  1. AT the moment there are 2 options, one from cyclebuzz, and the other from buycyle!! any other suggestions??
  2. Hi guys, after a long time researching, i decided to build my own bike.. Im looking for 10 speed Sram components, new/unused please!! already have a crankset. also, new sid xx fork or similar, and lightweight 29er wheels.. please pm any info, or leave a post.. suggest shops, persons etc..thanks a lot, this is going to be my dream machine... appreciate any input
  3. only considered it because everyone suggested it...
  4. 1.9m and 65kg should not be allowed in the same sentence :-) hahaha!! cant afford assos, bought 3 giordanas for the price of one assos, so that was my deciding factor, would have loved the assos though
  5. I got a few pairs of giordana shorts, love them, carbon seat, so had to invest in the bum-protection too!! After all the inputs, I must say I'm leaning very heavily towards 29er HT, I'm 21, weight 74/75kg's, and a lot of the replies were about age and weoght...
  6. Nope, then it was someone else hey!!
  7. a guy passed me on a ss rigid, wearing cargo pant, but he wasnt off, he killed it!! was that you??
  8. ChickenRun4me, talk about "ruk die dam onder die eend se...." Have you worked out the amount of entries that the race receives, R35400 x 600 riders= CRAZY money.... and thats only half of the expenses!!
  10. im Training on 26HT for about 7 months, and will train on it until end February by then i will have to make the decision on a bike at the latest!! we already put up our names for bike servicing :-)
  11. No idea hey, I'm just training hard, and want to race it, don't have numbers in my head, too many variables on a race like that!! Would the position I'm aiming for make a difference in the bike I should buy? And if so, please explain, thanks a lot!!
  12. excellent reply, thanks!! i know its just another race, but 16400m climbing on the toughest terrain, i just want to do it yes, but still want to buy the right bike!! thanks for the input
  13. Dammit- just sold my 50% ownership in an oil company, so there goes my sub 10kg DS(haha) !! I think ill get more bike from my budget with a HT, or then again maybe 2nd hand DS?? Or is that 2 risky??
  14. Would LOVE a spez bike- but its about twice what I'm willing to pay unfortunately, that's also a big reason why a good HT is more my choice!! Would probably get a really nice HT for the price of an "okay" DS..
  15. But the attekwas is ONE day, what about the 7 other days on the epic..that's the part where I'm not sure on HT or DS
  16. all good eddy, my partner (PPT) did the attekwas on DS last year and he is doing it on a HT in 2012, maybe ask him what his thoughts are, i know the attekwas is a monster..
  17. Nee nee, my partner maak my meer deurmekaar as die mense op TheHub......what a man
  18. bought a 10.3 kg DS 29er last week, on theHub, the ad stated full xx..got the bike, there was XT and XO components- Epic Fail, so sent the bike back and got my money that same night... so i am leaning towards DS, but to get a light DS 29er is very expensive compared to HT....thats if you buy new
  19. lucky for me if never really done much Dual-suspension riding, always return to my 26 HT after a while on the DS...
  20. Can i maybe talk 2 ur boet please?? would like to hear the details etc if possible??thanks
  21. hi guys, i'm STILL looking for a 29er for the epic, asked 100's of questions and read everything possible on the topic. Hopefully for some new/fresh insight after the pioneer could help... Im doing the epic next year, going 29er-no doubt, but cant decide on HT or DS for the race..many guys say after 6 days on HT your body is finished and the DS would be a lot better etc etc...but i want to RACE it, and the other side of the groups say the DS would be heavier/sluggish compared to the HT(sub 10kg HT)... Need all the input of guys that has done many miles on 29er HT and DS, maybe a few okes that has done stage races of them please.. inbox/pm/post email..any feedback will be great thanks.. really sorry for another 29er topic.. i know alot of people are tired of it, my bad
  22. +1 Agree, can't afford all the original stuff after servicing your bike, on an allowance of R2000 or so.. Let's do the " REPLICAS"
  23. Its also laws that's state you should stop DEAD at every stop sign, look 10million times and then drive, also 60km/h zones/ 80kmp/h etc.. Don't know of ANYONE who obey those laws to the letter?? That's also against the law..
  24. For sure, just get in a good bunch early on and you can do it!! I did a 115km road race in 3:02 witb conti race kings on, so alost did the sub 3 thing witk nobbie wheels..so think with slicks you'll be fine!! Don't know about the fastest time though. Good luck.. The argus is not tough at all, no real climbs etc so you are going to pedal harder to stay with the roadies on a "flat" race!!
  25. i just posted my RM XO for sale-dont stress...it really is mine-haha!!!good luck with it...hope you find it somehow
