the aspect 35 2010 is better spec'd than the 2011 aspect 30 i was going to get the aspect 30 but a 2010 aspect 35 is much better value

i paid R4300 for a 2010 with 70km on..

the hope hub sounds that much better than the xt..and looks orgasmic..go for the hope

i dono how you ppl go through chains so fast..on my last bike i had the deore chain casette and chainrings for 3 years and it never ever slipped nor skipped and i ride every week about 5 times a week on jeeptrack and singletrack in the baakens valley.

for the price of xt chain rings you might as well buy the xt/slx 10 speed crank for replacement chainrings its gna cost around R1300(cwc prices) and for that price you can get a slx 10 speed crank which is just as good as xt if not better give or take a few grams more which you will not notice. I rate you try your 9 speed crank personaly i think it should work but shimano says it does not. i think its due to the 10speed chainrings being slightly narrower. If you have trouble shifting just get a slx 10speed crankset.

if buying 2nd hand look around on the hub some realy good deals but if buying brand new rather look at a silverback, you will get much better spec'd bike for the same price as the scott or merida alternatives. this is coming from a scott rider

This reminds me of the time my friend across the road's bike got stolen he being 15 at the time , it was his everything and when it got stolen he went mad and swore that if he saw a person on his bike he would kick the Sh!t out if him..(hes a regte afrikaner loop rond in plakkies en shortie) about 3 days later he was riding with his dad down the back road past the walmer location and saw what looked to be his bike. He told his dad to ride next to him to see..and what do you know it was his bike..so he climbed out and ran and threw the guy off the bike and kicked the Sh!T out of him then took his bike back and put it in his bakkie. Hi recently just coz i can decided to move to a 29er and see what all the vibe is about .. but now i need a cheap 29er fork. What is the cheapest 29er fork money can buy? I dont care if its crap as long as a 29er wheel can fit in..ill be happy..any one know of anyone selling ? my budget is R1500 tight i know but it will have to do.

have you ridden any of them?? no point in going along with "what they say" because you are going to be riding it so i rate take them both out for a test drive...then decide what works for you best.

hi guyts im thinking of moving over but im only 1.72m tall and dont have long legs do you thing i would get any performance gain on a 29er?

i had the exact same problem and i went with the scott verry hppy so far.. rather take the talon 2 its got slightly better specs and i rode both the giant has a more relaxed geo

Dude you did not have sram x9 shifters as the actuation ratio is 1:1 you must have had one of the following shifters: http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/sram-attack-9-spd-trigger-shifters or http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/sram-rocket-9-spd-trigger-shifters u cant use sram shifters with an actuation ratio of 1:1 with a shimano RD its like mating a chicken and a dog..they are just not compatible only shimano FD's are compatible with both sram and shimano..the cassettes have nothing to do with the rd actuation ratio so they are interchangable.

been riding tubes and pink raleigh slime(R50 buks from makro) for 3 years now..on 3 diff mtb's and i pull out thorns every day..(i ride lots of singletrack and bush) never had a flat thinking of switching over to tubeless to see what all the hype is about..still thinking hard on it as i have never had a puncture in 3 years and its a costly switch for me..
