  3. Morning Hubbers! Since I now live in Malawi and will be in Pretoria for a week soon, I want to get both of my MTB's serviced, no major issue except both forks need a service as they are on about 1000km each. Because of the time scale I would prefer a shop who can do the work in house rather than sending them off to the importer or agent. (oh and I want to have at least one bike avaliable to ride for most of the time I am there ;-) Anyone got a tip? cheers Iain
  4. 99kg after 2 weeks of Germany and hardly any exercise (I did do a fast (ish) 25km road group ride this morning before weigh in though)
  5. 97kg.... Moved to Lilongwe for just over 2 weeks ago now and have too much work so I can' t ride much and am drinking too much :-( anyway off to Germany on friday for a few weeks... will ride alot there..... :-)
  6. finally progress again - 97kg this morning. Maybe I should ride a MTB race every sunday.....
  7. ask a different insurance co. mine were insured and I didn't ever produce import papers because there weren't any for the ones from UK. I was with outsurance, my MTBs were insured through my 4x4 insurance co. (very cost effective)
  8. too short for my weight of 98kg..... or is that to heavy for my height of 1.82? but I am down from 110 October last year
  9. 98kg still.......
  10. 98kg still.......
  11. certainly helped me with climbing.... but not with cardio fitness, for that you would need one of the others. I also found spinning helped as if you do it as hard as possible its a great workout in a short time.
  12. was reading the Epic guide which came with one of the cycling mags this morning, quite depressing to see that the pro' MTBers are under 75kg with my height, some less than 70kg.
  13. 98 again.... did plenty of Km's this week, but ate even more.
  14. I definitely wouldn't want to go for shorter than 175 on my single speeds either..
  15. umm not sure you wont notice, I had a 175 crank and changed to a 172.5 because the chop where I bought a compact crank gave it to me and I didn't notice till later and I had problems during my ride with knee pain. stoped and put the seat up a few mm or so knee pain magically goes away (and this was before I knew that I had a different crank length...) As for the ride, I think I spin better, and I didn't notice a lack of leverage......
  16. My employer has decided to put a Bike rack outside the office and inside a guarded compound for 5 bikes, so that those of us who would like to cycle to work have one less excuse (showers already present...!) but I am at a loss, where to buy one, and what design is best... Tips please Hubbers!!!
  17. won't I have to pay VAT/DUTY?
  18. Hi all, I need a new Bike computer and was dreaming about going for a GPS, but thought it was out of reach finacialy........ but the Bryton rider 30 GPS (see www.iplaygps.com) is going for ZAR2599... Just don't want to be stuck with an expensive but not functional piece of electronics.... Has anyone actually bought one? Initial comments...? I know Tread have a brief first impression, any more experience would be appreciated. Cheers

    23c VS 25c

just bought my second set of 28c Gator skins from conti... (from solomons this time) very happy, have not had a single puncture in 2 years of road riding - probably about 2000km and there is still plenty of life left in the original tyres, just buying more so I have them when I need them. Of course there is a weight penalty, but the comfort is more important as I can safely run them at 50-60psi (until recently I also weighed over 100kg)
  20. early weigh in..... traveling to DAR today... 98kg
  21. not voluntarily... My gluten free meal was not gluten free on SA63 yesterday...
  22. 99kg.... cant recommend the method used to get there..... been sick for the last 24 hours.
  23. of course if I rode it the white bits wouldn't stay that way long... always seem to get a redish brown tinge after riding in the mud round here... but it still looks very nice indead
  24. well its just because he hasn't got a real 4x4... LOL If he had he would have been driving off road and it wouldn't have been an issue. But serriously, I was riding along that road a few months ago (not as fast) and a BMW almost RAMED me, then swerved round me with mm to spare, no idea why there was plenty of room to pass as had been demonstrated by several trucks. I think some people should just be pitied because they are a couple of beers short of a six pack. We won't change them, and the worst thing we can do is get agressive (although this is what I find myself more often than not doing) especially here in africa where it seems to me people are less bothered about the potential consequence of their actions (i.e. the death of a cyclist) Sorry as a 4x4 (Landy) driver that one of the clan could do that to you! even if he is probably one of the drivers who object when I cruise in my 4x4 at 100-110 on the high way and R roads.
  25. or I could try to break 5 hours on the 29r' peace actually... I was thinking of using my trek road bike.. although I think its not even 2kg less than the GF29r' LOL
