  1. I bought my full sus (albeit aluminium) 2 years ago. Scott Spark the new shape with the rear shock inside the frame. I love the bike but if I could do it over again I would have saved a little more and bought the Titan of the same year. So much value for money in comparison. The Titan brand has been around for quite a long time now and from what I've seen and heard, they make great bikes. Good warranty and they look pretty good. It doesn't really help but I think you cant go wrong with any of the bikes on your list. If it came down to bang for your buck, component spec would make the decision easier.
  2. I have the Holdfast 2 Bike tilting rack -https://holdfast.co.za/product/platform-sports-tilt I have had 1 issue with it after 3 years, they replaced the entire rack for me. I will need to upgrade this when the kids get older and would only look at Thule or Holdfast. As mentioned above, it will depend on your budget, vehicle and number of bicycles you need to transport.
  3. Thanks Droo.. I found this and from what I can see. It isn't possible to upgrade the airspring. 2022-rockshox-spare-parts-catalog.pdf
  4. Sorry to bring it up again - you mentioned in a previous post the 32mm stanchion Sid's could not be upgraded to 120mm travel. Is this just a manufacturing standard on these forks or because you cannot purchase the air spring? I have found a Fork - it is a SID Ultimate - looks like a 2020 model - 32mm stanchion. On the trailhead app when I put in the serial number there are no upgrade kits for the fork. Online it does appear that 120mm airsprings can be purchased? https://thebikehub.com/products/rockshox-sid-debonair-spring-shaft-120mm-29-32mm-stanchion-air-shaft-bumpers-h942554-02 - for example. I am happy to import if need be. I have reached out to Cogent in PTA but they are not answering.
  5. I am all for the new innovations and we saw it being used in World cups last year - you would think with all that testing they would know the flaws on design, I am sure they have done there homework properly. Any hopes that this new tech will bring down pricing for 'older' eagle products? Or will they just throw it right in at R30k+ over the current AXS XX1 🙄 My frame would probably take the newly designed derailleur but my bank balance couldn't 😂 Really like the design on the cranks!!
  6. Mens standings. *Edit* Ladies was incorrect.
  7. Solid ride from Candice and Amy - putting some good time on Ninety-One Spez. Great riding in the mens too - unfortunate for Beers and Blevins. They will pick it up, it is still early days. So far it has been fantastic racing!
  8. Very excited for the Epic, a great line up of teams in the mens field. Will be interesting to see how they progress and who has the legs and the least mechanicals (RIP Ninos tyres). Keen to see Nibali on a mtb and some pro's from the tour. Would be amazing if they could pull VDP, Pidcock and van Aert. Good luck to the guys participating.
  9. I specified my bike on my home contents with Momnetum - claimed once and had zero issues.
  10. Really keen on the Race to the Sun (pushing well passed my longest ride ever haha) and will do both Ride Joburg MTB and Road again. Would really like to start doing stage races too but looking like a 2024 goal.
  11. Thanks - I would prefer a more recent 100mm model (2020 and up)not sure if that causes further complications. I will have a look on the RS website and see if they have some more info. Correct, it is for a Spark. Thanks for the insight with the 2 different versions - however when you say aftermarket fork - do you mean modified Rockshox? If I was to buy a Rockshox SID (100mm/120mm) that was previously fitted to a Spark, would that still have an issue in the mid position?
  12. Hi all, I have tried searching the net for help on this and haven't found anything. I have heard it is possible from a friend but need something more conclusive. Here is the question: I know with all suspension forks you can add spacers to reduce the travel of the fork but is it possible to add travel to a fork? The reason: Specifically a Rockshox fork (I need it to work with my lockouts) I want to upgrade my fork from an entry level 130mm Judy to a Reba or SID. You can get much better deals on 100mm forks than the 120mm that I want. So would like to possibly convert a 100mm fork to a 120mm. Thanks in advance 🤙
  13. Interesting 😂 I don't have any experience with Microshift - but I have heard good things - see if you can find any drawbacks on the drivetrain online. It's a 9 speed so that will have it's own drawbacks either on the top end or on the climbs (depending on where you choose to ride). All in all as a weekend trail bike it should do the job well. Well done for stretching the budget 😄
  14. It's a good price but that looks like a 2x setup to me. The parts are all serviceable on the bike, CL not stocking the brand shouldn't really be an issue unless you have a warranty problem - might need to ask them what happens in that case. If you can play with your budget why not consider a 2nd hand hard tail that is already setup 1x and might have better components - there are some nice looking bikes R12k to R20k
  15. Asidale, I've been enjoying my visits here. Some really good hills on the route.
  16. The new stock on syncros stems are supposed to be arriving in SA this year. The older stems wont be able to accommodate the new look. Go to a bike shop and ask them to order you one.
  17. Truly sad that guys and girls will go to these lengths to be 'the best' get cocky and think they will never get caught. Now that he has been caught out, he will never be able to return, even with a 6 month ban - he could only hack it because he hacked the hardware/software. Surely if you are able to win a UCI esport event you should be able to compete upfront with the elites in an actual race?
  18. Sorry to jump right in here... and it may have been said already I too am going to miss the massive 60% discounts on all the policies. From what I have been told is that the big companies (Momentum, Discovery, FNB, + more) that offer these discounts and benefits for being a member (discounted flights, vouchers and really incredible benefits) have been forced to change there structures as it is unfair for them to offer these benefits when the smaller companies cannot. As much as it sucks it looks like most of these benefit schemes are going to be changing to fall in line with the new rules.
  19. The same guys that put on the Trailseeker events put on the 947 mtb ride (AP photographed all of those events and included in the race entry fee was the entire photo pack) there is obviously a fee paid to AP from the organisers for being there and capturing etc. The stupid branded RAF activation was going to be in the photos anyway so why are only those photos paid for at the expense of the sponsor. Especially considering the amount of entrants in a typical mtb race (600 - 700 at the 50km 947 race) vs the estimated 18000 entrants of the 947 race. That is a huge difference - I received 16 photos in my photo pack for free and now I get 4. To get the digital photos from AP is going to cost R80 a pop on top of the R700 spent for the entry. Apologies for the rant. It was my 1st road race so really wanted to keep them for the memory bank.
  20. At the ride Joburg mtb race we were given our entire photo pack for free. Seems really strange they would change that entirely for the road race.
  21. Regarding the photos, are we only being given the pics from the RAF activation? We then have to buy the rest of the pics from Actionphoto?
