  1. looks like I'm winning so far with my 92 or should that be
  2. 6 foot dead in my surgical stockings, 92kg... body fat % too bloody high, (a little over 20%) .... went over the top of Suikerbosrand on Sunday popping rivets all over the place..
  3. The last 3 posts illustrate the 'hidden' damage that these dopers cause to cycling. Dissension in the ranks, uncertainty and disagreement as to the actual winner of the event. And this is among people who clearly love the sport, so imagine the non-fans and critics! The 2007 TdeF (and many of prior years) is forever tainted. Who would want his name forever linked to that? I also agree that even though Pereiro has been declared the winner, who really feels that he won? We all saw Landis take the glory on the podium, I'll bet Pereiro doesn;t feel like he really won it either. I'd like to see an interview with him to hear how he views it. Sickening isn't it? Thank heavens there are so many honourable, dedicated and enthusiastic cyclists out there to ensure the sport survives.
  4. and who knew the Hub had an additional feature... the dating service... Any chance you could give Megan McKenzie MY number?
  5. this is true Just collected my race pack for the R 4 Victoryand seen the profile, think I'll withdraw
  6. sheesh guys, going straight for the jugular here? Admittedly it was a bizarre post though!
  7. I also agree with the time in the saddle theory. Otherwise what happens is that the speed training gets your cardio fitness up quite quickly, but Looong before the end of the race you will have no leg strength left and the stamina is not there. Longer rides also train your body to be more efficient. I speak from experience. Having said all that, if you really don;t have time for longer rides, shorter harder ones are better than nothing. I cannot remember where I read it but someone said that shorter rides, done regularly and consistently are way better than Lance Armstrong's programme, done inconsistently and in fits and starts.
  8. In my club ride yesterday was chatting with a lady who;s boyfriend is on a program with Gary (Mark??) Beneke here in JHB. Apparently he does the lot, Max HR; LT etc. etc. and then gives you a tailored programme specific to take you to your racing/riding goals. Not sure what the $$$ is.... perhaps someone on the Hub has used him?
  9. Hit 204 once thought i was going to die there and then don't race with my monitor on call it a mental thingy Sean love your avatar I hit that max crossing the finish line at last Hyper to Hyper (or Fast One whatever it's called now), on the long drag to the line.. must admit when I looked down I nearly had a heart atack! Re the Avatar, it's not a joke!
  10. Makes sense. I will bite the bullet (again ) and go buy a spare wheel and tyre, and cluster of course. Thanks Velo.
  11. On a similar subject. Hendrik Potgieter has become suicide alley in the afternoons so have got myself an indoor trainer for during the week training. . My boet tells me I should get a different set of wheels (ok, just back wheel obviously) for use on the trainer, and save the usual wheels for the road. Do you agree? Never used the indoor trainer before so not sure about the type of wear and tear?
  12. here we go! Before I doscovered the Hub I used to be bored on Friday afternoons.
  13. By Jove I think you have it! BTW, thats exactly the reason I drive a BMW! (oops, is this gonna start a whole new row? )
  14. so can we expect your 94.7 time to improve by 30 mins now? Seriously though, very sorry to hear about your retrenchment. Have also been through that after 9/11 and all the tech stocks crashed. Was a convenient excuse for my then company. All I can say is that while it sucked at the time, it was genuinely the best thing that could have happened! I was able to take advantage of opportunities that I would have had to let pass before.... All the best!
  15. Work, the curse of the drinking (or is that riding) classes....
  16. So it isn;t just me thanks for the hilarious responses.... I love this place!
  17. Or do the rest of you also get very little work done after discovering the HUB? Joined up 2 weeks ago, took a week to pluck up the courage to actually say something, and now my productivity had gone for a ball of .... Like I said, is it just me?

Not sure I understand the problem, in any 100km+ race I have blown by 70km anyway , an extra 11km of misery is no biggie for me!
  19. Don;t think I haven't contemplated that I made the mistake of mentioning the idea to my wife (she was all for it actually. can't imagine why )
  20. To lose that much weight I'd have to have a testicle removed. Hey, maybe the saddle would be more comfortable after that too!
  21. I think beer is a pre-requisite for darts, to help you keep your balance. But then watch out for DSA!
