  1. Thanks for the warning - i believe R Crowe was v touchy about his dodgy accent in the film. Also steer clear of Nine - i fell asleep in that, even though there was loads of decent women in it..... well nine anyway (the clue was in the name).
  2. That's tough B&G getting bullied for no reason and nothing you can do about it. I hate getting harrassed by motorists. One time in Bedfordview early on a Saturday these 2 birds pulled in close and started chatting me up at the lights. Geez wat am I? A sexual object, what gives them the right to invade my space with their lewd propositions? Especially when I was concentratin on where my average cadence was at. AND it produces erroneouos heart-rate readings when people are speculatin as to what's under your lycra. So i'm with you 100% - we need to start a support group.
  3. My most dangerous ride is the Friday commute to work in Wadeville, anyone can see its dangerous but its what I want to do. I reckon I'm going to get knocked off my bike and/or robbed 2 or 3 times in my life max (i'd prolly stop after that). I've been riding in Jo'Burg 6yrs now and had neither - that's 2,200 days where nothing happened. Why should I live my life everyday worrying about these things? Surely i'd be a bit of a loser to be penned in by these fears & it gives the scum a victory each time I change my lifestyle because of them.
  4. Militarac / Kamikaze - shouldnt this thread be in the classifieds? You're clearly punting a product and dressing it up as a discussion. Btw, for the record, am very happy for anyone to spray any would-be attacker with anything they find handy. Vomit is a cheap, effective and eco-friendly alternative. Oh, I got some Liquid Bullet somewhere and, not bein so bright, tried "a tiny, tiny spray" in the bedroom, to see if it still worked. Apparently this was grounds for divorce. 5. 4th time for me, going up with Scotty and Water Bottle. Hoping to pace myself right and not look like a bag of poo coming up the hill on the 3rd stage finish.
  6. The site's been down all day for ticket sales. But if you sit and hit refresh every 15 secs for the next 14 hours you could get lucky and score one of the 200 tickets for the final they were going to sell today.
  7. Great pic of mini-Gummis Guy on the right looks like he?s taking instructions, guy on the left is too young to care. Nice one
  8. As said earlier the warranty is voided if you open the watches but not other units and not the CS series where the unit mounts on the bike, not a sweating arm. i had an F6 & the display froze so i took the back off & poked it a bit til it workd. Some time later i got condensation undr the glass so took it to polar. They saw the seal was disturbd & said it was the cause of condensation. But they gave me a new unit anyway. That was pretty good. They also said to use the courier service that operates btw them and the lbs's. Secure and no charge as long as you've got an lbs that likes you. So i like polar - hope thats not too controversial. can see its tough if you're outside gauteng tho'
  9. Gleeful ogling is nice work if you can get it.....and get away with it. Oh, and greetings from sunny Beira.
  10. In the case of the Landmines thread, someone else's dog
  11. Results are up
  12. I'm on 32 bit win7, just changed from xp. I had to run all the updates from 2004 and change to 16 bit colour and it runs fine now having had the problems you describe. Check out the forums on the Tacx site there's huge amounts on this. Oh yeah I had to follow a link from there to get drivers that would work too. Bit cumbersome but well worth it now.
  13. Can't fight you on this one BigH* Edit - some time later this afternoon When BigH speaks it's often worth havin a think about, which is what I've done and come up with a little list of pacifists in violent countries. Vexatious isnt it? Buddha then Jesus said turn the other cheek but how the hell do you do that in real life and what's the point (as BigH says)? And yes, i'm still glad the kid shot the robbers dead. Well, not quite glad, but very ok with it. (*that's a little joke - can't fight/pacifism? oh well, never mind)Joe Low2010-05-23 11:58:00
  14. This seems to come around a lot. You might try doin a search for CRC if you havent already and see what other threads say whilst waitin for replies on this one.
  15. Thanks folks I really appreciate the support I've had here, by pm, sms & in person since Friday. Cheers Holy, that was very nice what you said. I would've thought by now the robbers were coming to your place and leaving things for you? Didnt they take the floor tiles last time?
  16. Calm down Mr G. I've taken a lot of abuse today over a fairly simple opinion expressed very calmly, that I dont like a lot of crime threads on the Hub and I dont want to see dead bodies with blood. Especially when its not cycling related. Frail's leg was bad enough. You have plenty of support for your view and lots of guys calling me lots of names - so you win, if you like. Why carry on? 17. Ok, look it's been a blast but I've got to go, like I said earlier and as I've been encouraged to. DR I've made it my business to meet and get to know dozens of Hubbers over the years; but right now an investment opportunity has hit my inbox that I have to address
  18. I was surprised, it came out a couple of weeks back - between 470 and 580 a year for the past 5yrs according to the stats. I didnt know whether to be pleased that they were getting this many or worried that there were that many to get and more. For those who are hard of reading - I said before that I agree with shooting them; its the revelling in it that I think makes us less as people. Thanks for the good words Slave & Bobs and BigS Joe Low2010-05-21 06:28:31
  19. So the tactics in dealing with a dissenting view are to swear and threaten violence; followed up by patronising the hell out of the individual? Look, it's fine, and more than worthwhile to get this glimpse of human nature. I try to maintain an oprimistic disposition which may be keeping me youthful, but a youthful 45 with 3 kids.
  20. ...and then load them under the Funny pics Thanks B&G, that was good of you. - nah, leave them - there's no support for my view & its just causing unhappiness so I'll shut up and push off til next time. Thing is, the police are shooting criminals dead at the rate of 10 a week, so this is not news. You can "have your day made" every day with this sort of thing if its what makes you happy. And I agree with it, if you go to commit crime with a gun, its fine by me that you get shot dead.
  21. Sure, everyone hates the violence and pressure of living here. I just dont want to see anybody's bloody body on a cycling forum and the endless threads bemoaning the situation. Its a sunny Friday and the weekend's here, Bela Bela race tomorrow, going to the Bulls in Soweto in the afternoon. There's much better things to be thinking about. & yes to whoever said it I probably would wet my pants and cry like a baby if I was hijacked. I dont think its something I'd have control over though I'd do my best, especially if I had to protect wife and/or kids and/or others.
