  1. This new crop of 650B+ bikes are pure porn and I feel dirty just looking at them
  2. I have had pretty good results with the Rock Razor on the back and I do believe this would tick all your requirements
  3. I know this has been posted before but man I'm itching to pull the trigger on one of these. Sooo pretty and not to mention the build spec on the "1 Build" leaves nothing to the imagination FAP FAP FAP..................... Edit Image size
  4. Looks like you guys had a ball. One day, one day when I'm big.......................................
  5. antonj Okay looking at the picture you posted it would seem that you don't have Avid brakes as those are the only ones using that conical washer system. Loosen both bolts that hold the calliper down. Tighten only one side, should it move while tightening it is not the end of the world. Now shift the calliper either to the left or right to get it centred at the end where it is still loose. Once centred tighten down. Now it shouldn't move due to being held in place by the other side that is holding it down. Should you now notice that the end you first tightened down needs to be moved just leave the opposite side bolted down, undo the side that needs attention and shift as needed. With this back and forwards between the two bolts you should be able to get that sucker bolted down, slap bang in the middle. Hopefully you can make out what i tried to explain. Well this is what I do when I encounter a stubborn caliper that just won't centre and so far it has worked for me.
  6. Check and see if you have a washers between the bolt head and brake calliper? In the picture the little conical washer has a small plain flat washer on top and this is the one I'm referring too.
  7. I think my bank balance just cringed http://www.pinkbike.com/news/canyon-strive-cf-2015-first-look.html
  8. Argh how I miss those dj sessions The Ollie is a bit overbuilt for long periods in the saddle pedaling but if you're the type of rider that only pedals/push to the top to enjoy the downs go ahead as this bike will put a smile on your face. Let us know how you get along and post picks of your build
  9. Easy fix if you would like to steer clear of QR. Female axle system. I have been running this same hub on my BFE and the back end is as stiff as a priest at a kindergarden http://www.chainreac...14/rp-prod87927
  10. Well if I may shed some light on the Meta AM I have now spent some time on a Meta AM 2 (about 1600km ridden) and below is some of my findings THIS BIKE STRAIGHTS UP ROCK! Sorry on a serious note After reading some reviews I decided to go for the AM 2 as on the 3 there is an issue with the rear shock that isn't valved right and has issues blowing though its mid travel but apparently this can be fixed. The original headset is shocking and is a cheap Cane "Creek" variant that got notchy super quick. The Fox 32 fork was well just meh and didn't inspire any confidence when pointed down. The original tyres are cheap single ply OEM variants and I removed them before even riding the bike. The rest of the spec on the bike I was pleasantly surprised with and in retrospect never should have removed the Formula brakes. This bike climbs like a goat and with the rear shock setup right you hardly notice any pedal bob when pointed upwards. It rails turns like no bike I have ever had and this bike will reward you the more you lean it over. Sending it down a hill makes me question why I ever bought a bike with 200mm travel as this bikes 160mm travel feels limitless and soaks up the big hits. Hope this helps a bit and let me know if you have any other questions
  11. Superstar AM Carbon wheelset rebuild with white spokes and Sapin red nipples Oh some new rubber for my lady too. Fat Albert on the front and Hans Dampf for the rear
  12. Will do I'm flying out tonight to the UK and I'm feeling like a little kid the day before Christmas as I know they are all waiting for me at the destination
  13. Looking good but now you know you will have to change your signature on the hub. Bwahahahahahahaha!
  14. Looking good so far, well done Really want to see this all built up. What your plans for the build?
  15. I tried riding with a 740mm bar but must be honest and say that there is just something (even though I can't put my finger on it) about running that bit of extra width Thanks and yes I have been putting some monies away for said purchase as I did "ruk die hoender so bietjie" with this buying spree
  16. I fully agree
  17. Ooh now you opened up a can of worms. Would have liked to get a matching bar stem combo but ended getting the RF bar due to it being 785mm wide compared to the Renthal 740mm
  18. So finally pulled the trigger on some upgrades for the Meta AM Superstar Carbon AM wheelset (stealth graphics) Pike RCT3 160mm Renthal Duo stem 40mm Race Face Six Carbon Riser Bar
  19. Or he could just go moto on it and stick a 26 inch wheel in the rear
  20. But, but having the BB so high enables him to lift the front wheel with ease
  21. Soos my oom altyd gese het "Goedkoop koop is duur koop"
  22. Running a long seatpost in this frame would look all wack. At some stage I had a similiar dj bike setup also with the seat dropped and ss. If your legs are strong enough to stand and pedal this bike will reward you with a smile from ear to ear. Damn how I mis those little "Fanta" rides along the spruit now. Good times
  23. I beg you to not do this injustice to yourself. The Superstar hoses are shite. I bought some of their red hoses and can honestly say that I would have received more joy out of flushing the money down the loo. It was an utter ball ache to install as the hose is super brittle. If anybody wants them for free I would be more than willing to bring them down to SA on my next trip but note you have been warned
  24. Have a look on the Merlin site (http://www.merlincycles.com/) you can pickup the f&r Hope Tech 3 V4 Disc Brakes with braided housing for under 250 Pound including shipping
  25. Well now we know why your Hope brakes didn't work. You tried to fix them with "bloudraad" I would kindly suggest that the next time you have issues with your brakes maybe take them to your LBS
