  3. brilliant, glad to see these being done.
  4. rather refreshing look at the pack mentality. http://youtu.be/GMCkuqL9IcM http://youtu.be/1KTEgLKhjIw
  5. totally different to the biopace rings (which i too rode back then). A few reviews can be found here and here) have been riding them for about 1000 km's and whilst you don't necessarily notice the design, my usual leg-killing climbs/rides don't seem to have the same fatigue effect as before. the pedal motion, for me and i guess this is a key point to make here, works well and i enjoy being able to spin at 115+ now without the same lumpyish feel whilst on the record cranks. it's true, they are very popular here in the uk. they work with any crank setup, even your compacts, without the need to buy the rotor cranks (which are very nice!) no, im not employed by them, just enjoy their products

  10. who said an older steel frame doesn't work well with newer gruppos? http://prollyisnotprobably.com/2011/06/13/IMG_8290.jpg
  11. Before I leave these sunny shores for good, I fancy doing the meander. Anyone ridden the nottingham road before? is it worth doing or are there other hidden road routes in that area?
  12. will be picking this up in london later on today, still not 100% sure what I want to do with it but just caught my eye http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5064/5703674215_20341293be_z.jpg
  13. It's not the best feeling. After countless phone calls, it does seem that once the bag was entered onto the system at ORT, that was the last time it was seen. Now it's pretty obvious what the contents are, so i'm sure some charming person decided to nationalise me from the bag and here's hoping he becomes another statistic shortly. Now we play games with the insurance company
  14. Some greedy african **** will steal at the slightest opportunity. Bike bag was checked-in at ORT, onward to Munich and the bag never made it to the plane. it is now awol and nowhere to be found in SA. Shock horror!! one missing eddy merckx and tommasini.
  15. I'm chilled but seriously being an average adult weight does not make one fat guy asked for advice and that comment was out of order. period.
  16. I'm 93, 6.1" and will still give the 10 year old boys (a.k.a men who just haven't gone past puberty yet, who the **** are you to call someone 84 kilos fat @velo???) a good run for their money up the hills. yes if you have a pubescent body, you will fly up hills but that automatically doesn't mean every skinny man is a climber. Start by training on hills as everyone here has mentioned. Don't grind the crap out of them, spin bitch spin. aim for as high a cadence as you can. the attitude on this forum sucks sometimes.
  17. I'll be heading to the UK with my bike bag and was wondering who you all recommend as the best insurance company to offer sporting goods insurance on the bike bag. I've seen someone mention Indwe, so will call them in the morning but since the hub is a damn useful source of info, i thought i'd ask here as well. looking for about 40k worth of cover for a single trip. thanks
  18. Dunno, Umhlanga is pretty central for me considering it's my home area. I do, however, agree with you that picking up the paper one day and not on the race day is a bit backwards.
  19. "His point is actually totally feasable, well definitly on MTB's since roadies dont dirty their bikes in the first place " because south african roads are like velvet slippers right? my road bike needs a clean every week, mainly due to around 500 km's of shite making love to the frame. Diesel seems to be the flavour of the week
  20. make that +1 as well, depending on dates etc.

Out of interest, any brands here offer more chamois than others? I've found the local stuff to be a bit sparing
  23. Having spent a massive chunk of my life in S.E Asia and China, I can attest that most factories do offer run-offs. If it looks like a European one, smells like a European one, in most cases it is. On the quality aspect, it all depends if it's a second/failed QA or just as I mentioned above: a run-off from a big run. Great quality if you don't fancy spending an extra 2k (euro) on some paint and stickers for the same thing in most cases.
