  1. Apologies, some figures would have probably helped in the original post😅 Wheelbase length should be 1263mm according to the website.
  2. With the distributors I think the general idea is you are not really supposed to. Idea is to take it back to where you bought it. The store should then sort it out with CCS. That way CCS knows they actually supplied the product in the first place. Imagine having to handle a warranty claim for a product that you never distributed in the first place (and so we got the geo locked distributor monopoly which is a whole other topic for another day😅). All of this is just conjecture on my part. Happy to to be corrected if I am wrong😁
  3. Awesome, thanks for the feedback. Yeah I kind of made my peace that I will be paying some overweight fees😅
  4. The bikebox thing very cool! Had no idea something like that existed. Very well priced too. If only it had wheels...😅 Some feedback from @Titan Racing Bikes regarding fitting an XL size enduro bike would be much appreciated 🙏
  5. Hi everyone Sorry for ressurecting an old thread. Does anyone have any experience fitting XL size frames in the Titan Bikeport bag? I am in need of a bag and for the money the Titan bag seems to be a no brainer😁 Just need to make sure my bike (XL pyga Hyrax) will fit. Halfway to the weekend😁
  6. Do you mean that local companies should create components (brake and drivetrain) that are compatible with Shimano/SRAM? Csixx does that (Well chainnrings for starters at least). Problem IMHO is ultimately that the cost to develop and machine parts here. Labour + electricity (When we have it🙈) is a lot more expensive here than in the east. Add to the fact that the market here is quite small, it probably means that the R&D cost will have to be recovered over a far smaller number of components than big companies i.e. local stuff will be more expensive because the R1m (just an example) spent to develop the design has to be made back in (for example) 1000 sold components as opposed to a company like SRAM that will make (for example) 100 000 as they have a global market. And then most people will still rather buy the SRAM or Shimano version😔 Seems like we are stuck between a rock and hard place here in SA when it comes to components.
  7. What are you riding mostly? Marathon, XCO, Enduro, Trail or something else? Don't really want to go shredding gnarly rock gardens at break neck speed on some Maxxis Aspens. They don't seem to last too long then😅
  8. But you do have a small chance to spot the occasional Yeti😝
  9. Rode them in December. Some nice relaxing flowy trails. No real red/gnarly enduro stuff that I can recall though. Still a good bit of fun though. I will definitely ride it again. MTO trails at Cairnbrogie are great too👍
  10. So you can boost all the jumps of course😝 In all seriousness though, as @robbybzgo put it, it is the newest standard for hub sizes and axles. That means that you will be able to find upgrades and parts for this standard easier and for a longer time from now than the older standards. Take it from someone who has paid the expensive school fees from not doing that from the start🙈
  11. Definitely agree with @Brawler on the choice of an aggressive hardtail. Unless you plan on becoming an XC racing snake, you will find the geometry to be a bit more comfortable on an aggressive hardtail (big trail) compared to an XC hardtail (like the big nine). Also nice to know that your bike is capable to hit some bigger features if you wanted to. I rode a Mercer hardcore hardtail for around a year and a half and it rocked! Plus you get some bragging rights over the rest of the guys on full sus bikes😝. Whatever you choose my best advice to you would just be to pick a frame that has boost 148mm rear spacing with a 12mm through axle as well as 110mm boost fork spacing (15mm through axles).
  12. The tigre frame is a steel frame. AFAIK the rear spacing is set to something like 145mm. From there you basically just cold set the chainstays to what you need. That way you only need one frame size. Steel is pretty great in that regard. It doesn't weaken from bending like aluminium. That is why they make coil springs from steel mostly (unless you are very rich and can afford titanium😋).
  13. Of course the local labour makes it more expensive, that is to be expected. My point was just that for the average joe looking to buy a first new enduro bike they may now be too pricey. I do think they are going for the more "boutique" reputation though so nothing necessarily wrong with that. I agree that e-bikes seem to be the new thing for a lot of guys now though. Definitely apparent when you look at what the big bike shops like cycle lab are stocking (I have not seen a proper "non-e" trail bike on their website for a while now). But really interesting to hear your opinion. As a more trail/enduro oriented rider myself (no e-bikes or beers though😜) it is really easy to forget how small the community really still is. Always really cool to hear other perspectives, appreciate it!
  14. It is the lower leg lubricant I am looking for. Just wanted to make sure I use the right stuff when doing a lower service. I believe the dampers use 3wt now. For the damper service I will have someone a bit more experienced do the service though😅
  15. Thanks Quite excited to see how it rides this weekend😁 Maybe I am stingy but I find a simple lower service is simple enough to do yourself. The damper rebuild on the other hand... I prefer to have someone knowledgeable do that.
  16. Definitely makes sense that most of the mountain bike business in SA is in the XCM/Stage racing scene. If I were TR racing I would most probably do the same. From a business standpoint I completely get focusing your efforts on the bikes that will make you money. I really was just pondering along on the question of "what makes a premium brand". There has definitely been some growth in the enduro scene... Look at places like Wolwespruit now paying for someone from the Trails crew (The guys that helped build the Darkfest stuff for those who don't know) to keep building more flow lines and big jumps. Places like Hellsend are fairly new. All of this is providing people with options to start trying a previously "underground" discipline much more easily and often find that they need something more than a normal XC bike if they want to progress. I agree that Pyga do have a big market portion historically but it does seem that lately they are getting a little "boutique" with their prices. At R80k for a carbon frame, you could get something from almost any other premium brand as well. It seems like TREK have taken a lot of market share lately. I reckon that is simply because their bikes are a lot cheaper (And have good support too). Are they better? Probably not... However the amount of TREK bikes around makes me think that the average NEW rider wants a bike they can see in the shop, grab and buy right there, and that is where I think a company like TR could fill a gap. At least that has been my observation in the last few months. I ride a Pyga myself and I absolutely love it, but if I needed to buy a new bike now... Probably would end up going with something else. But these are probably just the ramblings of someone who likes bikes too much😅
  17. Perhaps a manufacturer's range of bikes also changes our perception of whether they are a premuim brand? Brands like Vitus and Merida build a much larger range of mountain bikes that include trail en enduro bikes. From what I can see TR only really focuses on XC with their MTBs. If only TR would start building some trail and enduro bikes... I bet they would make a lot of SA gravity riders' wallets very happy and probably bolster their reputation as well😁
  18. Much appreciated! I am in up in Gauteng. I was just unsure about where to find some as I couldn't find any in our local online shops. I will ask the LBS when service time comes!
  19. Guess I will try to revive an old thread😅 This may be a stupid question but does anyone know where one could buy the new Maxima PLUSH Dynamic Suspension Lube Light oil? I just treated myself to a new 2023 Lyrik and would just like to be prepared when service time comes😅 I am not sure if the new charger 3 dampers would actually require it or if another alternative like 5w30 could still be used. Thanks for your help
  20. Good to know those frames are solid. I was considering getting one for a build but ended up going another way. Good looking bike that! Still waiting to see a build with a black frame though. That new black flow line sure is a lot of fun!
  21. Has anyone done some serious trial riding (big jumps, drops etc.) on one of these? Very curious how they hold up to some hard riding.
  22. Thank you very much, sounds about right????
  23. I actually am currently speaking to Dave as well. Waiting for some geometry info from him as well. Just looks like it is going to be a bit out of my budget. The Cotic is actually a stretch already hence the forum post???? Those Mercer bikes are absolutely stunning though!
  24. Hi Guys. Just looking for some opinions. I am looking to build up a 29er hardcore hardtail for some bike park and enduro duties. I am currently torn between the Rapide Tigre frame and the Cotic BFeMAX. BFeMAX is only available in August though and do cost quite a bit more. The geometry does look a bit nicer on the BFeMAX though. Has anyone maybe built up a hardcore trail bike with the Tigre frame that can provide some feedback on the frame when ridden hard (Big jumps and drops). I always try to support local where I can but I don't want to end up regretting not getting something nicer in a couple of months. Would really appreciate any feedback.
