholic drinks over the weekend and train twice per day....... But stil....
  2. Don’t know what is going on. I’ve trained an average of 12h per week for the past 3 weeks. Only lost 400g in total. I’m on 82.9 kg
  3. R.I.P Carla.
  4. Dammmmmm, That's sexy!!
  5. I love it. Especially the back support and small side wheels. They will come in so handy when you fall asleep on those ‘multiday’ or 24hour rides....
  6. Dammmmmm. Dis flippen mooi. Baie geluk.
  7. Thanks a million. Just what I needed this morning. Dam I was down after getting on my scale this morning. If I had money left at this stage of Jan I would have sent you a biltong and chocolate basket....
  8. 83.0 Can’t understand... Did 11 hours of IM training last week?
  9. My opinion is that we are judging this from the wrong side. We take the kind of riding one does and then add character or attitude, we should take character and attitude and then add the kind of riding. When you look at people who love nature and the outdoor you will also see 2 tipes of outdoor characteristics and attitudes, those who camp and those who stay in chalets. Those who go to civilized Kruger National Park and those who go to Moremi. When roadies take their bikes for a service they drop it of at Cycle lab and after 30min of instructions on what they want done on it, they walk around the corner and have lunch at a restourant where they drink windhoek light or Amstel from a long curved glas. M.T.B.’ers Take their bikes to their nearest bike shop (on the back of their muddy bakkies that also serves for a place of sleep over) ask them to check the tires and the oil, then they pull out a case of zammaleck, a gas braai and 4 meters of wors. I work with a lot of different personalities, from the dreamers to the analytical, all perfect in their own way. I am sure that after meeting a stranger for 1 hour, you will be able to put him on the right bike and in certain cases even the brand....... In every walk of life you get people who likes to take things more seriously and more focused and those who like to be more laidback. So I say. The bike does not make the man. The man already is..... And the he buys a bike.
  10. I also drive a Colt Club. I use my indoor trainer as a base to keep my bike stable, and then strap around the seat post to each side of my bakkie to make sure it doesn’t tip when taking a corner.
  11. Always 2 a day, except on the days I do my long run or cycle. Jip, after a hard day I try to take it easy the following day. A rest day is 24hs (once a week). This means that if my last training session ended at 2pm, I start training again the following day after 2pm otherwise some rest days turn into 36hs and then they become to long. I also try to swim on rest days, still get the training but my legs get to rest.
  12. Wel done! What is your next adventure?
  13. Okay, got it. I will Definitely give **** shifter a try. Thanks.
  14. CRC?
  15. Claylike soil you are revering to.... Here it is known as ‘aap-***’ and that is exactly what it is. I love to ride wet, but here your wheels turn into 16’’ slicks that refuse to turn or grip.
  16. Thanx. This helps a lot!
  17. Monday morning weigh in: 83.3kg.
  18. Hi. Saturday bike wash, and I ran out of my branded and over expensive soap specially formulated on the highest peak of ‘Mont Black’ by Mongolian monks and sold to me as the only, and make sure you understand only soap, lubricant or degreaser that you may ever use on your bike. Any other chemical will cause your bike to “slaan blokke’ 10km before the finish of your first sub 3 Argus. No disrespect to any shop owner of whom I know there are many on the blog, but is it true that you can not use any other cleaners on your bike. I understand that some kinds of greases used on motorcycles’ chains will change into grinding paste on your bike and that the de-railers are very sensitive to certain pastes, but will using oven ZEB on my chain do any harm to it. Can anybody give some advice on what can and can’t be used and maybe some normal household cleaners that works for you. I’m not that long a member so this issue may have been discussed before.

  21. Hy, wait for me.... 1.73 83.5 kg Target = 73 total loss of 10.5 kg Am I to late to join?
  22. Thanks guys, this helps a lot. I must say, I never doubted myself, but you gave me that extra assurance and motivation. GTRacing, good luck with your training.
  23. Dit was F@kk&n snaaks. Nou amper koffie oor my rekenaar gemors.
  24. First some background: I manage to get a sponsor for the 2011 IronMan. Not that I am the kind of athlete that deserve a sponsor, it was more ’n bit of luck and my wife’s job that did the trick for me. I was well on par with my training, with the odd week or two of laziness in between, but I’m not a pro, so with a demanding job and a pregnant wife that is understandable. Then suddenly my sponsor went all quiet on me and I knew that without a sponsor my dream of doing the IM for the first time was, for a second time in shatters. The first time, I had to withdraw 4 weeks prior due to a knee injury that took me more than a year to recover from. Our baby is due in May and with my wife’s 4 months UN-paid maternity leave it is just not possible to budget for the IM and everything that goes with it. I don’t need to tell anyone on the Hub how devastating it is to your training program and even your daily ‘lets-stay-fit’ training when you feel it’s all for nothing. So I went out and had a party. Not just any party, I mean a party of note. A party that lasted from the 17th of November up until the 1st of Jan. If there was anything I could do that would harm my body and my fitness levels I did it in doubles. That kind of party! NOW. This is the deal........ My sponsor did not desert me after all... Received a mail today to confirm payment. Yes, my big party weakened my hart and it almost attack me, but after 20 cups of pure caffeine and Goosebumps on places I never knew I gad gooses, I finally grasped the challenge. IM 2011 here I come. I know you have to take a lot into account like amount of base training, previous distances done, and all of that, but what do you hubbers think? Is it doable in 3 months and 5 days after a total layoff of almost 2 months. If so I need advice and lots of it. Please help.
