I had a Peugeot Mirage racing bike in school, as far as I remember back then it was a reasonably decent brand, cost R120.00 and that was in the late 70's. I was the only guy at school with quick release wheels and had to check they hadn't been loosened every day after school. I think it was a 5 speed casette back then. Bear in mind my old man got his first company car in 1976 and that cost R2800.00 brand new!!

I prefer doing that on my Scott 29'er - Big ring at the front and small gear at the back all the way

What colour socks are best? Is that one sock or a pair the OP should be looking at?

Gloves is a problem, high speed through a dip and I couldn't change gears afte rthat - Bought some skiing gloves

166cm - My medium Scott is too big for her - Not quite sure wha tshe is worried about damaging on the top tube

R7K is stretching it already.....

If I give her the choice between an "ugly" looking bike with XTR and a pink Makro bike I know which she will choose

Found my fiance a nice used bike with good spec from an honest friend - Guess what? She says it looks ugly and doesn't care about the spec (typical). She likes the look of these 2. Which is the better buy?
