  1. I just want to say that I have been very good and not contributed to this thread in any way.
  2. That's v funny, thanks for sharing the private moment. Were you standing up to pedal or did the back section just give way?
  3. Hi Buffy - I got one of these new for Xmas. The centre arm is a funny design but it does work and doesnt lock. The whole thing depends on the wheels being tightly secured. Extra bungee is fine. "A lot of movement" is not normal.
  4. Very happy with what you and your team do. Today riding in biggish bunches at the back the control seemed to be there but they werent obtrusive v good - tnx.
  5. Doesnt sound too bad to me and they followed up personally by the boss-guy which was good. I had more trouble with my order to Evans Cycles & I'd still use them again. I think it just happens in the normal run of business.
  6. Don't mind me - today's pills havent kicked in yet. & it's either pmt and/or i'm anxious about us losing Fernando Torres on transfer deadline day.
  7. Most 100kg guys are finding it hard to get a team, manager or contract to break along with their frames. And, of course they will be lighter if they are not wearing helmets, but then someone else will be telling them off. What is it with this place that everyone wants to tell everyone else what to do?
  8. Self-appointed rulegivers are a dark spot on the happy heart of the individual. Jesus had no time for them & neither do I. Am also going to change my signature in honour of this enlightened post*. (*By which i mean "one that i agree with")
  9. There you go - in addition to there being no penalties for it, it is actually unenforceable as it is prejudicial to the majority of cyclists. i.e. the burden of compelling all cyclists to wear helmets is unjust - they can't afford them, therefore the law does not have force. So why are you shouting at people over non-existent laws? Seems there must be better things to do.
  10. Looks like OP and Mrs OP were taken as parading their superiority rather than havin Barehead-Man's best interests at heart. The really offensive follow-up comments seem to back this up. A guy out on his bike by himself is prolly there to avoid being nagged at home - he certainly doesnt want it on the road from a stranger. You dont have to wear a helmet in this country and you don't have to tell everyone else what to do. Guess what? They dont like it.
  11. Very happy with the licencin process this year & Raeleen at CSA is a star. Sure nobody likes taxes but at our club members just pay (same as last yr)R75 to CSA and R75 to CGC, finish and Klaar. It's worked out fairly painless.
  12. In all the years of all your posts I've seen a lot, laughed, cried and chewed the keyboard. But a good idea? Where you sit back and say "now, why didnt i think of that?". Never thought I'd see the day. would take my hat off to you if i had one. & the Mrs has got a laminator (we were lookin at doin homemade, snug-fitting condoms but it never worked out).
  13. Get yourself checked out, it could very well be something significant. I got into a v bad way 18 months back with crushing headaches & fatigue. Turned out it was due to statins i was taking for cholesterol.
  14. Change your priorities or have changing priorities or, better still, dont have priorities at all. Your mindset dictates whats possible and it looks like you've painted yourself into a corner. Possibly.
  15. Two pages and no-one has mentioned the L-word? Nobody admires him? "Once you stop winning you're forgotten" someone said earlier on this thread. Seems to have happened pretty damn quick for LA. Personally I'd go with Eddie Merx Mercs Murcks, the Belgian fella - cuz he was the only name I heard in racing when I was a kid.
  16. 21 hrs a week must be close to professional levels. Most riders dont need to do that "to be fit enough". If its making you sick, then its too much. & remember - death is nature's way of telling you to slow down.
  17. +1...... & losing weight is easier by eating less than by exercisin. I've been 104kgs(& more) & was in no state to exercise properly, let alone compete in anything. It's putting the cart before the horse imo. Everything works so much better once you're 5-10kgs lighter.
  18. Why? You're not paying anything for the service. You need to make sure you cover yourself, it's no-one else's responsibility.
  19. If the hi-jacker thought there was the slightest chance of that, there would be no hi-jacking. For evil to prosper just takes good men to do nothing. Thats how we are.......... mostly
  20. Sure I remember you (didnt register that you'd been gone, sori) what club do you ride with again?
  21. Why is this such a big issue for you and why do you frame the question in emotional terms? I saw before that you said you took this issue up with a stranger on the road and got the finger from her - what's the big problem that it needs airing here? Its obvios that kids should be transported safely & its the law; its also obvios that people are imperfect and make errors of judgement. Doesnt say anything about love.
  22. +1 That's really too bad; very sorry to be hearing this.

    Shingles

Real bummer getting it over the holidays. You taking annual or sick leave for this? Good spread of experience and advice from other Hubbers.
  24. It's said we judge others by their actions and ourselves by our intentions.
  25. It's easier on Fridays. In Malawi it was white robes & characteristic hats. & the overtly devout fellas have a small dark patch on their foreheads from (for want of a better phrase) carpet burns.
