I can do the R400 - R800, but the double price stuff is blerry ridiculous. This is the type of block plane I'm looking for, less aggressive angle specifically for end grain; http://www.jonzimmersantiquetools.com/tools/block_plane_b.jpg Works particularly well to create a friction surface when boat building out of plywood.

Try finding a good quality (not made in China) block plane for under R1600... Please if one of you kind hubbers have an old rusty one lying around I'll gladly pay for it as long as China was not the country of birth. My Granddad was 11 years old in 1910 and witnessed Halley's comet and told me about it.
