  1. Tracy-lee Palframan Yesterday near Cape Town To all my friends, me and Robyn Satchel Menzies were mugged at gun point today while hiking up Slangkop Mountain in Kommetjie. We both had our cell phones stolen with our bags so we have both lost numbers and are only contactable by landline. Please be aware if you intend to go hiking and don't take your wallet with all your cards and ID in it like I did! 2 Shares=702465463&p[1]=10154359978480464&profile_id=702465463&share_source_type=unknown&__av=100001216163088"]Share 3 people like this. 4 of 55 View previous comments Tracy-lee Palframan Emma Eldridge, I too have lived overseas and I have been contemplating going to live in the States or Canada for a while now, this is just the push I needed to get me going. This is also the second time this has happened, but the first happened at my office and the gunman was aiming at all of us and not just me personally, this time was very personall.... 40 minutes ago Emma Eldridge I know how awful is is Tracy-lee Palframan Unfortunately we too have had armed home invasions and other various issues in our workplace, and in the car. 6. Almost sure I can hear the riders heart beating at the very end of the clip as he stops. Really good clip
  7. What trail took you up there?
  8. I can throw in another R1000.00
  9. And you are the president of which cycling governing body???????
  10. Iโ€™m no cycling guru, in actual fact only really started messing around on a bike about 2 years ago. However I was very aware of Mr Armstrong and always thought he was an all time great. In actual fact I still do. I do to also appreciate the work that governing body's put into the sport they are involved in. But when these people go to such an extreme to strip an athlete of his achievements it makes me wonder. One word comes to mind bull***t. Were they not the authority governing the sport in the first place? They too should be stripped of their authority. I hate it when people point fingers like this. Are they not man enough to admit that the error was thereโ€™s more than his? Yes he was not supposed to take performance enhancing substances, and I feel sorry for the guys who were not and lost to him. But he was at the time a professional sports man; it was his job to win. You can bet your bottom dollar that he was forced to do so because the governing bodies were to busy hob knobbing about and living the good life while he was training his butt off. In actual fact Iโ€™ll bet they were having a good old time socializing with the whoโ€™s who in the cycling world, while he was doing his job professionally. And sacrificing a large portion of his life to promote their sport. So I hope for Mr Armstrong the authorities stop floating around playing GOD and start doing the jobs they are paid to do properly. And if the fools donโ€™t know what I mean howโ€™s about starting by putting the amount of effort and time into the sport that the athletes themselves do. And donโ€™t bring the money up because I recon there were a good couple of them earning a lot more than the champ was earning in 1998. Just my 2 cents worth
  11. AAAAH classic. That would have spooked the living **** out of me. Gonna head back there and talk to the locals, but I aint going in that forest anywere near sunset unless there is a whole bunch of riders. If those wild horses had have come any were near me I would have been damaged for life. You guys were lucky you got to see what they were or your friends would have admitted the both of you to some form of medical institution, a while back.
  12. Was in your town the last 2 days and only got to ride yesterday evening. Ended up at Reehnendal(think that's how you spell it), homdini reserve???? Thought it was an 8 km ride, FAIL. By the time i got to that last bit of single track it was pitch dark, and the forest monster's, whom were trying to get there filthy goblin like claws on me at every bend. Must have diverted a river down the track a couple days before. HAH they thought it would slow me down, rode most of the track on my front wheel, like a circus clown, bouncing in and out of rut after rut with them breathing down my neck. Fu.......ers never got me though. When I hit the gravel road again they couldn't see me for the dust. Then to top it all, besides the fact that it was now beyond pitch dark, I could swear I spotted the lost Knysna elephant. But as I turned my head to get a better look I road smack bang into a reserve gate. Well at that moment I new I was heading in the right direction, so I decided not to ask the ellie were a cool spot to chill out for the night would be, and road the rest of the dirt road freaking about the next gate that you cant realy see in the dark. So where were you all heading after work? A good couple of you were riding on the mountain side of the N2 heading towards the bridge. Came across 4 of you riding the road towards Reehnendal, but the rest just vanished. Did some of you hit the dirt or do you all just ride the road home?
  13. So what did you decide on doing to better your training? I am the same age and do about the same amount of training a week, I always run out of steam at about the 30 km mark and hack the rest of the way. After reading all the posts I presume I should do some tempo training, and a long ride once a week (50 Km).
  14. http://app.strava.com/rides/13426715 Route I rode. http://www.maniccycles.co.za/pics/BastilleMTBLongProfile.jpg 40 km route Cant even remember if we were directed, think I just followed the bunch. Ended up riding up the road to the farm house with all the pillars. Instead of going left towards the dam. Lesson learnt dont just follow the bunch, they were all 40km riders, but the front riders obviously took a wrong turn. I can actualy remeber thinking something was wrong once I had got to the top and started decending with out seing the dam. And the ascent also came when I was just starting to take it easy thinking I had a couple of kay's to recover before the big climb. And then boom it was in my face, bugger. There was also a bit of confusion at the end of the track after the pillar house, that must have been when the front riders realised something was wrong. No wonder I did so well. Thought the three months of relaxing I did before the race had paid off
  15. Strava also showed 32km, route may have been shortened due to weather conditions.

  18. Hi Do you guy's supply spare lenses, broke my one this evening trying to land a barrel role over rock type flip, in the dark. Didnt quite land it, and the light must have hit a rock. Still worked though, thank goodness or I may have still been on my way home. Need a price on a water bottle/ spare battery, and are the specials still available?
  19. Evening Do I need to buy a new one or can I get a new lense cut at a glass shop?
  20. Ok So the kenda is to wide for the rims. May be I will try a different brand of tyre, I want more grip on corners, cause i keep on slowing down to much. And was hoping the wider tyre would help boost my confidence.
