  3. Word on the street is that we might be in awe if you continue posting your stuff...contninue please!
  4. Any primer on MDF has to be solvent based or oil based - never water based - keep to that rule and all will be fine.
  5. Nothing new, been around for a hundred years...go to cricket at Kingsmead, that how you carry your four mugs around...latecomers, pft!
  6. I found a word...bespoke?
  7. WoodMizer - the gold standard in portable saw mills, it has no equal.
  8. In what type of boat/boats?
  9. Hi Moridin, I made a rolling cart for wood storage, both sheet and plank goods. Also put my table saw on a rolling cabinet with 3 x drawers, 1 deep and two medium depth for tools and storage etc. Lumber cart plans check out Steve Ramsey on youtube...table saw I did on sketch-up but don't have the plans anymore. It should be specific to your saw in any case. Point is, rolling storage for any workshop is extremely functional and super practical.
  10. Some seriously nice work you turn out. Do you do this for a living?
  11. Hey Slowbee, if you don't mind, could you merge the two threads?
  12. Sell me that block plane, I'm sure you'll find one quick again in your neck of the woods
  13. I have a long list of friends that are boat builders, so I have already shamelessly begged for information, tips tricks on promisse of beer. Keep us updated, I'm going to Durbs the weekend to buy the marine ply, so will kick of proceedings next weekend...will post some pictures on here as we go along
  14. That's the spirit...you build it, you own it! Nice work, need two bench clamps now!
  15. Hi Dave, yes. Lived on a Houtbay 50 with a Schooner Rig for 2 years (Lotto winnings will be spent on one immediately when I win)...sailed an Argie 10 before and just last week bought plans for the Argie 10 so my boys and I can do something together this winter. Also sailed the Dix 43 and 43 Pilot (same boat just cosmetics)
  16. I thought that looked familiar
  17. I noticed earlier, you make use of both box joints and dovetails on those boxes, hope it inspires them to also work with wood one day
  18. Which dinghy design is this Dave? (dixdesign?)
  19. That is stunning...did you make the knife too?
  20. Do the four sides first. Then the middle bit
  21. Yes, normal wood glue, but here's the basic process (mine) Start by glueing up one side, then next etc...when the square is completed dry lay up of the pieces are done, then you work in one go. to get the centre done. Once dried, you start filling the gaps by filling with made off-cuts, but don't fill all the gaps, keep some for artistic purposes... Also, I tried this by making off-cuts, groot gemors...must be an organic process as the vegans say
  22. That is the truth, one needs to buy a clamp a month or every two months to build the collection
  23. When it comes to clamps you can never have enough but also need a variety of clamps even if you just a hobbyist like us. Clamping jigs and tables are also worth building
  24. It uses quite a bit of wood...the trick is to use the longer pieces in the middle and the shorter one's on the side. Can be done in two nights after work...enjoy... Oh yes, Instructables have a nice video on the basics of it
  25. Does contrast nicely though, come be honest now?
