  1. Judge Judy sez: Snip got lucky & prolly not deliberately so. Edge lost out by not being meticulous. Cant see there being any recourse after a six week delay in reporting a problem. & to those who say take it private.... !@##@@????????????? THIS IS THE HUB, THIS IS OUR LIFEBLOOD - THIS IS WHAT WE DO!!!!! (BigH-morph off)
  2. The Macsteel riders and their guests - a lot in Change A Life kit were put in CL after the original Race no.s were issued.
  3. Bonking in the cycling sense is usually when you've ridden long and hard and completely depleted your glycogen stores. In British terms bonking is having sex. So if you see me on the bike having a smoke you know that i'm training after bonking. You've ridden whilst sick & came undone. In terms of coming back after being sick, you should listen to your bod & build up slowly. If you are competitive (& 99% of us are, with varying levels of justification) this will prove to be virtually impossible and things will take time with a couple of setbacks with you training too hard too soon. Basically - suck it and see.
  4. Macsteel Carnival City on Sunday, we were going to rename it "The Wet One" a couple of years back cuz it was; but still manageable compared to the off-roaders.
  5. Enjoy your Swiss weekend, maybe things are thawing out a bit up there - Grass, flowers, slush; or still lots of snow?
  6. I don't think they play to the Argus G-ZZ bunch-riding rules; didnt see him holding out his bottle to show the others before taking a drink either
  7. Pniel is Ukranian for "Superlegs" & hey Swiss, you backed another nube that let you down.
  8. Ooops sori I was a bit hasty - You're only talking about off-topic ads, not chat topics. So, yeah, not an unreasonable observation. Nope was right the 1st time - ur buying an i-phone on the Hub whilst complaining about non-cycling classifieds? Eejit
  9. At less than 2 posts per month for 18 months you're not contributing enough so that your opinion has any weight. Get involved and set the agenda, not "boo-hoo, they wont talk about what i want".
  10. Thanks for telling us, very honest & shows how wrong and damaging our assumptions can be.
  11. Not sure, but whilst we wait for a fundi, I can tell you that: Food you eat standing up only has 50% of the normal calories, as does; Stuff you didnt order in a restaurant that shows up on your plate; and Food you eat off other people's plates, 75% less calories if its your kids' leftovers. Food you eat in the dark has no calories, the cinema counts as dark.
  12. Yup, yesterday's news is tomorrow's fishwrap (or something). Let's hope for good things along the coastal stages & that no-one puts live ammunition in the starting gun I've no doubt after this that CSA will re-think for the future & try to improve.
  13. I believe CSA wanted road closure on the short circuit but werent allowed it, they went ahead anyway. There's no saving the situation, once that call was made. The 'showcasing' of Jo'Burg / Sandton is a big motivation - it's a good idea, good for spectators, good for the sponsor. I'm told CellC put up USD70,000. It's probably hard to convince them that the race should end in a (safe) mielie field somewhere.
  14. +100. & if we are assholes (which we're not) it didnt happen last week, it's been that way for a while - so the organizing and planning has to take account of it.
  15. I got going at age 38 a few yrs back. It doesnt take long before you fit right in. My advice? Find a route or two that you love and/or a couple of friends you love to do it with.
  16. The criticism is pretty reasonable imo. Of course there's a bit of letting off steam with the disappointment of the thing, but a lot of very simple objective things have been said here. CSA took on the job & made a complete mess of it.
  17. Maybe CSA should bring in outside help. Isnt that guy from ASA looking for a job? Somebody Cheune? Could help with organizing, PR and general image. Also useful for those transgender issues.
  18. +1 very little evidence at the scene of the crime. I drove the route from Soweto Highway to the finish - nada, absolutely nothing. Except one arm warmer, from the guy dropped 4mins by the peloton who took on the township traffic without any escort, shredded and blood-stained
  19. Not referring to me thank goodness. This seems rude and defensive. I may have missed what connection you have to the event but it was very badly publicised and organised. I'm a club secretary & a call for help went out 10 days ago about organising spectator points and contributing whatever other assistance we could. There is no way that a club can do much given such short notice. However, I e-mailed all our members and we were there at Monte today - we were there, but the event wasnt. I heard about the tour maybe three weeks ago and 1st thought it must be a heads-up for July or September or somesuch. I was gobsmacked to read more carefully on the next missive that it was 2-3wks away. Absolutely impossible to put an international event on in such a short timeframe & quite rightly CSA is a laughing stock. Poor, poor, poorer than poor from the organizers, no-one else and certainly not the clubs. & rolling closure on a 20-25km circuit the riders were going to do 3 times - how on earth did anyone think that could work? One or two splits in the bunch and you're stuffed.

You have a special interest in these perhaps?
  21. Be careful not to loose your price money.
  22. But that's professionally trained police, who have got to answer to more than "a hunch"; and it's still helluva controversial, mostly on race grounds but wider civil liberties too.
  23. O and Mr slowpoke ............ Ms
  24. If you think you've got grounds and are brave enough then get involved. Sounds like the odds would be in your favour on this one being stolen, but be prepared to be wrong and/or battered if your approach isnt so subtle. You can trace the owner through the race no.?
  25. Had a good morning out in V(I)P. We got caught by C at the top of the steps & so had to have the obligatory crash, maybe there was more than 1. It happens every year - huge bunches, the road narrows, we're going 50kmh+. After that everything was cool, including the weather, little wind & by the time there's some serios effort needed we'd done 50kms.
