  1. The new stock on syncros stems are supposed to be arriving in SA this year. The older stems wont be able to accommodate the new look. Go to a bike shop and ask them to order you one.
  2. Truly sad that guys and girls will go to these lengths to be 'the best' get cocky and think they will never get caught. Now that he has been caught out, he will never be able to return, even with a 6 month ban - he could only hack it because he hacked the hardware/software. Surely if you are able to win a UCI esport event you should be able to compete upfront with the elites in an actual race?
  3. Sorry to jump right in here... and it may have been said already I too am going to miss the massive 60% discounts on all the policies. From what I have been told is that the big companies (Momentum, Discovery, FNB, + more) that offer these discounts and benefits for being a member (discounted flights, vouchers and really incredible benefits) have been forced to change there structures as it is unfair for them to offer these benefits when the smaller companies cannot. As much as it sucks it looks like most of these benefit schemes are going to be changing to fall in line with the new rules.
  4. Yep got those ones. Thanks
  5. So I should stick to MTB
  6. The same guys that put on the Trailseeker events put on the 947 mtb ride (AP photographed all of those events and included in the race entry fee was the entire photo pack) there is obviously a fee paid to AP from the organisers for being there and capturing etc. The stupid branded RAF activation was going to be in the photos anyway so why are only those photos paid for at the expense of the sponsor. Especially considering the amount of entrants in a typical mtb race (600 - 700 at the 50km 947 race) vs the estimated 18000 entrants of the 947 race. That is a huge difference - I received 16 photos in my photo pack for free and now I get 4. To get the digital photos from AP is going to cost R80 a pop on top of the R700 spent for the entry. Apologies for the rant. It was my 1st road race so really wanted to keep them for the memory bank.
  7. Awesome thanks DD. Will do so.
  8. At the ride Joburg mtb race we were given our entire photo pack for free. Seems really strange they would change that entirely for the road race.
  9. Regarding the photos, are we only being given the pics from the RAF activation? We then have to buy the rest of the pics from Actionphoto?
  10. This was my first 947 and first road race - nervous as all heck especially starting in a strong batch but it was fantastic - I managed to get involved with a great group all the way through to Kyalami - an awesome guy $ - 52 (you are a legend) helping us all out, letting us all take his wheel and giving us encouragement. Snapped my chain up the main road climb to Lonehill and luckily got it fixed at the Monte waterpoint mechanics. Climbed back on and managed to get to the finish. It was an awesome ride, the vibe on the road was great. The climbs all the way to the bridge destroyed the legs but it was incredible to be able to ride these often unridable roads.
  11. The mtb race was incredible - a lot of drama at the start with the delays due to lightning but once it got under way it was a lot of fun. The mud in some places was tough to get through, they actually closed off a lot of the single track (especially close to the river) we rode a lot of cart paths but it was all good fun. W.r.t the road race - is there an additional charge to ride an extra lap?
  12. Spoke to them today, seeding will go out on the Monday of race week. I thought I had mistakenly deleted it after getting the road seeding lol
  13. Will be my first 947 and first road race, hoping for a good time (+/- 3 hours) and no falls! I've heard the vibe is amazing and it's a good time. Very excited for this one!
  14. I am not a KOM killer but it does frustrate me that certain E-bike riders refuse to log there rides as E-bike rides both on and off the trails. Just Flag the entire ride - give a minor description of why you suspect the ride infringes the guidelines and they will remove all of the segments from the ride. (As far as I know this can only be done on a PC/Laptop) There were also a few segments at Northern Farms where the KOM's where earned by Enduro motorcyclists haha how tf that happens!!! How strava doesn't automatically pick that up is beyond me. Elite level mtber's pushing 30km/h up a climb but the guy with the KOM managed nearly 70km/h has a boep and endless photos of him and his motorfiets.
  15. It would be a terrible way to get the record but they would have to strip Flückiger of any and all wins this season. Again only if the B sample comes back positive. You could also argue that if the positive tests had come through sooner, Flückiger would not have been in the Lenzerheide race causing the crash with Nino and he inevitably would have won that race too.
  16. Those reviews on both users tells you everything you need to know.
  17. As much as i'd love the RC, I don't have the bucks for that but I got myself the basic 970 2022 model and have slowly improved the spec on it over the 5 months i've owned it. I too have had the "e-bike" chirp as well as the "is that a hard tail?" I love the handling and responsiveness of the bike, the twin-loc really helps you put the power down on the climbs. I haven't had any issues with shocks or the dropper. Really glad I got one, one day i'll get a carbon model.
  18. I've been using the Holdfast premium sport tilt bike rack and haven't had any issues. I only have the 2 bike version but they do make a 3 bike option if that is what you need. Been really impressed with the functionality.
  19. You can add additional sensors. Power meters, cadence sensors but I don't think it's necessary. I had some issues with my laptops bluetooth so I opted for the ant+ which then also allowed me to connect an old ant+ HRM. The trainer itself picks up cadence and power (how accurate it is I am not sure) it seems pretty accurate to me. Just calibrate it every now and then, it's not a long process. Just pop on a trainer tyre. You can use a tablet, your phone or laptop. The apps are downloadable on all devices. The Tacx flow adds resistance based on elevation of the route I think it's up to a max of 6 or 7% gradients but you do feel it haha
  20. I was in a similar boat to you. I managed to pick up a TacX Flow for R2500. They do come up every now and then at that price. My mates and I are currently using the Wahoo RGT app which is free but you can also enter events and ride some alternative routes to the 2 free routes. Zwift is definitely a more social app but depends on whether you are willing to pay. I think the Tacx flow is the cheapest smart trainer around if budget is the issue and the RGT app is pretty great, you can do workouts and ftp tests etc.

Haven't experienced any issues with the mounting bolt *yet* haha I am probably 300km in on the new drive train. As for the wear on the cassette - the guy in the shop explained I wasn't using the full range of the cassette, of the available 12 speeds I was using 5 of the higher gears. He said this was where cassettes wear quicker (true or not, I have no idea perhaps someone can enlighten us all) so he recommended I get a bigger chain ring so I could utilise a larger range of the cassette and thus wear it down evenly.

Recently did the upgrade to full GX lunar. I haven't had an issue as mentioned above. Hopefully those issues were as per the previous GX. I was also told to put a 34t chainring on to not use the higher gears as much as I was, to prolong the casettes lifespan.
  23. Keen to see what you encountered Rosemary is a bit of a drive so would have to make sure the conditions are good (sound like a sissy I know) but the bike and I need some time to recover.
  24. Is there a 'don't ride here after the rain' forum topic? P.s: thanks for the heads up re. Rosemary hill. So many people have recommended it but will make sure not to ride it after the rain.
